Anybody play with the following specs on the TC 95 :18x20, 63RA, 27", 320g/315mm (11.4oz 9pts HL)? If so, how does it play? If not, How do you expect this would play?

Haha those are almost my exact specs, although balance for me is 310mm.

Only received it yesterday, stringing it up tonight. Hopefully will get to test it out tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me how these racquets feel in terms of comfort, especially for the 63 RA in either the 95 or 100 head sizes, if more info on how I'd set it up is needed than ill reply with it but just wondering how the frame itself is, if its stiff or not just really wanna know if its arm friendly

I have used Vantage 95 with 63RA, Bastcores in 95 and 100.

The custom 95 with 63RA has good comfort, but there are other racquets on the market that are superior in that department.

Bastcore 95 even with its 49RA was not a very comfortable racquet. Perhaps it has somethign to do with "recoil" but it transmits a lot of shock to the arm. I did not use the Bastcore 100 a whole lot, but I remember it being more comfortable than the 95.

Has anbody played with the 18x20 angell or vantage and how does it compare vs the wilson blade 18x20?

I've been using the Angell custom 95 18x20 63RA for months, the best modern tennis racket I've ever used!

Honestly everyone should try it out. Great comfort, control and power (if you have a long fast swing). Blocking back serves is the only weakness of this racket (so I admit it is not 100% perfect, but I'm happy with 99%):)

The feel of Angel rackquets is similar to what standard brand/company/model?

Angell rackets are not similar to any other latest rackets. They are better made with more layers of graphite and are foam filled. They are more expensive to make than any other current rackets as far as I know, and can only be sold at such a good price I can imagine due to Angell's very small marketing budget, and probably working on quite small margins?

Anyway I'm not great at saying what my custom Angell feels like, but a bit like a cross between a Dunlop MW200G and Volkl C10!

OK, I cna belive you that it can be specific feel. But thank for the Dunlop/Volkl examples! if it is this way, this soft not crisp Dunlop/Volkl feel it cannot be bad!

Don't forget I'm using the 63RA version and use a soft poly at low tension. If you get the 70RA version and string with gut at high tension, I'm sure you'll get a nice crisp feel. Angell are really great rackets, give one a try!

What are your specs in terms of weight and balance? I don't know whether to go 320g/310mm or 330g/310mm. I currently play with a Head Prestige mid (330g/310mm unstrung) and it can wear me out a little at the end of a match, but I don't know if I want to go lighter.

I have replaced the stock prestige grip with a leather one, which may have affected the weight/balance slightly, however.

I can't remember specs and taken stickers off, but just checked and 355g/310mm (strung, overgrip over leather, dampner etc), although balance is approx as measured on table edge, sorry best I can do. And yes it does seem a bit heavy after hitting for 2 hours (which I rarely do).

Ok thanks! Very much interested in getting an Angell (TC 95, 18x20, 63RA), just need to determine what weight/balance is what I'm looking for...

Well you won't regret it from my experience, I wish I'd had these rackets years ago, they are superb.

For sure I need: TC95, 63RA (or less is possible ;) ) and 0.5 inch longer. I love Dunlop 4D feel and Bio200. I can be interesting experiance...

does angell sport have an option for a 100sq.in., 18x20 frame?

I was just on their website and it doesn't seem as if it's possible, the 18x20 seems to be available only for the tc95.

A shame, I would order some up if I could get 100sq.in., 18x20 frame. There seems to be a shortage in the market of frames like this.

Hi klem, no, not yet -- hopefully in the not too distant future.

I'm currently hitting the Vantage VT221 and TC100 and they're really nice frames. Top notch quality and performance.

I have a question.

I have 2 Vantage frames. 310g. 6pts HL. 100sqin.

great racquets. if I order a Angell racquet with the same specs, will they be "equal" to the racquets I already have?

Are they made on the same place, from the same mold, and the only thing changing is the paint job?

I asked this question several times but did not get a clear answer. I sent an email to Paul but didn't get an answer.

