Nadal about to slam the door on Djoko

Because I've gotten involved in useless discussions like these with some trolls here. My love for the fairness of conversations, clouded my judgement to not argue with haters. I'm learning to not get involved with Internet trolls!

See, my initial comments to you here. I just said that we don't know who will win today, both of them have a chance. Wasn't it a fair comment? And it could have ended there easily!
But then you dragged me into- how Rafa won tournament without Fed playing, and then how I should learn to use internet. YOU Are trying to drag me to your level! Just drop it.

Anything can happen in the match. It's sports! Rafa has a slight MENTAL edge. But considering its Indoors, Ferru can trouble him well.

Don't feed the trolls lol, let his butt hurt all it wants to in solitary confinement :)

I'm not dragging you anywhere. You can't admit when an argument is lost after having voluntarily made a few petty and inane remarks. And now you're back pedalling trying to save face.

Can't wait for #245.

And actually, your first comment was this one, which I didn't even bother responding to. But you just had to keep pursuing a debate.

Lol! I think you're drinking too much. Time to put down the whiskey bottle

Who's dragging who? Hmmmm?

Listen Whiskey,
I agreed from the first post that the match might be closer than expected because of Indoors.
I checked their stats outside clay. Nadal leads 3-2 on HC. Ferru leads 1-0 on carpet. They are 1-1 in Dubai Exhibition.

Your credibility was lost, the moment you said - clay court matches aren't real matches. And you termed a Masters1000 event as "Mickey Mouse" just because Fed didn't participate in it. That moment alone, you proved yourself to be a blind RF worshipper & a biased poster!

Hope my post brings Christmas early to you, considering how desperately you're waiting for it!

Nadal can "slam the door on Djoko" alright but looking how things are going right now Djokovic is gonna be damn close in the rankings at the end of the year so it's gonna be fun watching Nadal trying to defend his points next year. And failing of course. Nadal can take the year-end-no-1. He's gonna lose his top spot pretty fast, though, LOL!

Until RG Novak has more points to defend than Rafa. So you are not right.

It was epic that Rafa took back the #1 ranking a week before Novak would be at same weeks as Rafa.

Really? Apart from the AO Nadal is defending 1000 points in the SA swing, 1000 in Indian Wells and a gazillion points on clay. Djokovic apart from the AO can gain several points in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome and the French.

Looks like Ralph closed the door but forgot to lock it. Did Toni forget to tell him to lock it?

If Djok loses tomorrow, the entire conversation will be moot :)

Nadal tanked today so Ferrer could take out Djokovic in the final and secure his YE#1.. yay! ;)

If Djokovic ends the year as world number 1, he will be like Lendl in 1989, i.e. outperformed when it mattered most.

Nice prediction by whiskey. Well done. I didn't know Ferrer was better at a faster court. I thought it'd be the opposite, but ferrer fired off winners consistently today. Nadal couldn't do a thing to stop the slice serve to his backhand then the inside out winner by Ferrer.

Predictable butthurt from the Nadal camp, your tears are delicious.

But doesn't Nadal just need to win one more match on the year?
Let's say:
Nadal goes 1-2 at the WTF and doesn't make the semis, while Djoko goes perfect again. Then add on two wins in the Davis Cup final, who will be YE #1?

LOL. I'm chilled, mate. Tournaments are much more important to me as far as being a Nadal fan is concerned. Nadal has already been world number 1 and YE #1. And whoever finishes as YE #1, Nadal has outperformed Djokovic when it mattered most (i.e. at the French Open and US Open).

Nadal is not a lock to get by Ferrer.

The h2h is 20-4... but Nadal is 1-2 against him on fast courts with the lone win resulting from a Ferrer retirement. Ferrer also won their only indoor match.

Makes you wonder doesn't it? How lucky Nadal has been with how the surfaces have been divided up. Imagine if there were three indoor hard court Masters Series, an indoor hard court slam, and no clay Masters or slams. Not to mention the lack of grass Masters.

If my math is right, Djokovic would end the year no.1.

He needs to win one or two to clench YE #1?

He could have shut the door on Djokovic saga. Instead, he gave back the mental edge. Watch out for 2014! :D

For an outright clinch of YE #1, he'd have to win two matches. But thats if Djokovic doesn't lose anymore matches for the rest of the season (including Davis Cup).

If Djokovic doesn't go perfect at WTF or loses tomorrow, he just has to win 1.

Yeah, mate. Imagine what Nadal's H2H with Federer or Djokovic would like if the game of tennis wasn't there. No tennis, no winning h2h for him. Damn lucky he got into tennis.

DC will be added? Race might give Djokovic some motivation for WTF and DC. Anyway, Nadal will win at least 2 matches considering his draw.

Yeah, but it's interesting how close they will be. If one of three matches (RG SF, W F, OR USO F) had gone the other way, we'd have a different YE #1. Heck if Djokovic had even pulled out that Montreal SF things may have been different.

The only reason this is still a debate is:

Australian Open: Nadal still out
Wimbledon: First round loss

10 points for Nadal from these 2 tournaments, compared to Djokovic's 3,200 points.

So? Those are two out of 4 most important tournaments. Doing so bad at two of them is reason enough why Nadal does not deserve YE #1.

Another comparison for you. Slam points this year:

Djokovic - 5120
Nadal - 4010

If everything was on clay the tour would fall apart because all the American money would pull out, which is a majority of the funding of the ATP.

Isn't that happening already? The US have whinged and whinged about the lack of American dominance in men's tennis since Sampras and Agassi rode off into the sunset. Yet the answer is simple, end this emphasis of big serve and big forehand on hardcourt surfaces. That isn't good for learning the current game. Clay is the best surface for learning tennis, and groundstrokes, movement and strategy matter far more than raw power in the modern game.

Any #1 who lost in the first round of Wimbledon (the most important tournament) is a paper champ.

Yawn. That's one tournament of the year, albeit a major. Nadal won 2 of the 4 majors, and the first major of the year took place while Nadal was still out of the game.

Normally a multi slam champions is a lock at ending the year #1(see the past 10 years). The reason why Nadal is not a lock is because he performed poorly at other times and skipped part of the year. It's not Nole's fault if he end the year #1 because his results/performances are well balance throughout the year.

Apart from the first round loss at Wimbledon, when has Nadal performed poorly this year in terms of tournament results? He was still out at the time of the Australian Open. He skipped Miami, Halle and Basel.

That's true but winning 2 slams is more important (and significant) than being consistent in all of them.

Wtf, how did Nadal manage to clown this up? A month ago I thought he would have had YE no. 1 in the bag by now.
