Nice. Read some good things on cyclone.

BTW- Anyone of you guys ever play around with a ERT 300? http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Gamma_ATS_ERT_300_Tenniscomputer/descpageGAMMA-ERT300.html

Stringer who was trying to sell his services came by the courts today. Mclovin has my other two sticks, so I was using my MPP string with pacific gut and big ace.

Dynamic tension was pretty low - about 30-31 on that thing, which translated to about 40lbs in tension. The dude said that meant the strings were dead, but I guess I sort of like them this way. They weren't rocket launchy and control was decent.

Would be interesting to see what the other two sticks were at. I have a suspicion that they were a lot lower in tension that I wanted / liked.

Played this afternoon from 2-3:30 on the clay out here. We have some pretty big trees that shield us from the wind (mikeler and downs know what I'm talking about), so it was just like a late afternoon in Florida...in December...

88 on Wednesday and 90 on Thursday with no wind. Much more to my liking.

Survived hiking/camping trip. No bears but I did see a bunch of deer. No cicadas either, weird...

Got down to the low 30's at night and into the 70's during the day. People from WV are nice but a little strange.

Sappy - I'm working in Arlington near VS square metro Thursday. If I get free, want to try to meet up for lunch?

Is this because of the rain delay vs. "your opponent" Tommy Haas.

I cheer for him knowing that its "close" to the JRS ...He even has a wookie like look....

Okay, I'll see if I can make it happen. Hopefully I can get out for lunch. Or they may just lock us into a room all day for this meeting.

so i tried a poly / syn gut hybrid in a match last night...i just didn't feel as dialed in as i do with full poly...still pulled out the win, but it was kind of ugly...side note, my arm feels great!

so anyways, what is for lunch?

Also, are you in for this weekend's match? Sunday @ 2 vs. Fredericksburg. The final two matches are at CFAC.

There's a "stop masturbating joke" in here somewhere...

Let's be honest, how much worse is your game going to get if you take a year off? I haven't played in over a year and I'm pretty sure I would suck just as bad now (as I did back then) if I picked up the racket again.

Tried out 18g tour bite in the prestiges last night. Feels sweet. Awesome control and spin while swinging out. I'm sticking to the smaller gauge. I also think I prefer slightly higher tension. 52 felt great, 50 may have been a tad too low.

Had to say last night was the first time I've shown up at Newport and all the courts were dark. I had to kick on the lights. It rained but we just had to squeegee a few puddles and it was all good.

Looking online - looks like everything is on the 3rd upper deck. Don't know if I want to pay $45 to look at ants.

Suggestion - find a sports bar with a big TV and tasty food and drop $45 on eats.

I have bubble butt that booked marked. Haven't watched yet.

At a friends house this past weekend and they served chips and mango salsa, zesty pickles, and spicy brats from costco.
Naturally i got a bun..added a brat. Smothered it in real german mustard..then topped itwith mango salsa and chunks of spicy dill pickle.
It was awesome and looked like a work of art!
Rest of dinner was devoted to talk of opening a food truck/weinermobile!

I'm at the Reston clay courts. I better not get Mcbooted.

I'd like to say, those were some of the best public clay courts I've played on outside of Florida. A tad dry in one area, but bounces were pretty consistent. Unfortunately, my game was not.

Sorry TW-MAC, I put my best out there, but came up short 5-7, 5-7. 2nd set was pretty much a mirror of the 1st: Up an early break, play a tired service game @ 3-2, play solid for another 5 games, then another tired service game @ 5-6. 2h 15m battle in the first 90 degree day of the spring.

What can I say? mikeler was just too tough, and too seasoned in the heat, on the clay.

Then I had the pleasure of driving from North Reston to Warrenton: 1h 30m. Wonderful...

Tennis is worth a 1h 30 min drive IMHO.

Only if you win...

Ouch, that is not a fun drive. When I went out to your place last time it was about an hour each way but well worth it.

Those courts were pretty good for early season. I've seen much worse.

As for the match, McLovin has upgraded the serve with his new stick. Both on the 1st and 2nd serves. I watched a few more aces go by and his kick serves were not allowing me any room to attack on the 2nd serve. With the exception of my first service games in each set, I played well the rest of the way through.

I have a huge advantage having played in the heat on and off the last 2 months. Those first few matches in the heat are always brutal every spring but then your body adapts.

McLovin did get me back for last time with a few sweet drop shots and half volley drop shots. My highlight of the day was a 1 handed topspin backhand cross court passing shot winner. That one I was rewarded with the McLovin middle finger! I did point out that I'm only using the 2 hander under protest from my elbow. :)

Yes, that was most definitely the shot of the day. I hit what I thought was a nice slice approach: knifed, low & short in the court. I expected a weak reply up the line, maybe even a short lob, but from nowhere, off comes the left hand & a 1-handed backhand short angle passing shot goes right by me. Seriously, I had no play on it. I wasn't even in the right zip code.

But what really killed me were the 3 or 4 lobs you hit at key moments. Even when I got to one, I was too tired to finish the point...and the next point...and the point after that. Body blows take their toll over the course of a match.

Tampa area?

Honestly, mclovin is being too kind or not informed. I've been relegated to practice hero and bruised liver rehab. Life's twist and turns. Think this guy.

balls_of_fury.jpg

First, I had that concert t-shirt. Sad.

Second, is bruised liver a euphemism for cirrhosis?

Third, I'd like all TW-MAC members who attended Bollettieri's to take one step forward...

Everyone expects those lobs over the backhand corner so sometimes 1 or 2 over to the forehand corner can pay dividends.
