OK, we all know that Dimitrov actually uses a 93 sq. in. Wilson Pro Staff box beam that is not currently sold to the public. My question is why hasn't Wilson released this frame to the market yet? How many of you think Wilson should release this frame when they refresh the line-up, which is rumored to be in early 2014?

It should also be on the heavier side like the current ProStaff BLX 90 and not a lightweight like the current ProStaff BLX 95. I'm not saying they should get rid of the 90 or 95, but they should add the 93 into the line-up. Look at how many different sizes the Yonex VCore line has.

So would you buy one if Wilson released a ProStaff 93? Vote in the poll above. Maybe Wilson will read this thread and become encouraged to release this frame to the market. :)

Well they have the BLX Blade which is 93 and already fills that niche for headsize. If they made an open pattern Blade mid, I`d be interested as well. :D

The BLX Blade 93 is a completely different animal from the ProStaff series. Like night and day difference. You might as well have said since Head has a 93 sq. in. racquet, Wilson shouldn't sell one or that since Babolat has a 100 sq. in. APD so they shouldn't also sell a 100 sq. in. Pure Storm. :)

Interesting, but i just want an updated PS original 6.0 95. From what I read the BLX 95 just isn't the same . . . .

I would not buy a 93" PS. I have demo-ed a few 93" recently and they are nice but I prefer 95-98 now - 56 YO.

Wilson should make the 95 PS with a stock SW of 320 and static weight of 11.5 oz, and balanced at 6-7 HL. Then you could play stock or customize to higher SW and maintain low static weight.

I think they missed the boat when they released 95 PS with 306 stock SW at 11.5 static weight. For 306 SW, the static weight should have been around 11-11.25 oz.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted to like the PS 95 but Wilson screwed it up.

I get what you`re saying, but if you think about it from Wilson`s perspective: Why would they have two mids in the line up, with the exact same head size. Mids aren't a huge seller as is outside of the Tour 90 series, and once Fed is gone I guarantee that it will slowly be phased out, just as the PS85 was. So why would they risk having two 93 inch mids. I just don`t see it as a feasible option on their part.

That being said, I would absolutely love to try the Grigor93.

For the same reason why Wilson has so many 95s, 98s, and 100s in their line-up - because they are completely different racquets. Just because two racquets have the same head size does not mean that they are even remotely similar, just like the ProStaff 100 is not remotely similar to the Surge 100 nor the Juice 100.

And I consider a 93 to be a midplus, not a mid. And lots of people still want mids - that's why Yonex came out with an 89 sq. in. racquet, and Head, Dunlop, Volkl, Becker, etc. continue to make mids. Heck, even the PS 6.0 85 is still so popular that TW had to bring it back. :)

a better 95 PS would be better, 12 ounce, 8-10HL with good flex. though i would definetly try a 93. the 90 aint bad at all, jsut would prefer a bit more weight over all.

Would be tough for a 93 PS to play as well as the Prestige Mid. The Mid is just such a sweet stick...
But the ProStaff 93 is not trying to be a Prestige Mid - apples and oranges:

1. The Prestige Mid is actually 89.5 sq. in. so it's not even a 93.
2. The Prestige Mid has a completely different construction, layup, composition, flex profile, stiffness, swingweight, weight distribution, beam shape, etc. from the PS 93.
3. The Prestige Mid has an 18x20 string pattern, whereas the PS 93 is 16x19.
4. The Prestige Mid feels and plays completely different from the PS 93.

Thus, the Prestige Mid doesn't even belong in the same sentence as the PS 93 as they are mutually exclusive.

imo how would a difference in 2sq equate, in terms sensation, that one cannot do modifying the specs on a 95? so a 93 that has a feeling of an 90 is what the OP would like? - a stock 93 equivalent 90 to modify?

Well, there must be a good reason why Dimitrov chooses to use a 93 instead of a modified 95. I think a 93 would give you more control, move through the air quicker than a 95 but also give you more power and have a little bigger sweetspot than the 90. Yes, I want the 93 to be closer in weight to the 90 and be at least as headlight, if not slightly more.

