Again.... why would anyone post when there is tons of info already. When you get to a few thousand posts .. you will understand why folks stop posting. A poly that is rated #1 for spin is not just another poly. Dense or what??

+1. Not sure how #1 in spin gets thrown into the just another poly bucket. Black 7 is great at lower tensions and it has more control than the blue rough no matter where you string it. I have not found a better poly for the price:performance ratio. There's a million posts like mine, but since someone wants to hear it again, I'm posting it...again.

I would still like to hear from people that have switched from BHBR to this. I plan to try this with my next string order but that will probably be in a couple of months.

Since you are asking...

It is "just another poly" in that it falls into the pattern of many new polys that come out. It had lots of excitement when first released and now it has an average amount of discussion. The TW review was average. The customer comments on the sales page are average. There are some people that love it and some that don't like it - just like many, many other polys. It gets great reviews for spin and marginal reviews in some other areas

In my book, that makes it "just another poly".

Don't agree? No problem. You don't and you didn't take it personally or feel the need for name calling. You answered some questions based on your experience. That is very helpful and appreciated.

ok, so in that case, can you bring an example of a few NOT "just another poly"'s ?

Interesting you said this. I recently strung up BHB7 @ 52 lbs and absolutely loved it. Very comfortable, lots of spin, plenty of control, but a tad on the powerful side. I was still hitting a few too many balls long with it. I'll have to adjust that and tighten it up a bit.

I then strung up BHBR. I don't know if i was having an off night or what, but I had easily 4x as many UEs with it than BHB7. Most of my shots were just dumped right into the net. I had good side-to-side control, however. It was pretty easy to hit inside-out forehands and just clip the lines.

But in the spin department, this is where it failed miserably. Compared to the BHB7, the BHBR produced so little spin that it was just silly. I actually produce more spin with PPA 16!

As far as stiffness is concerned, neither aggravated my TE.

To me, BHB7 was the clear winner.

You're describing the natural life cycle of all product launches. It applies to tennis strings, rackets, computers, movies, music, whatever. Tell me, you still buzzing the internet up about Avatar? :)

This string is one of the best price/performers out there. BHB7 is soft, easy on the arm and much better than the average poly.. I was one of the 1st TTers to test this stuff and I sent out samples to set up a nice little playtest. I do not work for Tourna or TW. #1 in spin for a poly is quite something. I did not love every everything about the string when I did my 1st playtest about 55 Lbs.. I dropped the tension to 50 and the magic was on. It is still my go to string. I have tested it side by side with RPM Blast and maybe the Blast is a bit better in some respects.. but not not a clear winner. Factor in the fact that RPM is twice as much and you have to go with the BHB7. You can get a reel of the BHB7 for $89.95. I got 17 sets out of my reels. A reel of RPM is $225.00. RPM Blast better be much better than BHB7 for that price.

Ahhh, now I see why you are so sensitive. You started the thread and are the one pushing the string so it turns into name calling if people don't wet themselves over it. Gotta love the internet.

Yes.. I started the thread. I do not work for Tourna or TW... But when RSI rates the string #1 in spin out of the all of strings they have reviewed.. calling BHB7 just another poly is just being obtuse and trying to troll for reaction. Gotta love the internet.... I could care less if you like the string or not. Just make a decent point that you can defend. So far you have not done so. Your "just another poly" statement does not make any sense. Keep talking maybe someone will help you out...

Jesus man, some of us have jobs.

I can't point out a better string. I made it very clear that I haven't even tried the BHB7. For all I know I will think it is the most amazing thing ever once I hit it. My point that has everyone's panties in a bunch was already made very clear - (lots of initial hype, the hype dies down, limited mediocre reviews here, great for spin but not so great for other things).

I can point out a great string that is actually cheaper - MSV Focus Hex Soft. Great spin, great tension maintenance, great super soft feel for a poly (if you are into that kind of thing). $84 a reel at a competitor.

I am also fond of Isospeed Baseline Spin. Probably as good a value for the money as the Focus Hex if you don't mind cutting it out every time you play.

I really like BHBR as well. Again, I can't say any of these are better as I haven't tried the BHB7.

Yes, I would call all of those "just another poly" as well.

