Hi All,

It seems there are many versions of the racquet "Head Radical Tour".

I bought a couple of matching ones and here are the pics..

These are of same length as the Head Tour Xtra Long Green..

Wondering how this racquet is compared to the Classic Prestige racquets ?

Appreciate any feedback..

Thanks

That was one of the SWEETEST racquets I have ever hit with. However, it was also one of the heaviest in stock form I have hit with! When I was in trouble, there was no getting out of it. If only people would hit the ball right back to me, I would still be playing this stick! ;)

Hi,

The pics i posted i copied from some one else post. i will replace them once i take pictures of my racquets. Both of mine are mid plus. It says 630 cm ^ 2

Another thing i noticed is at 2'0 clock on the racket frame i just saw "twin".

Some of other posters mentioned (or the pics i saw has twin tube !!)..

Thanks

This Radical came out between 1995-1997. It is Radical Tour with Twintube (Zebra). 1998 Radical Tour is Yellow with some silver and red. Nice and soft racquet with healthy swing-weight.

I think the green Head Tour Xtra Long came out about the same time as the Zebra (no Twintube). It is pretty much the same as Head Pro Tour 280 with an extra inch (28 inches).

Top 3 Head Radical Tour MP(Zebra), The bottom is 1998 Radical Tour MP. Made in Austria

Great post!

Always loved the graphics of the 98 Rad, had 3 97 TT Radical MP's bagged for a while but never got my hands on the 98....one of the few Radical MP's I haven't owned. Does it play the same as the 97 Zebras?

It does plays almost the same as 97 Zebra except it swings just a bit lighter. Yes I agreed with 98 Rad graphics...simply Radical :)

Hi All,

Yesterday i took my Radical tours to the court and played for some time and it didn't feel right. I had some wrist pain after a while.

I might need to balance these racuqets and restring them.

Generally i play with different racquets.I never felt any pain all these years.

Here are a list of racuqets i use on a regular basis..( % of use in the last couple of months)

1) LM Radical MP ( 30%)
2) LM Prestige MP ( 30%)
3) Wilson Ultra 2 ( 15%)
4) Head Tour Extra long MP ( 10%)
5) AeroGel Two Hundred / Three Hundred ( 5%)
6) Head Ti Radical MP ( 5%)
7) Head Prestige Tour 300 (5%)

Could some one pls post what's the Stiffness Rating of Radical Tours..

Thanks..

Head Radical Tour MP (Zebra)

Head size: 97 sq. in. / 626 sq. cm.
Balance: 7pts Head Light
Length: 27 inches / 69 cm
Swingweight: 339
Weight: 12.2oz / 346g
Stiffness: 58 (0-100)
String Pattern: 18 Mains / 20 Crosses

***These are the specs for a standard length***

I think you've mentioned above that your Radicals are XL version which may have higher swingweight. Many things can cause wrist pain but as you can see the stiffness is only 58...May be an extra length put a little more stress on your wrist?

hi guys which radical tour has the best feel?

the original, bumblebee I think?
twintube
or liquidmetal

i Radical L5 MP austrian version is as close to pro stock in a retail radical that you can get IMHO.

Very hard to find, I am now blessed to have a pair.

The 1998 version had the best feel, balance and flex... and was a Twin Tube Model. The 1997 version was stiffer and harder to get thur the air. The 1996 Radical Tour was not a Twin Tube and never had the right feel.. a bit on the raw side. I am speaking of the O/S versions..since they ones posted by the OP. Can't speak to the MPs...never used them. Power way too low...too hard to generate any pace unless you string them with Natty gut 17 in the low 50s.

Concur. Cannot compare any Radical that followed the 98 model. Too light, stiff, and lacking in feel.

You have the dates wrong on the releases of the Radical Tour.
1993-The original Radical Trisys Tour 260 AKA Bumble bee
1995-The first Radical Tour TwinTube Aka zebra
1998-The last real Radical teh Radical Tour TwinTube yellow, silver, red. Both Radical Tour TwinTube are supposed to be the same with the onlt difference is cosmetic.

Well your wrong. I have the catalogs at home. You don't know what you are talking about.

But here are some photos for you.

Pretty sure the Trisys series came out before the Radical Tour Series.

In 1993 HEAD launched the Radical Trisys 260 then in 1994 they changed the name to Radical Tour 260. While in Europe the Bumble bee yellow and black was simply called Radical Tour.
I am cleaning up my mid plus frames and I saw some interesting stuff.. I have a few Head Radical Tour which look identical to PRO Tour so I CAP them all up and weight.. here are some pictures

nwhlci.jpg

5n9j00.jpg

242yc2b.jpg

The CAP radical Tour & PT630 CAP weight about 320g (no leather grip, no string). Put on string and leather grip, dampener it weight up to 350g.

