Here are a couple of points from some hitting tonight. We were not playing very consistent tonight.

Is this the same partner as in the previous videos? How old is he?

I think he is in his early 40's and is in really good shape and covers the court very well. Yes he is the same partner from other videos, we play at least 1-2 times a week.

I didn't watch all of it but you seem to be hitting harder than before.

I have been working on hitting harder and bringing the trajectory down at times. We were both off a little and we were going for more aggressive shots. Which is the way he plays most of the time, he goes for more than I do but I was working on more attacking shots. Combine that with being off a little and I was making way to many errors.

I have found that once I have to play indoors in the winter I have to hit more aggressive shots, indoor tennis favors the gunslinger more. I am a better outdoor player but am learning to be more aggressive indoors. This game is weird the way you can play solid one night and feel good about your game and then go out 2 days later and don't play near as well.

We played a set a couple of days ago that was really good and competitive with many very tough rallys, it took close to an hour to finish. Then yesterday when I filmed we did not play near as consistent and nowhere near as many long points. I guess you never know until you go out on the court everything can change quickly.

Yeah, I know that feeling far too well myself. I think the biggest reason for big day-by-day changes in playing level is an unorthodox technique, e.g. wristy armswinging which can be very sensitive to small timing errors.

Well you may be right because I definitely have unorthodox technique.

The other thing that I would recommend is unrelated to tennis, I think you could definitely benefit from a better camera at this point since you like to film yourself and follow the changes in your technique.

I just filmed today with a new camera. I don't know what happened with my old camera but it was not taking a clear picture.

seems a way to beat you is a short slice to your forehand, I haven't seen your opponent give you any, on the bh side you will neutralize it with a good slice of your own, but with that extreme grip / swing trajectory how do you handle low balls?

I will use a forehand slice on a shot that is to low to that side.

Honestly, if you want to advance another half level, you need to devote more of your time to improving your serve. It is like an afterthought for you now. When you are playing stronger players who are not bothered by your shots, getting free points on serve will become crucial. I'm not saying it's terrible now because it isn't, but neither is it a weapon or really on the level of your FH.

I work on the serve some but not a lot. I don't get a lot of free points from it though so your right about that. I can serve harder but I don't like to be 2nd serving a lot so I hit a solid consistent first serve and get the point started. I guess it is part of my high % style, but your right I have noticed that when I play better guys they get some free points off serve were I don't get many.
