I think I will try the RIP control, monogut seems too powerful. If I'm stringing full poly at 57-60 should I increase the tension or keep it the same as I assume the multi will hold tension better?

It's funny you say that because I got really bad TE when I was using the original YT prestige mp and tried dropping tension and doing hybrids, but nothing got rid of it until I switched to the redondo mid and now the YT IG pmp and have had no problems even w/ poly at 60+ lbs. So for some reason I think I am more sensitive to frames than strings as the LM prestige MP gave me TE as well, strung with syn gut.
How do you pre stretch it? Machine pre-stretch or pull on it for a while?

It's possible I went back and edited that comment after the original playtest. It seemed fairly soft when I first tried it. Then I accidentally bought the 17g gauge to use as a cross for poly mains and that is when it seemed stiffer. I've recently tried the 16g as a cross and it seems fairly soft so I may go back and reedit that comment. This may be a case where for whatever reason the 17g bothered my elbow more or perhaps my elbow was just in a bad state at that time. Fortunately, I have taken 11 days off from tennis and with the exception of a little bit of tightness in 1 hamstring, all my tennis aches are gone.

OK, here is my review in the TW format of the Yonex Tour Super 850 16.
It looks like a standard 16g string. Very easy to string. It reminds me of stringing synthetic gut. Bounced it off the racket a few times and it felt muted right after stringing.
I just tried this in a new Yonex 98D and found this to be very muted, so I'm glad to know that the string may be partly responsible, so thanks.

Thanks for all your reviews they have helped me pick out a few gems. Its amazing how rest can cure so much it's just so hard to do. I have 3 weeks left in my leagues then a few weeks off for me can't wait.

Hit a bit in scorching heat (30°C/86°F at 17 o'clock FFS) with Premier Attack 17 at 53/49... Much better in the open string pattern I now use. Much, much better than in the Blade. Hope I won't break it on a dirty shank. Very complete in all departments with a firm feeling and a short contact time between the string and the ball.

Scorching heat does not exist in northern Europe. 95 in Berlin is nothing compared to the same temperature with humidity and the stronger sun in Florida.
PS I may change my mind when I play the next 2 days here though.

The difference is that in Florida, it's like this all the year around, which is (barely) insane. I didn't personally experience very high humidity when I was there though. But we've hit over 95°F temperatures regularly in Paris as of late. Happy for you you're being cooked with vapour, must be nice. We're being roasted. I don't think I wanna realistically do a contest of "who's getting toasted the most". I'd love 25°C sunny day, not much wind. Perfect to play tennis. Now we're just trying to avoid the heat, to realise at the end of the day, it's the same stuff.Once I went in the Caribbean islands... I still wonder how the people out there can walk barefooted. Tried it, burned my feet within the first step. :shock:

I use PPA 17g almost exclusively ... prefer it over 16g
It usually doesn't fray or notch. It just gets thinner and breaks on a big hit. I've broken 16 gauge prematurely on shanks multiple times, sometimes in less than an hour, but when I don't shank, the durability is great. For me, 17 gauge is probably too fragile.
I haven't used a multi in years and am looking to try some as a cross. I like to lube the strings and was thinking if the lube can impregnate the multi fibers it will stay slippery for a long time as opposed to other strings where the oil rubs off easily. Are there multis with thin coating that will wear off allowing the oil to soak in?

Sensation 16 is OK, NXT was not bad either but a little too stiff for my elbow at the time. I tried both in 16g.

I have 17, but I never tried 16. Maybe I'll get 16 next, the string is fragile on sh1tty shanks.

It works well at lower tensions. I think you'll like it.
I like ThunderBlast better as a cross than DM. It gives me better control at the cost of some comfort. Since ThunderBlast is cheaper and durability is good for both, it is still my favorite cross. I tried Black Widow mains and it was just not for me. Every ball I hit landed way short in the court. Probably just had the tension wrong. I have not tried Cyclone or BHB7. Just reading reviews, I don't think I'll like them better than B5E which fits my game very well.

ThB is pretty low powered and relatively stiff for a multi. It also has a rougher coating which seems to aid in spin production. Right now I have B5E/DM, B5E/Hexy Fiber and B5E/DNA in my bag and they are all good.

Hi Mikeler, my son is 14 and playing competitive tennis in Europe with your preferred Black 5E and thunderblast. He is running out of thunderblast reel, which is not possible to get in europe. I have two oprions to buy for him at a moment as a cross: Signum Micronite 1.27 or Volkl Power Fiber 1.25. What you may advise if I need to choose between thus two?

Try wilson control hits like a poly spin and control but like butter on the arm. Thanks to Mikeler I tried it and all I can say is wow. I must of hit 20 winners today. Plus my arm feels great after having golfers elbow for 1 year I am very scared to try anything with poly in the string.

Premier LT is a true multi and therefore is more expensive. Premier Attack has a tri-core construction and is cheaper. Since the main character of the strings is determiner by the crosses, you should use Attack as a cross to soften the stringbed a bit without making it mushy.
NXT control so easy on the arm had to imagine it has poly in it. If like to take big swipes at the ball and keep it in this is the string. NRG and other multis are to powerful they have really made my game decline but my elbow thanked me.

Wilson sent samples of this string couple years ago. Thought it was their best multi. Great string for racquets with open patterns or racquets with some pop. Really easy to string up.
Funny this string gets no love but I think for somebody with arm problems and wants low power and spin this is a great choice. I would love to play with a poly if my arm ever lets me. What is the softest poly you hit with?

I agree there are few choices for low powered multi's and NXT Control is one of the top choices. Wish it came in 17g.

Regular NXT is pricey, but there's no lack of popularity there. I guess it depends on whichever string Wilson wants to promote.
If NXT was ranked #2 in comfort, I would wager that the ranking has more to do with popularity than side-by-side comparisons. I can think of a few strings that more comfortable than NXT, but they will get fewer votes because not nearly as many people have tried them.