You don't like my opinion and respond with snarkiness and name calling. I'm an adult and don't get too worked up about these things. I've also got kids and like to think that if they somehow logged into dad's posting history that I wouldn't be embarrassed. I'm going to wish you a happy Thanksgiving and let you get back to your thread.

Will it still be a top selling and recommended string the way SPPP and RedCode are now?
Or will it go the way of Savage?
Only time will tell.

All of that is down to you, not the string. The rest of your comments don't make sense either.

That is an interesting question. Tourna/Unique does not release many products and they tend to keep products in their line. At one point they had only about 5 string offerings. The BHB7 is a solid product, getting great press and the price is very good. The other thing that Tourna is very good at is offering samples to stringers and end users and if you inquire they will offer (at times) 2 for 1 deals..on reels and sets. I would say that BHB7 will be around for a while. How the market reacts is something that can't be anticipated.

I'd think I'd like for my son to try BHB7. He likes a softer co-poly in a hybrid setup. We've pretty much settled on Black Iontec and Black5Edge.

Does BHB7 play anywhere similar ?

just played with bhb7 in a hybrid with quasi-gut for the first time last night. not a good a idea to use quasi-gut as this is a pretty powerful sting. i can only describe it as "jumpy", the whole setup that is. in fact, i really don't thing you need to hybrid this stuff since i'ts really soft. as a hybrid with quasi-gut it was way too powerful and extremely soft. if i were to even try to hybrid this i would use a stiffer synthetic or just go with ogsm since that plays a fairly stiff as a cross. the one thing i did like was the comfort and feel of the setup. ball pocketing was nice as well, best i've tested so far. however, the control was out the window and too many adjustments needed to be made to keep a consistent rally.

this setup was very hard to control, for me. when i tried to hit through the ball i dumped it into the net. the only way i could keep a rally was to hit in a more upward motion which cleared the net by 3-4 feet then nose dived near the service line. perhaps it was the cross, but i feel like i would have gotten the same or similar results in a full bed. if i were to test this again, which i probably won't i would play a full bed at between 53-55 ( my hybrid test was at 47/52) as a hybrid i'd use ogsm and set tension at 50/55.

i've played with a bunch of shaped poly's and the more i play with them the more i realize that if you already hit with alot of topspin these shaped ploy's only exaggerated what you already have. in other words they bring, at least for me any advantage, competitive or otherwise. my next 2 tests will be with round poly's starting with SPPP and WC Scoprion.

if you're looking for a soft poly that will, most definitely give you more spin than definitely give this a try. in fact give it a try anyway and make your own conclusions about it, but for those who already generate a fair bit of top spin you may find that sometimes more, is just more.

I finally laced up a half set of this tonight. I crossed it with Iso Baseline Spin to get 2 sets out of one since the crosses don't really benefit from texture. Gotta say, I'm a bit excited about this one. Feels like a soft version of BHBR. I liked that string a lot for spin and control, but it lacked power and feel. This has the same fence wire feel, but seems a lot more springy as you weeve the crosses. I recently did the same set up but with Cyclone Tour (seems to get similar comments to BHB7 and mirrors its stats in the comparison box), and I REALLY like the feel of it. I'm hoping this will put the spin up to BHBR standards, but keep the feel of the Cyclone Tour, as CT didn't have quite the spin of BHBR. Hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow. This might be the main I'm looking for!

I used BHB7 as lot last summer when it was hot out. Was awesome. Full bed 50 lbs. Indoor this winter they keep the courts at 60-65 degrees and it works terrible in that colder temperature.

I tried tour bite once and did not like it. Too stiff. Only played for half an hour with it and never bought anything Solinco again.

I like both but I find its harder to hit a flat ball with the black 7. I don't want my shots too spinny but thats probably due to my style.

They both have good comfort and feel (Black is a touch more crisp, blue's a bit more smooth) - But I string low in the mid to low 40's with midsize frames.

It comes down to a trade off between penetration and good spin (Blue) or super -almost stupid- amounts of spin (BlacK). I find blue to be better suited for me with player's racquets.

But a baseline pounder that likes to rip the ball with good power and comfort should look no further with black.

