Here is a replacement grip that has not been mentioned yet.

I personally like to play with replacement grips. It last much longer than over grips (at least 5 - 10 times longer).

Forten Cushion Grip Bulk Roll (150ft)

Features a soft, highly absorbent and Perforated finish that is cushioned with interlocked nylon micro-fiber for extraordinary comfort and shock dampening.

It is 1.6 mm thick, 25 mm wide, and a 45" section weighs about 14 grams. The 150' roll will last me a long time.

Thanks! Can you comment on the feel of the leather? I felt it one time, and it felt extremely soft and supple, unlike most of the leather grips available today that are pretty rough and very stiff (probably are not even real leather). It's what I would imagine fairways feeling like.

Yes, it is rather soft and more of a dark color than the ones that are usually lighter colored and stiff. I never had a problem with comfort or feel. Im just reweighting my tec so i am going to shave 10 grams off the stick with a lighter grip for now.

Here is another replacement grip that is not easy to find but very nice. Wilson website does not even list it. It can usually be found in some department stores, not specifically for tennis.

The exact name is "Wilson Cushion Pro". Wilson makes several replacement grips with the term cushion.

It has extra cushion and will increase the grip size by 1/16 to 1/8, depending on how tight you wrap.

The grip is 44" long and weighs 16 grams.

Am I reading this wrong, or is the Kimony tecni leather only .33 thickness???

Also, for anyone who's used this grip, I'm wondering if you can comment on the feel. I feel that using a grip that thin would feel like I'm holding the bare pallet itself. I always put og's over leather, and I have a racquet that is one size too big on the handle, and am wondering if this might be my solution.

Great thread! I´m curious about the obviously appreciated Gamma Hi -tech replacement grip. How thick is it? Thicker than 1.8? Please name some other
nice & firm 1.8 grips. Can`t stand soft, mushy grips decreasing in size during play, such as Head hydrosorb tour and others...

It has been MIA for a while now at TW. I just bought them from Amazon with free shipping (Prime). This doesn't seem as widely distributed as in the past, but I doubt it is going away anytime soon.

Not sure how to search for what I'm looking for but I thought I'd start here instead of starting a whole new thread. How can I find the weight difference between the stock ResiPro grips that come on the newer Prince racquets (the 98 Tour ESP to be exact) and a Boris Becker leather grip? I am trying to add weight to my handle without adding lead since I like to use overgrips.

I don't know if you've seen the big list on the first page, but here's what I'm able to piece together with that reference as a guide.

1. One of the things we discovered when compiling this list is that QC tolerances (and especially for leather grips) can vary quite a bit. If you buy any ten leather grips of the same model, its not unusual that the spread btwn the lightest and the heaviest is 6-8 grams. Becker is one of the heaviest leather grips. Untrimmed it will range from 30-36 grams. Your installation weight will vary depending upon how much you trim off, but figure you'll trim off about 5 grams or so. So your final installation will be 25-31 grams or thereabouts.

2. With regards to a ResiPro from a stock 98T ESP, you are in luck. Torres has provided us with those digits from that racquet and grip. Two racquets, both from an L3 grip, came in at 14.0 grams and 14.5 grams.

3. So, yer lookin at adding somewhere in the range of 11-17 grams.

4. You can find links to estimate your new balance point, and other customization tools on the first page. I know you are trying to avoid using lead, but one of the advantages to it's use, is that it allows for fine tuning and adjusting for the always present QC tolerance/weight variation issue.

I'm not sure I do have a good alternative option. Pro Hybrids are quite unique in terms of their weight, thinness and firmer feel. I would have thought that you'd still be able to get them online - there are a number of retailers still carrying stock up.

It also seems wider than the leather grip it will be replacing. Its an inch wide. and thicker too, but I cant really measure that.

Wow, now that's interesting. 2x heavy as the heaviest leather grip. Web page says it's 40" long. That's about 4-8 inches shorter than than most grips. I'm thinking that it's so thick that its not really meant to overlap at all and that explains the shorter length.

Yep you are right. Though its a bit thicker in the middle so you probably could overlap it, though I didnt. Actually ended up trimming a bit more than an inch off at the top of the handle- diagonally.

Just wrapped it and its great. just bouncing the ball around in the house and trying to frame it, I think it will really do a ton to limit vibrations.

I built up some bevels (2,4,6,8) with some thin cardboard, wrapped with the Shocktape, and then put on 3 layers of over grip. It Is just a bit over 5 1/4" but because it is a bit squarish it feels smaller.

If this works out like I think, that is awesome because it will save me the silicone drama, and for me at least the weight is great. Though I did endup about 5g over target which I am not stressing about because in the past some of the weight was on the buttcap, and well I love a headlight racket. If I was particular like some Chicago-ans, I could trim some at the top and be OK,

So far the only down sides for the masses (besides the weight) that I can see, is the price and the smell. I had to leave it outside over night it smelled so bad.

Wilson Pro-Hybrid

19g - removed from a stock 2012 Wilson BLX 6.1 95 (G3). Length 111cm (factory fitted / trimmed).

Amplifeel graphite/basalt 'planks' on the 2012 6.1. Not really sure if they're a marketing gimmick or actually do something.

Thanks Torres.

I found some in the UK...shipping back to the US. Slightly over $10 bucks each with shipping.

Since TW doesn't care them any longer, is it a violation to list retailers carrying them? If it is a violation, can you send me a PM of any US retailers carrying them. The next best option I have found is a leather grip. I just prefer the Pro Hybrid better.

Appreciate your help.

This might sound a bit strange, but does anyone know how much the plastic wrapper around the handle of a new racquet weighs?

Am trying to find a reasonable balance match for my current stick against some in the shop (who obviously won't let me remove the wrapper from the handle).

I use the Yonex VCore 97 Tour, which is a heavy racquet, and the stock Yonex grip, which I have not been able to find, weighs just 11 grams trimmed. I have been using the Kimony Leather. They vary considerably in weight, but I have been able to find some s low as 11 grams. Unfortunately, I need a bit of cushion, it seems, even addition to the overgrip, as one of my fingers tends to get a little numb with this set up. The Tourna Pro Thin is light, and I can get that down to 11 or 12 grams. Wondering, however, if anyone knows how much the Wilson Sublime weighs, untrimmed and trimmed. An answer would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Casco, Yeah cool, there are thickness and untrimmed weight specs digits for Wilson Sublime on the first page of the thread. Seems like maybe you are on a quest for light, thin, and comfortable? Fulfilling any two of those criteria is pretty easy, but as you have probably figured out, all three of those can be more difficult.

Somebody should send Rafa a link to this thread LOL. That quarter sized bloody wound where a blister used to be looks painful. I'll probably get raked over the coals for having the audacity to link injury to something other than "good technique" but just playing with a bare pallet wrapped with two overgrips doesn't seem to be working for him.

This is in addition to all the tape wrapped on his fingers (even on good days) and cant help but wonder if switching to a thin, comfortable base grip, plus his usual overgrip should be in his future.

Haha, I was thinking along similar lines. I believe he does use a Syntec with one OG, but I do wonder if his grip size is affecting his hand. With the tape across his blister, added to all the tape on his fingers, there's not a lot of hand left. Maybe he should review your thread on grip thickness and perhaps consider making some adjustments before Roland Garros.
