That's a good hypothesis! I'm using a twisted poly as well, so it really "locks" in and doesn't move all that much. It's an interesting playing string bed to say the least haha.

New Rad mp sounds cool. Doubt it matches the magic feel of yoko but if I get a chance I will demo it, especially since it was compared to the 315 by Chris. I have been crazy busy lately so just rocking out Yoko as usual. Ill be interested if anyone gives one a run. They are one of my favorite lines of sticks and I like the 80s PJ.

Got my can handed to me last night. Drank a full '5 hour' energy before the match. Not a good idea considering I had never tried one before, needed something to wake me up. Racquet felt like it was plugged into an outlet in my hands. Needless to say, it wasn't my best outing.

have played surprisingly well when tired...go figure. maybe being too tired to over think strategy and just hit a good ball works from time to time.

If they are really "locked" and not moving then you may as well be playing with another frame. The whole point of the 99S is that the reduced number of crosses reduces interstring friction enough to allow the mains to slide and snapback freely and with great energy. BTW, Babolat has stated that the shape of RPM Blast strings is not meant to increase ball/string friction, but rather to reduce interstring friction: the flat sides of the octagons slide more freely on each other than round strings do. I highly doubt that your twisted poly is actually locked. More likely, going to a higher tension has reduced string movement a little bit, which has, as Bdard suggested, reduced the total amount of string on string sliding and therefore the total amount of heat generated. It's that heat that melts copoly strings at the intersections and notches them. The reason that they appear to not move is that they are doing what they are supposed to - sliding out of line at impact and then snapping back into position well before you can look down to see them doing it. This all happens within five-thousandths of a second.

Well not only is the weather not helping me out, but my college classes are really taking a lot of my free time for studying and preparing speeches and whatnot. So even if the weather was nice, I still don't have enough time to play. I also said that I would purchase a pair of sticks if I got the job I wanted and got an interview for, but I didn't end up getting it. So no rackets til I deserve them!

Very cool! Thanks for the insight! I find I'm still getting fairly decent "bite" on the ball with alright spin, so I don't mind the way it plays.
The biggest thing for me personally is the launch angle of the 99S just matches my strokes really well. I hit my normal forehand "rally" stroke with a fairly level swing path, not overly low to high, and the launch angle on the steam is so high that it produces a relatively deep ball easily. The even better part is, is when I'm on the run or want to hit with more low to high, the bed has enough "forgiveness" on the swing path to really arch the ball. Realistically though, I would like to move on to a different frame in the future, by which I'm not stringing in the high 60's with a stiff poly haha.

Well, stringing in the high 60s with stiff poly in a 16x15 pattern is roughly comparable to stringing in the 50s with a more conventional pattern, in terms of overall stringbed stiffness and shock to the arm. So you might not be as bad off as you think with your current setup.

Really? I figured that it played pretty soft considering how tight it was. It's amazing what a difference the few less crosses make in the feel of the bed. If I didn't know my tension, I would have guessed to to be around 55lbs, just due to how it feels.

It is definitely my favorite of the three. I finally got to take them to the court.
The Focus-Hex seemed like a solid poly, but didn't blow me away. It was good.
I wasn't expecting much from the Semi-Gut, and it didn't surprise me. Still like Prince Syn Gut w/Duraflex the best of the synthetic guts I've tried.
The Super Cable Pro seemed like a pretty good multi to me. Comfortable, good power, capable of producing spin. Not as much spin as the Focus-Hex, but enough to suit me.
Just my initial impressions. The Focus-Hex was pretty comfortable in the 315. I was pleased with that as I haven't tried any poly in that frame yet. Super Cable was not as good as Biphase, but for roughly half the price, it seems like a good option. I'll have to see how they stack up with some of the others I have to try.

I don't know about you, but for me a full multi bed has to be strung up at about 62 to get rid of any trampoline effect. I'm still a huge fan of PSGD16! It's super crisp without hurting the arm and it doesn't have any hot spots in any frame I've tried. I prefer the optic yellow.
I probably won't ever string up a full poly string bed ever again.

So update on this: Waiting for the "final" coat to dry for the night. Not really sure if I could have done anything better but white is rather hard to cover with. I wanted to paint the whole stick white, and it is a bit "unprofessional" looking compared to Shrouds really well done frames. I might do another coat tomorrow morning after letting it sit for the night, but given the brutal condition of my frame it suits it well enough. :razz:

I'm wanting to get my hands on the Graphite 100 LB and 95S. Speaking of YY, I think the VCORE Xi team plus looks interesting. It's a solid looking 27.5 option as long as I add a leather grip and a little lead in the handle. Get it up to 330grams and it might be magical. There's just not enough extended options these days....
Haven't tried it that high. I like it in the mid 50's, so I haven't changed yet.
PSGD is easily my favorite synthetic gut of the few I've tried. HEAD PPS is my least favorite. Like you, I'm a fan of the crisp feel of the PSGD. I'm not crazy about the Discho Semi-Gut, but I wasn't expecting a whole lot. Just figured I'd try it.

I have a couple sets of the optic yellow sitting around here that I might try in the pdr if I don't get rid of it. The arm is pulsating with pain ATM and I just cut out the rpm with a fresh set of prince premier power 16 that I received for the play test. It felt a lot like xcel when I strung it up (@60lbs) so if it doesn't help my TE, I'm getting rid of the roddick stick.
My favorite setup in my pro open still is tied with psgd 16 and lightning 16 full beds @58lbs.

Why are you stringing so tight in the Roddick? Drop the tension a few pounds if your arm is in that much pain. I was at 55lbs and I was fine control wise and comfort wise in that frame.

I really like the Super Cable Pro. Not as good as Biphase, but still good and cheaper.
Not a fan of the Semi-Gut.
The Focus-Hex seems like a good quality poly for less than $8. I strung it at 51 lbs and find it to be pretty comfortable in the 315. It does a pretty good job of producing spin. I have not played with many polys and had not played with any in a while, so it is hard for me to say how it compares to anything else. It seems like a good string, but I prefer multis or gut. I just don't want to work as hard as is required to get the same depth with a poly. I like the easier spin, but not as much as the easier power. The comfort is secondary as I really have not had any issues with poly, but I do enjoy the comfort of the gut and multis.
The Super Cable is one I may come back to ( if it is available), when I finish my current inventory, which will be a long while likely.

Cyclone has probably been my favorite, but it is hard to compare due to the length of time since using and the fact that I used it in a different frame. The Extreme Pro seemed made for Poly as it helped tame some of that frame's power. The TFight doesn't need to be tamed.

Still losing the Battle of Wounded Knee. Doing regular PT but it's only incrementally better, pain comes right back if the knee is really pushed. Beyond frustrating. Haven't played in ages.

For me, no. It just does everything well and nothing bad while being a pretty arm friendly tweener.
Just picked up a Redondo MP via local trading site. It has the leather grip with babolat tonic strings fullbed, along with two strips of lead tape on both sides running from 7 to 10-11 o'clock. Weighed the frame and it is 350g. I'm not familiar with lead tape so approx how much was added and what benefit is having long strips from 7 to 10?
Also picked up a second hand Ki Q Tour from TW. Slapped on a yonex overgrip over the black replacement grip and a rubber band and it weighs 361g... that seems a little much! :/

Haha, man a guy that I string for uses full gut @ 45lbs in a PDR. Dudes a solid 4.0. He's got clean strokes and loves how it plays. That's a "power" set up if I'v ever seen one!