I took them both out for a spin and quite to my surprise both play alot & alot better with the CAP on.. Very stable ground strokes & solid in the volleys.. I felt both are identical in term of playing and feel.. so is that Radical Tour just difference name or the ones I have just a paint job of the actuall PT630.. I will show the overlay pictures of both next..

VS dates are correct....

I believe the ti Radical came out in 99 (also a twin tube model and a great frame BTW)

Loved the graphics on the 98 rad tour, always thought it strange it was only on tour for a yr. Nearly all the head pros were playing that paint job at New Haven in August 98......

Ha ha I had 6 of em should know.....only my PT 630 paint job ti Radical remains.

Bottom line I think here is up to and including the austrian L5 i Radical they are all amazing frames.......the L4 chinese i Radical is fine, a little too much pop for my taste.....I think most if not all subsequent radicals are L4....thus my migration to the Prestige line.

If you all get a chance to grab any of em cheap do not hesitate.......

The only OS radical I have played is the ti Radical and a pair of those is in the closet - will migrate to those when my game drops and needs a little more pop.

YW VS, your continued participation here is invaluable. I am sure most Head frame affectionados appreciate it.

Here are my newest additions. They all made in Austria.

(3) 1993 Original Radical Trisys 260 (Midplus). The third one that has only "Radical Tour" written on the side is the European model.

Hi,

I recently got a Radical Tour (Black & Yellow) and wondering what's printed on the handle under the Original Grip. Would you mind letting me know.

Also what CAP Grommets did you use ?

Thanks

Wow I missed this sorry.

The only 2 I have ever seen in person are the pair I own.....they have the sticky paint vs the later glossy finish of the L4 Chinese versions(those are nice frames too but feel completely different)

Almost none of the lettering is readable on my 2 frames but I believe they had the usual i tour series graphic in small letters on the outer throat area.

I believe the only L5 i Radicals are Austrian made with the sticky paint, but again I have only had my hands on these two.

I put leather grip and lead about 4 in at 3/9.

They play amazing.

I can probably post pics of them if you need to see the frames.....I know I have posted them somewhere else around these parts, you can search for the thread.....

Also should note that they play very close to all of my MP Prestige frames....little problem playing MP Prestige one day and these pair the next....the power level is the same and the location of the sweetspot is similar as well.

I have quite a few Head 18x20 frames as you can see in my sig and these are the equal of anything else I have.

Outstanding frames it took me years to find a 2nd one.

There are pallets under the grip. I believe they are TK76 pallets if memory serves me.

I LM Prestige MP CAP grommets. You can also use MG/YT Prestige MP CAP grommets they fit also.

All of these Head Radical Tours (specifically for my case, the 1998 TT version) used TK82 pallets, correct? I did some customization a summer ago and that's what I think I remember, I should have wrote it down. I'm like 99% sure the pallet said TK82, but I got them used of the bay, so they may have been customized before I got them...(didn't look like it though)...

Hi. Just bought a Head Radical Tour Twin Tube MP and noticed, that it's a line all over the frame, it seems like the racquet is made from 2 parts which are glued together=) I haven't seen such lines on other racquets which I played with, so maybe somebody knows have seen smthng like that? Here are some pics

Awesome racquet! No, they were not made from 2 parts and glued together. That line is the seem from the mold. These original TwinTube racquets were not painted. The outer "Tube" had the decals on them therefore there was no painting of these racquet. On later TwinTube HEAD started painting over the racquet when it came out of the mold.

They did not write specs on the racquets back then. You were lucky if they gave you the string pattern and suggested tension range.

If there is not Made in Austria under HEAD then they are made in China re-issues.
I recently got an old Bumblebee from a thrift store, but it simply says "Austria" and "Radical Tour" like what's seen in these pics. Is this the original racquet, but the European model that Thepowerofchoice had mentioned a few posts up? (The pics aren't my own, but happen to be from his/her Photobucket library.)

Yes, Euro version. I’m from England, UK and it’s the one I have. American version is the Trisys 260 in the same vein as Pro Tour 630/Trisys 280. Long live the old Head classics!!

That was a rerelease from about 2000 that was made in China. I remember seeing them at Sports Authority In the USA
The originals had Made In Austria written on the frame under HEAD.
