Babolat, does all those NEW rackets coming out have that sensor to measure spin and so on ?? It is a feature that I really don't care about. My only concern is that it plays better and easier than the previous models. does this new line do this ?

Babolat Play Pure Drive is the only model for 2013.

I'm playing with a Pure Storm as of now, and I like the power and the control it offers. However, the weight and balance doesn't let me get as much racquet head speed as I would like.

I'm currently looking into the AeroPro Team GT.

Should I pull the trigger on the Pros, or do you think there are better options for me? Or should I wait for the new racquets coming out

Thanks

The Storm to the Aeropro Team is a big jump. If you can hold off, there is a frame in the new line that is nicely in the middle and could make your demo process more complete.

Hello Daniel,
I don't know if you remember me, since a lot of people uses to write you, but about 2 months ago I was asking for your help in choosing a stick.
Anyway 1 week ago I decided to go back to the roots (I used to play 3 yeras ago a Babolat Pure Drive) and purchased a Babolat AeroPro Drive GT, stringed with Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour and I was not dissapointed.
I think it's a great stick, altough a lot of my friends told me, this stick will give me arm pain.
I have a 120m reel of Babolat Pro Hurricane and my question (I need your honest oppinion) is what is the significant difference between the Tour string and normal one? (Besides the price :))
Thanks.
Best Regards

Welcome back to the family.

PHT is silicone coated and octagonal shaped, giving the potential to impart more spin. PH is stiffer and does not slide as much. When you are stringing it and it slides against itself, it makes a noise (like a violin screech)...while PHT is smoother and easier to string with. PH is more durable.

Does that help?

Fair enough, but still at least 5 points higher than I can use any longer.

Too bad, too, as the PJs look pretty sharp, IMHO. I've had my fill of the bumblebee look.

Wait until they're released for the specs on the strung stiffness. For now, it's all speculation what the strung stiffness will be. The Pure Storms have a listed RA of 69 unstrung according to Babolat. Obviously, TW got much lower RA ratings for them when strung.

Which new model would you recommend?

From the upcoming lines, which new model would you recommend?

I have the Aero Storm Tour and PSLTD. I really like the PSLTD on everything but I feel the Aero Storm Tour gives me better spin and pace on my serves. Anything I should consider in the new lines?

I play an aggressive game and look to follow any forcing shots into the net and volley. Currently stringing with gut and really like gut but in a lower powered racquet.

Thanks,

String

Hello again,
and thanks for the quick reply. Yes, your answer helps a lot.
I will try to test it also with the Pro Hurricane 1.20, since it came stringed with Pro Hurricane Tour (I requested that) and see by myself the difference.
So far I can say that the Tour String is a nice one, nice feel, power, etc.
Best Regards,
P.S You Babolat guys...did it again. (Rafa won)

We haven't released info on the specs yet (but they are more or less floating around the web). They'll be on our facebook page the week of October 15. Thanks for the patience.

I think there is one frame in the new that fits your profile.

BabolatOfficial, if Wilson,Head,Prince, or Dunlop ever creates an account on TTW, I wouldn't be surprised if a flame war to occur.

Hi Daniel,

I have both a PS 95 and an aerostorm tour. I love the openness and spin of the aero but it doesn't have the beautiful balance and feel that the 95. The weight distribution just doesn't feel quite right. On the other hand the 95 is a too closed a pattern for me and I find it hard to generate the same amount of spin. Is there something I can do to either racket to fill their respective gaps?

Thanks a lot

My problem. The Ltd. is just such a fine stick, too bad I had to put it down due to its ultra tight pattern. The Tour version doesn't play the same, heavier SW but it's worth a try. Is there something we can expect for next year?

I know the Wilson and Prince guys very well. We usually hang out at the slams. You'd be surprised how civil we are all together.

Interesting...

I assumed that representatives of racquet companies are real estate agents or something..

Did you ever get into debates or heated arguements about the racquets or is there a mutual respect for each brand?

Hi Daniel,

Firstly, I would like to say that I've never been a fan of babolats, but the cosmetics of the new APD and PD have really taken it to a whole new level. Not to mention, the improvement in feel is what really made me make the switch to the APD. Do keep coming out with better and more beautiful cosmetics.

Secondly, I love the way the facebook page is maintained, especially the uploaded pictures of the beautiful courts. I like the calling in session with the babolat endorsed players as well. However, in my personal opinion, I feel that babolat can do more to attract consumers by improving the quality of their video adverts.
Out of all the advert videos, the best ones to me were the babolat play and connect videos, and the rest were quite boring and had repetitive music (Current mystery racket adverts #strikefirst and the practice session between rafa and thanasi)
Other than that, I love babolat and keep doing what you do!

Cheers
John

We're all passionate about tennis. If we're all doing well, it means the sport is doing well.

If we could afford to make all the video the level of the Babolat Play quality...we would.

Have you tried using some lead tape and balancing the AST?

If it was becoming too heavy, you could get a standard AS and lead tape to desired balance, then tweak for weight.

I don't have the SW info at hand on the new hybrid line (out of the office today). I'm not sure it'll be exactly what you are looking for. My gut says no. But perhaps it will be worth a demo.

A PSLtd. in 16/19[18], in a more open pattern than the current one. That would be nice.

Response

Tell them it is because they are Made in China.

The "Engineered in France" line does not do much good and reminds me of Apple's attempt at
adding value by labeling their products as "Designed in California".

Strange, while many blame their racquet, I have never seen a racquet be the problem!

I've won plenty of marches with a made in China racquet! The times I've lost had nothing to do with my racquet's country of origin!

They are designed in California, and yes, design and manufacturing are both important.

Just curious. Sponsored player, looking to possibly move into a 1/2" longer frame. Nothing in a player's stick is available to me (from my sponsor's line).

Will the Strike/Stryke have a + version?

Thank you.

Hey DB, quick question about spin.

If a Pure Drive, AeroPro Drive and Pure Storm, with the same strings at the same tension, were all used to hit the ball in the exactly the same way, same swing angle, same power etc etc....

....with the player trying to impart lots of spin on the ball.....

....which racket would create the most revolutions on the ball?

....and how would the figures compare?

I play with a Pure Drive and would be fascinated to know how much more spin (if any) I could get with an APD, and how the PS and new Strike/Control's compare?

Thanks.

The Aeropro would impart the most spin. I'm not sure of the exact amount as the increase is unlikely linear. For example, the above shot with a control test vs. me vs. Rafa. The differences we observe may be subjective to the variables.

Are there still no plans of rereleasing the original APD? Or maybe a TW exclusive just like with the old Pro Staff 85?

Used ones are selling for around 140 euro each on ****...