No problem with that. I know he's a busy guy. He answered a lot of emails from me in the past :)

I thought a couple of people had said all was the same, don't worry. If you order the same specs they'll be the same. The mold, grommets product, Paul sending them out are all the same, paintjob aside it's the same, I had vantages and have 2 angells here now, grommets from my vantage fit the angells.
Relax and give Paul a shout or send a message on twitter/facebook

Ok, so after a bit of a wait my frame arrived last week. I haven't had a chance to string it up yet.

Can anyone provide me with a set of stringing instructions for the 18x20. I had a bit of a look at it today and some of the grommets look like they could go either way. Would rather not get half way through a stringing job and realise I've screwed up.

Even if someone could provide detailed pics of their strung TC95 18x20 showing locations of mains and crosses that would be fantastic.

Try this.......

It's the stringing instructions for the Vantage 95" 18x20. Identical to your frame.

Does Angell ship to the US? I tried ordering but paypal isn't letting me. Giving a message of "Unable to process payment. Please contact the merchant as the shipping address provided by the merchant is invalid, and the merchant has requested that your order must be shipped to that address."

Anybody else with this experience?

I just bought the 100" 16x19 and gave the stringer at my local club the instructions for my racquet, but I think he may have done it wrong. But then again, since I have no experience in stringing, I could be the one that's wrong.

These are the stringing instructions I found from the link in the quote above. This is the picture of the stringbed. Part of the reason I'm skeptical is because it looks as if the grommets come in pieces. If you string it right, it should look like this and connect the two pieces, and if you string it wrong, it would look like this, right? But I could be completely wrong. The side that looks wrong to me just doesn't look flush, which probably isn't as big a deal as I'm making it out to be.

Also, are these instructions unique to this racquet or are all 16x19's strung the same? If I don't give the stringer the instructions next time and he strings it wrong, will there be any consequences as a result?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

that looks right, i think i counted the same strings as was in the instructions anyway.I always make sure i have or i have given the instructions to whoever is stringing.
Repeatedly done wrong will in theory stress the frame in ways it isn't supposed to be.

It looks like your stringer followed the instructions from the link you mentioned.

FWIW, I have a TC100 too and my knots are in the same positions -- I strung it myself.

Have any of you removed the pallets from your frames yet? I think I may have overestimated my ability to handle the mass I requested. Paul told me that there are lead plugs under the pallet that are removable if I wanted to decrease the weight, but I have no experience with removing pallets. I looked up some videos online and some were using heat guns, so I assume adhesives are involved? Some insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Im curious about this... I love my prestige MP and at 12.8 oz and 8.5 pts headlight it is a beast. Thing is Ive recently been hitting with a Becker London mid and it is just heaven to serve firsts with, whereas the prestige hits better seconds and far superior on groundies and volleys (it does have heavy specs). The weight doesnt bug me but I like that old-time buttery feel of the London. Maybe a TC95 with all that foam filled goodness or perhaps a Volkl C10 MP (is that a true 98 or similar to Head's "98") Pacific is interesting too.

Im feeling antsy because I sense my Prestige might be developing a crack... Im hearing a buzz after a recent string job. Hopefully it is a grommet or a knot that needs trimming. Either way I want something that serves a little more like the London... but it just might not be possible to get that lovely mid feeling in a mid plus. I have a very powerful Guga or Wawrika style 1HBH so control and consistent response is very important to my play.

Yes, I suppose what I really want is a PT630. hmmm a presitige MP with a lower RA than 62.

I've removed pallets before. Very easy really.....the hard bit was removing the staples from the buttcap and pallet. Pallet just had double sided tape underneath. Very easy to change the weight and balance on Vantage/Angells.

Do I just remove the grips and staples, and peel off the pallets?
Do I need extra double-sided tape to replace the current ones?
I'll probably need a staple gun to replace the staples, I assume?
Are there any other technical steps I need to be aware of?
Any tips that would make the process easier?

Sorry for all the questions. I really appreciate the help.

