Völkl C10 Pro Club!

Speaking of the pallets, is it possible to go down a grip size? I have a couple of 4 1/2 C10s I'd love to turn into 3/8.

Yes, the pallet attaches directly to the hairpin via double sided tape. All pallets will fit the hairpin. Good luck!

Wait,... don't switch too soon because you always can change the grip pallets. Völkl has pallets into different grip shapes available. See this link: http://gssalliance.com/boards/topic/volkl-pallet-system/
They are available at Tennis Warehouse Europe as well.

Well I tried to switch back to my Prince racquets because the grip felt better. After going back and forth while playing I came to the conclusion none of them played anywhere near as well as the C10 Pro. The more I use it the more used to the grip I get.

I won't be leaving the club. In fact, since I like the cosmetics so much and heard they might change, I bought another one. I have sold off two of my Prince racquets and now selling three more.

Well, I scored some brand new, unused, never strung, plastic still on the handle fish scales.....

I'll be stringing these up directly!
Rabbit- Great find! I picked up a used extended length "Fish Scale" because of all the raves about them. I was surprised to see they weighed in at 11.4ozs? I recently purchased the new Volkl- Super G10 and a used Organix 10 with white writing on the throat and they came in at 12.0 ozs. Great racquets!!! I have most iterations of the Head- Prestige Mp's but, love everything about the Volkl's!!! What are your thought's on the fish scale version? Which version do you favor? Thanks...........

Yeah, the C10X was lighter than the regular length. A friend of mine used it and loved it. At one time, Volkl also made an OS version. It was 110 sq in and 16X19. It produced awesome spin. It was the same weight as the extended frame.

I've been using the fish scales exclusively since I picked those up. To me, there is a tad more flex in them. But, I think my favorites to date may be the 2008 model which were all black. I'm fixing to switch back to them for the fall/winter and indoors. :)

Rabbit- Thanks for your fast reply!!! Do you happen to have a photo of the 2008 model? Tried to locate one on the internet to no avail? So many paint jobs. Thanks.....

The ones on the right are the 2008 model. Basically it's the bumblebee reversed.

I got them out and played with them this weekend. I'll have to say that I was wrong, I much prefer the feel of the fish scale model. It seems to have more flex overall.

Same findings here - my fishscale and bumblebee C10's have just a little more of the plushness going on, but they also have more mileage on them compared with my newer versions. I have one from the '08 generation and two of the current "yellow tops".

I should also point out that a couple of my older C10's are a bit more hefty than my newer trio. The extra stability along with the C10's trademark cushy ride give me a boatload of arm-friendliness, but also a little more racquet than I want for quick handling in a nasty doubles setting.

One of my old bumblebees is cracked and finally starting to deform, so I'm in the middle of taking off its grip pallets to swap onto my '08 frame, which has a smaller grip than my favorite 4 5/8". Hoping to trade the grips instead of relying on a shrink wrap to build it up, but we'll see.

Do you need 4 5/8 pallets? I have some you are welcome to. You can email me your address and I'll get some out to you.

I think plush describes the fish scale to a tee. While yours may have some age on them, trust me, that's not all there is to the feel. I bought 2 brand new, still in plastic fish scales off **** and they are like that brand new.

I hate using shrink wraps as well. They never feel right and they dampen ( to me) the edges to where I have trouble adjusting my hand to find the right edge to change to. I use 5/8" grip size too. Finding the 5/8" pallets is not easy to do. I wish I had picked up a couple more 5/8" pallet sets when they were more readily available. I use the C10 Pro Tour version. I have tried hundreds ( yes I really have over the many years I have been using the C10 PT's) and nothing feels or plays like they do. Maybe I should retry the standard C10 Pro again. I just thought , for me, the C10 Pro Tour had better control, court depth, and net feel when I compared them side by side for a while. I also did have the C10 Pro OS for a while. Even though it had a lot bigger head it still played really nice and was great for social doubles.

Hello,
Can you help me, what year is bumblebee model, 4 racquets you have on the left this picture?

I may have finally crossed the Rubicon skill wise. Tonight I used my C10 Pro 2012 at the lessons I take weekly at the small D1 university near where I live, hitting against the coach and one of the former players working on a Masters. I've tried to use it in the past but for some reason it wasn't working for me. I strung it at 57lbs with Technifibre XR3 17G. Not as much spin as Kevlar x Zyex or my poly x poly hybrid, but felt just as controllable as when I hit with this setup the other day against one of my hitting buddies. I'm going to hang up my SG and Organix V1 Pros as well as 2 of my 3 V1 MP's. I need the V1 MP to hit with beginners, older 3.0 players and the like. I hope the POG 107 I ordered doesn't eclipse the C10 Pro as a "big boys' "old school" racquet.

C10 feels considerably more maneuverable to me than the POG 107. POG does have a bigger sweetspot and more power ... if you can get it moving.

My C10 Pro is about 9pts HL at 12.6oz. I used a partial shrink wrap on the bottom half of the handle to get the size up to L4. Feels fine that way.

Is there a reason you did that rather than just replacing the pallet/butt cap with the desired size?

I intend to replace the pallet and buttcap at some time as I found that "dit" will sell me the pallets for several of my 4&3/8/L3 Volkls. I just have to call to order.

Cool, nothing wrong with what you did,I was just curious.

