Not the match we have all been waiting for but maybe one even better.

Gael is playing top 5 tennis right now. Peak Monfils is one of the GOATs , only peak Safin and of course the greatest sportsman of all time, peak Rios, can compare.

Second match thursday night?

I am picking Monfils in 4. I think he can win this whole thing, he thinks it aswell.

Who does everyone pick? 24 hours to vote.

Fed had a practice session this round but if he things playing like he did against Bautista will work against Monfils he has another thing coming.

Fed's level these last 2 rounds have been pretty low to say the least.

Fed in 4. But hes going out to Berdych who is playing some very dominating tennis at the moment

Lets hope Monfils can finally do it.

He played a good match vs Dimitrov. If he repeats that level of play I doubt Fed has much chance.

However Monfils being Monflls, he will probably be in his clown mode in the QF and gift a free pass to Fed.

Fed will most likely win, but it sure would be awesome to see Monfils win a GS!

Monfils goofs off too much. Can't see him being focused 100 percent against Fed. No one is expecting him to win and a lot of times, Monfils is just happy to get far in a tourney and make a good pay day

Federer doesn't have to play at a higher level to beat those clowns. He will bring a higher level to beat Monfils.

Back to 2004-2007 mode! Practice sessions through rounds 1-5, trying things around to tune the game for the big matches!

And what do you have to say about Monfils? He won two of his sets by hitting safe balls which Dimitrov bungled. If he plays like that against Federer he will get swiped - so that match isn't a good indicator of his true form at all. And Dimitrov still hit more winners than Monfils!

You serious about PeakFils being as good as Peak Safin/Peak Rios? No way man, no way. Monfils is a great talent, he may be as talented as the two but in terms of realized potential in a given match, he's not in the same league.

I actually think Gael has good chance to pull the upset. He has been playing Federer fearlessly for a while now.

However should he get to the final against Djokovic, he will get iced.

apparently , monfils' peak level isn't much higher than robredo's according to some people here :roll:

Djokovic is playing much better than he was during the HC swing preceding the USO, not much hope for Robredo in this hypothetical, let alone Monfils.

Monfils been struggling physically, not to mention his ever frequent clowning. No way he can hang in with the physical beast Federer, in a BO5.

Fed in 3. Absolutely laughable. Monfils is a joke. He's happy to get to the quarters. He's done. 2,5, and 3. I feel Fed fans' pain. We Nadal fans do the same thing--getting worked up over matches that have absolutely no chance in hell of being close. Yes, I've worried and worried when Nadal faces players he ends up destroying. Only outsiders (fans that aren't so invested) can be the impending beat downs their favorites are going to deliver.

Fed's US Open is decided tomorrow. When Murray takes out Nole, it's clear sailing for Fed. If Nole beats Muz, which I don't think will happen, then I see Nole making the finals and giving Federer a lot of trouble, although I still see Fed getting by in 5.
