Fed may look solid (well, not THAT solid) the last matches,
but once his confidence will be tested,
that's when the trouble will start.
maybe Monfils is passable, but after that....
really hope he'll pull this through.

Two of my favs. If we can't get Federer V Dimitrov, I am very happy to see Federer V Monfils. This could be a very fun match to watch. :)

Bobby actually watched the match. Monfils played lackadaisical tennis in the 3rd set and relied on Dimitrov's UFEs, not his own shotmaking, to win.

Peak Monfils is GOAT??? "THIS IS BLOCKBUSTER CITY"???? Ehhh? Son, are you on shrooms? Now I find Monfils as entertaining as the next guy, but this seems more than a wee bit overhyped.

Monfils will test him hard, but right now Federer's motivation is larger than anything. You hear a lot of times when it comes to tight matches it's about who wants it more. In 2013 it was Nadal, this year's Wimbledon final it was Djokovic, and Federer has found confidence from his Wimbledon final and hardcourt season and he wants it more.

That is why I would pick Fed against Nole.

People will laugh at you for the motivation comment but it is 100% correct. Whether it will be enough to determine the result I don't know.

Not sure about this one. If Fed goes on, can I watch yet another match where Fed gets blown off the court by Berdych or Djoko? Yes, I remember that Wimby '14 went to 5 sets, but most people forget that Djoko should really have won that in 4, or even straights.

Hopefully Fed in 3. If someone is to take him out, it would be nice if they could actually go all the way and win the Slam, and I don't see Monfils doing that. I don't see Berdych doing that either. Same applies for Novak on the other side, so I hope we see a Djokovic-Federer final.

hopefully you all aren't basing Monfils level on his match against Dimitrov!

Dimitrov has been in poor form this entire US HC stretch. i think he's been under the weather, but have not heard any reports of such.

Gael just does not have the racquet head skills to beat an inform Federer on a quick USO court at night. But, i was wrong about the Murray-Nole 1/4, so maybe i am with this one as well...

I don't get the 'Monfils is playing awesome right now' thing. I don't think he's played that great. Good, but nothing special, not Top 5 level like was said and I don't think this will be that much of a match.

Federer in 4 if he's feeling charitable.

If Monfils takes his USO chances seriously (for a change), this will be a war. That is win for fans no matter who comes out of it.

Monfils is too funny. The crowd is gonna be against him the whole match. I can see him getting ****ed off easily.

Its sad how hes such a great player but he doesnt have that controlled aggresion like djoko has. Instead of taking a chance and using his power he goes full on pusher mode

he'll play a good first set but I dont see him playing solid all match.


Unless he maybe takes advice from his countrymen simon/tsonga and play serious for a whole match. hes gonna give fed ez win

You know me, Hitman. I don't believe in this nonsense called jinxing but I think whoever who wins this match has very little chance against Novak. I like Novak too. I have postponed my 18 dreams to next July for the time being

Fed in 4. But hes going out to Berdych who is playing some very dominating tennis at the moment

All of his opponents were higher than 300.

And in case you didn't know, Fed's opponents have been on average higher ranked than Novak's

His serve last match wasn't great at all! Hopefully he's more serious and focused. Of course he can win but he needs to stay focused and get the job done. I'm really nervous but I think he'll pull it out. Hopefully.