I know this thread is kind of old now. But, I just went through a set of this for the first time. I felt that it became quite boardy, quite quickly. I was wondering if I didn't like the feel of it, and didn't think that it could be due to it being dead yet because it surely wasn't around long enough. Lo and behold, when I played today I had a lot of string movement. Explains that.

Anyone know anything better for tension maintenance with a little more feel?

The spin and power were great, when it was fresh.

I thought Gamma moto had close to equal spin, but held tension better and lasts longer. Not quite as soft though. String a couple lbs looser than bhb7.

Solinco tour bite is stiffer and has lower power.
The texture is similar and both strings help with spin.
Tour bite has much more durability with regard to breaking the string.
Solinco may be better for big hitters?

Tour Bite and Cyclone are next on my list. A little worried about the stiffness of TB in a Tec 320.

Will look in to Gamma Moto - Thanks PKfan1

The other string to look into is MSV Focus Hex 17G (Just got an outstanding deal on a reel). Another really nice price performer. I have played the BHB7 17G and the 16G. The 17G is really thin and as Torres has stated can be springy. No need to hybrid the 17G. The 16G seems much more stable in a 16 x 19 pattern. The 17G would work much better in an 18 x 20. I also have played Volkl Cyclone and Tour Bite. I really love the Tour Bite Soft over the standard. TB seems a bit stiff to me and I would go for the Volkl Cyclone over the Tour Bite. A better string and a better price. Also the Volkl Cyclone comes in more colors and each one plays a bit different which gives you more options along with the different gauges. TW did a real nice review of the Volkl string... Andy and Chris.. the two best male playtesters in my book. I do like Spenser since his game is very similar to mine.. :) Good luck.. there are so many options these days.. so much a double edge sword.

Could anyone offer any comparisons on this string and Volkl cyclone , would be interested in any feedback. Here in the uk the BHB7 is near enough double the price of the cyclone

BHB7 is a bit more crisp than Cyclone, and (for me) provides a more consistent string bed. BHB7 still has a bit of the springy feel that you get from Cyclone, but not as bad. Cyclone is soft, springy, and gives you lots of dwell time. Something like Tour Bite is firm, crisp, and very little dwell time. BHB7 is halfway in between these two. Also, I thought BHB7 lasted longer than Cyclone. For me, Cylcone is great for about 4-5 hours and then just goes crazy and becomes a completely difference string.

For the player in the UK who says that BHB7, is twice the price of cyclone, I don't think that BHB7 is worth two times the price of Cyclone.

100%. bhb7 is far spinnier than cyclone, but waay more powerful and springier. It also loses its initial play qualities much faster than cyclone for me.

I am just about ready to buy another reel. But, I didn't want to drop another $255 for Lux 4G is there was something better out there. I had a few sets of the Tourna strings and decided to try them. I am glad/mad that I did. Glad because these strings are really nice and mad that I spent so much on 4G!

Right now, I have the Blue in one frame and the BHB7 in another. Both strings are super nice, but the BHB7 just slices through the ball. There seems to be little to no impact using these strings which is nice on the old wrist. Spin is off the charts as well. I'm going to hit with all the strings, but right now I am very impressed with BHB7.

One of the guys I was hitting with yesterday told me that I could not play mens' tennis if my strings and grip were the same color. He was referencing the TournaGrip and Tourna BH Blue strings. :)

You could have been using pink strings and a pink overgrip... :)

On a serious note the Tourna Big Hitter line are great price performers.

The last reel of BHB7 17G, I got 17 string jobs out of it. So...$5.88 a set. If are looking for a great string for even a better price go with Big Hitter Silver 17G. Plays very much like ALU Power, less money and plays longer and comes in about $70.00 a reel or so. The BH Blue is soft and easy on the arm. The BHBR 17G gives crazy spin. I just ordered two replacement grips and they are every bit as good as a Gamma.

I will be stringing my frames with optic yellow and installing a matching overgrip. Enjoy Rabbit... :)

Yeah, I already worked out my per job cost. :) On the 99S, I only need 30 feet to string it and with BHB7 that works out to $4.54 a set. That's down from $11.59 for 4G. Sounds like an IQ test to me :)