Prostaff 93 with a 16x18 string pattern
Nah, I think that would be too open and you'd lose control. The PS 6.0 95 Original had a 16x18 string pattern and some of the holes in the stringbed were huge in that big hoop, which resulted in loss of control. I think a 16x19 pattern would work much better in the 93. :)

plenty of control with poly. Plus the 85 was 16x18 and that was tight. Just depends how you lay out the pattern. As a personal preference i'm leaning towards open string patters lately. The feel is just so much more comfortable and with poly I lose no control. At least in 95 and under I can easily get away with 16x18. Easier to string too. Less crosses the better :p

Poly in a Pro Staff? That's blasphemy!! :)

I would never use poly in a Pro Staff (nor in any other racquet for that matter).

Believe it or not, I actually think 16x18 even in the PS 85 is quite open.

what does it matter what grigor uses... it's not like wilson would release a similar spec, just a paintjob with grigor's sig.

Doesn't matter. The bottom line is that he's using a 93 and not the 95 nor the 90. So as long as Wilson releases the 93 with somewhat usable specs, customers can customize them to whatever they like. Nobody is looking for Dimitrov's exact specs or at least I'm not.

looks to me he used a 93 mold prior to being picked up by wilson...a niche that prob wilson hasn't picked on or capitalised at least in the pro ranks....because lets face it, who apart from fed with his insane precision has used a 90 really in the pro ranks??? granted the ps85 was still used in fed junior days...nowadays its the 93...
But how do you know that's a 93? Head doesn't make a racquet with a 93 sq. in. head, AFAIK (unless it's a pro only custom mold I don't know of). The Prestige Mid is not 93, but actually 89.5 sq. in.

If it doesnt matter what he uses then i wouldnt mind getting a 93 just as a point of difference.

Actually there are a few -- one of them is the Head Premier Tour "600", it's a *true* 93, one can easily tell it's slightly bigger than Prestige mid when you put them together to compare.

(almost exact same size as Wilson Blade 93s)

But too bad it has SO much flex that renders it *UNSTABLE* in heavy ground-rallies, wind up almost all pros who claimed to use it actually used a paint job, including Tommy Haas, Muster, Guga etc.

(I thought I hit with a bamboo stick :)

Deuce on this board posted a lot on this thing.

Devilito said 16x18. I'm the one who advocates for 16x19. Delilito also didn't specify any other desired specs.

In any case, I agree with your desired specs, but maybe a little heavier static weight with slightly lower swingweight.

Interesting, but it sounds like it's a mold that Head hasn't used for any racquets for decades. I am not aware of any Head sponsored current pros that are using a 93 sq. in. frame made by Head.

I would definately consider purchasing if they bring K-FACTOR 90 specs with bigger head size 93~95.

BLX Prostaff 95 wasn't the specs (overall weights, head balance, the beam size) that I was looking for, and blades are totally different racquests from 6.1 tour series.

Wilson should re-release K90 along with the choices of 93 and 95 :)

It seems tha this most of K90 fans' demand I believe

I hit with the PS ROK 93 for years and absolutely love the feel and control. I try to get it strung once a year and go hit it but for my baseline spin game I can't generate the power and the sweet spot is just a tish early 2000's for me. You may be right about the string pattern because it was an 18x20 like the Prestige and both of them have to stay in my reserve bag.

Does Wilson think they can market a 90, 93, and 95 versions?
Does this small market warrant adding a new model to the line?
Your question might be "in theory" only, because Wilson might not believe it's worth the hassle and the money to develop a new model just for a small number of tennis players.

But that's just it. Wilson doesn't have to develop anything. They've had a 93 sq. in. ProStaff for years. It was developed for Federer years ago but he passed on it so they gave it to Dimitrov (similar to how Wilson developed the PS Tour 90 for Sampras but since he retired, they gave it to Federer). Dimitrov has been using it for years. So all we're asking Wilson to do is to release it to the public. The R&D costs have already been spent.

Breakpoint, just admit it. You don't really want this racquet released to the public. What you really want is to catch the attention of Wilson, as you said, but in reality you just want to get in their good graces in hopes that they'll give YOU one of those racquets...lol ;)

Nah...I want Wilson to flood the world with them (as long as they have the right specs). :)

Too lazy to post pics but Wilson did sell the "Pro Staff 95 Limited" at one time, in Japan I think. Plays beautifully. 17mm beam in a 95sq.in. Sweet. Same PS85 PJ too.