EDIT: Hey, I know there was some discussion around new paint for the C10. Is that new paint the same pattern only in matte black? Sorry if this has been covered.

Maybe I need to unsling the Organix 10 Mid that is hanging in the closet. I never did "cotton up" to that racket but never felt the urge to let it go. Maybe polarize it a bit.

Is there a new C10 Pro out? I thought I saw some matte paint C10 Pros for sale that were 159.99 on TW along with the shiny 2012's. Now I only see the 2012's at 129.99. Is there something even newer coming out? Was just wondering - no complaints about my 2012s.

Argh! Picked up a new '15 matte this week. I think I'll look for a 2008 mostly black one and be done.

r u leaving the club, Gee?
I am sorry to say that I indeed am leaving the C10 Pro club as I rediscovered and switched to my old Vantage 95 that I purchased in 2010. Lately I bought an Angell TC95 as well that is identical to my Vantage.
So now my C10s are looking for an other good home.

Hello all, I'm a recent Volkl convert. In the past few months, I bought a PB10 Mid, the 2012 version of the C10 Pro, and the Super G 10 325. I grew up playing with Wilsons and bought the Pro Staff 97 when it came out. Not entirely satisfied with it (combined with a bit of racquetholism), I demoed some Volkls and now I'm a believer. Many of your posts from this forum persuaded me to try them out. So thank you for the words of wisdom!

Question for those who have tried the two most recent versions of the C10 Pro (the 2012 version and the new 2015 matte version): Did you notice any significant difference in the flex/stiffness between the two?

The stiffness ratings that I'm finding online vary greatly. The TW product description pages for each show a rating of 63. However, the TWU Racquet Comparison Tool shows that 2012 has a rating of 65, whereas the new one has a rating of 63 (I know, not a big difference). But a competitor's website (who shall remain nameless) shows that the 2012 version has a rating of 65, and the new version a rating of 60. The difference between 60 and 65 is nothing to sneeze at.

I know that ratings can only tell us so much, so I'd like to ask those who have tried both the 2012 version and the new matte version: Did you notice any difference in the flex/stiffness?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Watching for replies to your question. I have both and unfortunately, I cannot tell :) Maybe that answers your question. I have old poly in one and new in the other and only difference was having to hit harder bc of unsettled tensions.

I'm no authority, but I've been using several different C10's for several years. My collection includes one of the original "fish-scale" models, a few of the next generation (yellow with black lettering/non-fish-scale), one of the mostly black '08's, and two of the more recent black with yellow on the hoop variety. I haven't heard anything about the build of these frames being tweaked recently, but there seems to be a consensus that the '08 and newer C10's seem to play with just a little more backbone or firmness than the original yellow with black generations.

Since the "C" in C10 stands for "Classic", I doubt that the folks at Volkl are in a hurry to mess with this recipe. I've also seen different flex ratings listed on different sites for the same racquet. It may be the case that some just offer the rating put out by the company, while others do their own testing. I'm convinced that even though this racquet is often rated at a 63 flex, it's effectively more arm-friendly for me than other frames having even lower flex ratings because of the C10's "hoop flex".

hey blip, yes, that probably does answer the question! I have a good amount of TW gift card money, so I might use it to buy the new matte version. If I do, I'll report back about differences (if any) between the two versions.

You betcha. I have had dalliances, but now feel like I'm back to stay....just over a year back, probably 17 years all together with what I think is the perfect racquet for me. :)

Just joined the C10 club. I love the racket coming off from the PS BLX 90. The C10 pro is very string sensitive.

String sensitive, indeed. I don't even think I've ever fully sorted out what's best for me in my C10's, but I also have several of these from different generations. Some of the older ones are a bit different than the newer ones - some of the oldies are softer and heavier.

If you conduct some experiments, keep us posted. I've been doing okay with snug syn. gut - lately using 16 ga. at 57 or 58 lbs. Might sample some other setups though - thinking of trying some 17 ga. syn. gut mains with a poly cross at rather low tension, just because I'm curious to do some sort of comparison.

My current set up I like. I have prince premier touch 16G mains @ 50lbs and Prince XT 18G crosses @ 47lbs. It produces a medium power with medium spin. It goes great with my game play.

My previous set up, I hated, but it let me know how string sensitive the racket is. I had the Prince XT 18G @ 55lbs and Premier Touch @ 57lbs. This set up cause the ball to come off my racket very flat. It was hard to keep the ball in.

After falling in love with the PB10 Mid recently, I'm giving these a whirl. One fishscale and one bumblebee. I'm using my PSC 6.1s less and less these days.

I've actually gone back to Timo albeit 10 pounds looser than way back. 45 now. I'm going to hybrid it next.

Was literally thinking earlier today about what you may be currently using, thanks. I was having a slug with one of my kids and the C10's were not behaving, but one of my O10's had some fresh 'n firm 16 ga. Forten Nylon and it was a lot easier keeping things under control with that rig.

Even though the strings in my C10's are a little used up and need to be replaced, I need to go ahead with some hybrid samplings now that it's hotter outside. Fortunately I'll be minding the shop tomorrow and I'll have time to get some stringing done. Should have an update in a few days. Might also try a bed of 15L nylon or syn. gut just to do a sort of Pepsi Challenge - it's that time of the year...
