who will remain top 10 player in five years?
federer, nadal, nalbandian, ancic, baghdatis?

Nalbandian won't be top five by any means, nor will Federer still be number one. That's ridiculous.

i was just wondering where will federer be in five years.. he would still be "young" and without injuries-he could still play great!

federer, nadal, murray, monfils, ancic. (in no particular order).

For fun...
federer, nadal, safin, agassi (lol, i did say for fun), davydenko (will play every tournament known to man, even five years later ;) )

He'll have about 16-17 slams by then.

IMO, in 5 years, Nadal isn't gonna be in top 5 cos injuries problems. He's punishing his body, taking it to the limit. With all this punishment his body is not gonna last long.

I should think that in a few years, Berdych will certainly be in the top ten if not five.

People are WAY overrating Murray.

british people tend to overrate him.
i would bet on berdych too,đoković maybe and baghdatis will have a few entries in top 10

I dont know about overrating Murray, the kid has a complete game, once he improves his fitness and fills in, he'll be a contender for the top 5.

Unfortunately for American tennis, we're going down the tubes. With Agassi's retirement, and Ginepri not playing his best, that leaves James Blake and an inconsistent Andy Roddick for us, with nothing that promising on the horizon.

Remember when we had Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Jim Courier, Jimmy Connors, and John McEnroe all playing at once? That was a good time for America.

Federer strikes me as a "all or nothing" kinda guy.
I don't think he'll stick around much unless he is the king or has a chance to
be the king.

Anyway, here are the ranking 5 years ago. Check where they are now...
None of these guys are in top 10 right now. I don't think even Federer
would be in top 10 in 5 years.

I would say only younger guys (Nadal and Baghadatis) will remain
in top 10 after 5 years from now. And replace everyone else with
new young up and coming players. And then it will be the top 10
of 5 years later.

Maybe Federer can be an exception. If he stays within top 5, say,
5 years from now, I would say he would become truel G.O.A.T. by that
time already....

Nadal at 25 wont be anywhere near as physicaly able as Fed was at 25. He will be lucky to be anywhere near the top 5 at 25 with his game style.

Who knows. Federer and Nadal should be a lock. Nothing has really stabilized in the top 10 yet. Blake will have to settle in to stay in the top five. Plenty of guys have the game, it is just a matter of who matures, and how they do it.

Fed has been No. 1 for about 3 years now. I don't think he'll keep it up for the next 5 years. Heck, I don't even think Nadal would be No. 1 in the next 5 years. He might be No. 1 soon, but probably not in the next 5 years.

I am not a ******* moron. One does not have to be a ******* to look at the stress Nadal's game puts on his body and recognize he will be lucky to even be on the pro tour by his mid 20s let alone a serious contender. You must be a Nadalaniac.

He has a better chance to be #1 5 years from now then Nadal will have to be in the top 3, or maybe even the top 5, 5 years from now. People who play like Fed are typicaly close to their best, as long as they stay motivated, until 30-32. People with Nadal's are lucky to win their last slam title at 25, with his stressful and wearing game, Nadal #1 in the World in 5 years, ROTFL!! helloworld=nadalgirl26 probably.

I think some consdierable challenges are forming with players who are
19-21 year old. The thing is that when they see thier fellow teenager
Nadal wins slams and reach finals, they feel like they should be able to
do the same. I see very young slam champions next 2-3 years.
Kinda like when Courier,Chang,Agassi, Sampras brokes the scene
together within 2-3 year of time frame. But the thing is Federer
is still pretty young at barely 25. The force might be still too strong for these
young guns to sprout, if you know what I mean....
Let's see what happens in next 2-3 years...

1 Hewitt, Lleyton
2 Safin, Marat

8 Ferrero, Juan Carlos

Roddick is a mess right now largely due to poor coaching choices. Eventually he will find a suitable coach to work with, one that knows how to best exploit his strengths and give him a game plan, and if he does wouldnt he at the very least have a chance to remain a top 10 player?
There is no doubt he still has massive weapons within him-serve, forehand, he just has to find a way to bring them out in a more effective manner, use them more efficiently, and play smarter tennis then he is currently doing.

Nalbandian is an extremely consistent player, rock solid, he is not spectacular but he is extremely solid and reliable. I dont see how him staying in the top 10 is crazy. He wont stay in the top 3, I would agree with that, but could stay in the top 10.

As for Donald Young he is a kid in over his head right now, but how would it be that surprising that as a 22/23 year old he could be a potentil bottom end top 10 player. Do you really think just because he is embarassing himself now vs older bigger men that he will never be a successful pro?

It is not like todays mens field is stunningly great in quality, you would know that probably as well. You dont have to be superman to be a top 10 player.

I absolutely think when Federer is 30 he will be the #1 player in the world. I don’t think it’s that farfetched just because when he's in his 30s his game will drop drastically. Maybe when he reaches 35 then I may think otherwise.

I doubt Fed would still be no.1 at 30. At the pace it is played today, you really have to remain in top shape all the time. However, I think he'll still be one of the best players because he doesn't stress his body as much as some of the other players do.

Djokovic is looking like the rising star. Federer will lose some of his power and speed. Nadal might be worn out from injuries, but then again maybe not. He could get a lot better by improving his serve. He's definitely the player to watch these 2 years.

Some of the young guys will also step up to fill the shoes of those who are aging now.

1 Nadal
2 Djokovic
3 Federer
4 Gasquet
5 Murray