^Never mind. I couldn't help myself, so I just went ahead and did it anyway. I was just careful in taking out the staples so I could reuse them again. It went rather smooth considering my inexperience, except one of the pallets isn't pinned to the frame as it well as it was and will probably need to be stapled again at some point in the future.

It's easy enough isn't it? I didn't bother trying to re-staple the pallet. Just put a single layer of tape around it, that secures it nicely.

You can see how Paul builds the frames to each spec. Starts off with the basic frame and adds weights to reach the desired spec. Clever yet simple design of the hairpin. :)

Do you think this design affects the swingweight of these racquets compared to similarly-spec'd racquets? I recall reading somewhere that two racquets with nearly identical weight and balance could have different swingweights, something about distribution of weight if I remember correctly.

I removed all the weights and made my racquet 290g and 2pts headlight. I was demo'ing the Volkl Organix 10 (295g) the other day and while 5g heavier and 1pt more headlight, it seemed to swing through the air much more effortlessly than the Angell. Maybe I'm just imagining things...

I have the same racquet but I had mine done at the max of 28.5 in long. I am returning serves like a beast. The Angell 95 18x20 has blown any previous I owned out of the water and I own over 40 racquets.

There is an offical Florida dealer of Angell racquets from fl.angelltennis.com

It is owned by a new tennis store in Gainesville FL called Newdash Tennis

Still absolutely love my frame more than ever. Paul has been tremendous to deal with as well. I recently had the same question of removing weight, I felt it was just a smidge heavy for me on serve, causing my first to lack velocity, but after some work on my swing, I've been bombing my first ever since.

Regardless, Paul was very quick to respond to my questions and has a tremendous thing going right now. It's tough to beat what you get with Angell.

I suspect the Angell swings heavier because it is foam-filled throughout.

I measured a couple of my Angell frames the other day.

here's the specs of my main stick:
(16x19 - 63RA - 95" - strung with RIP Control and overgripped)
Weight: 340g
Balance: 32cm (~8pts HL)
Swingweight: 335

I also measured a lighter version with the same balance
Weight: 326g
Balance: 32cm
Swingweight: 326

Lastly, I modded an old Vantage - trimmed the side bumpers and added the missing weight from 10 - 2
Weight: 338g
Balance: 32.5cm
Swingweight: 350

What specs were you interested in getting?

I removed two 10g weights from my handle and it is now 290g. I want to put them back in to make it 310g. The website lists three different balances at the 310g weight: 6pts HL, 7pts HL, and 9pts HL. Would I put the weights in slots [2] and [3] to make the balance 6pts HL?

I have really enjoyed my older 2 x 70 flex Vantage 95s (black) this past year, but I couldn't pass up a tremendous deal on the auction site for 3 x 63 flex Vantage 95s (red) with a 9 racquet bag, grommets, hat, and extra grips.
I've already been tweaking them further by sanding the grips smaller and to more of a Head shape then using an even smaller Head butt cap for less flare. I also lengthened it by about 3/8" by adding inside the buttcap, and changed the weighting around in the handle to a 15 and 10 gram weight in the middle of the lower three slots and a 10 gram weight in the upper slot.
I'm quickly being won over by the 63 flex.

Can anyone guide me to the closest match to my BB 11 MP 18/20. Unstrung is 325g, 310mm. I have five of them but they are pretty used now and this looks promising. Most of my frames strung weights are 347-350g including dampner and overgrip. I'm really not sure what grip type to get? Also, not sure if I should get the 320g or the 330g? Any advise to my questions greatly appreciated.

thank you

My TC95s 70RA (really 64RA with handle, grip and strung), 27" length, 12HL, leather grips, 16x19, 330g come in around 356g with yonex overgrip and dampner. Very maneuverable and perfect weight for me. After playing with them for a bit now, they are my standard for quality and simply wonderful to play with. They are truly terrific racquets. All things being equal the 63RA will have slightly more SW then the 70RA racquets. The 70RA is supremely comfortable with almost no perceptible impact or vibrational shock.
