Snow started here in Richmond ~10:30am. Only about 2-3 inches so far.
I was supposed to play in a doubles tournament down there this weekend (ACAC in Midlothian). Kinda bummed they cancelled it, but I understand why. Even so, I was willing to drive down from NoVa to play if they held it, although I'm guessing the McBail rate would have been real high...

i hate the long cold winters... but the occasionally blizzard spices things up nicely. watch The Shining. Drink heavily. Get some serious shoveling exercise, watch Sapient backhand video, watch McLovin backhand video, ask for the freekin RDS001MP photos for the 100th time, yell at your kids a few times, eat a entire bag of cool ranch doritos. ya know... just the normal stuff

Saw that. Was it a Member/Guest? ACAC has a ton of great players, both men and women.

As for us, I'm on the northside of town...at Saturday @ 7pm, I have ~18" inches on my deck (no wind/drift). And it's STILL snowing.

Hope ya'll aren't similarly getting pounded up in DC. We're small fry down here, don't think school will happen for a week or so. No worries for me/us. I'm still that Stay-at-Home Mommy. :p

No, it was a USTA tournament. Good draw for the men's open (16 teams entered), and I knew a few of the players.

As far as the snow...I'm in the western section of NoVa, and we're getting pounded. Damn close to 3ft, and its still snowing. No doubt my daughter won't be going to school until Thursday at the earliest, most likely they'll have the week off. Maybe I'll take a vacation day & hit the slopes w/ her.

Out here in Funchester id say we're close to 3 feet.

But the australian open and adult beverages warm the cockels.

So strung my own racquet for the first time. Screwed up the first and last cross. Do I just play it or cut it out?
Define 'screwed up'. Did you mis-weave? Or did you use the wrong holes?

If the former, then go ahead & play w/ it. First & last crosses shouldn't really affect playability, and its not as if someone is going to call you on an illegal string job.

If the latter, cut it out. You don't want to risk ruining the grommets, or worse, ruining the frame.

Just a mis-weave. Feel like an idiot looking at my error though lol. Knots look good though.

just play with it, it won't make much of a difference...if you mess up the frame, just get more of them! problem solved...

Snowblowed about 2 hrs saturday night. Manly the end of the driveway so I wouldnt have a 5 foot pile to clear out. Took me about another 5 hours Sunday to clear it all out. Even blowing out Satuday night in some spots I still had to knock the snow with a shovel becuase it was up over my blower. Had some snow drifts well over 4feet. mainly right in front of breezeway door and garage. Next time I am going to try to put up a piece of plywood in hopes of blocking the wind from swirling and dumping everyhting right in front of my breezeway door. Which is my main entrance.

Had Jeep almost get stuck outside my house. After about 45 minutes of back and forth they finally turned around and left.
Then a big Dodge pickup came and was doing the same thing except that guy did get stuck. I went out to try to help him a little but he had the back tired buried off the side of the road. I thought the back of truck was piled with snow giving him enough weight then he flipped the tailgate and reached and pulled out the littlest snowblower I have ever see in my life. I wanted to ask the guy WTF are doing with that tiny thing in 3 feet of snow. And second Why TF did you not have weight in the back of a 4 wheel drive pickup truck. And second WTF are you doing trying to drive in this crap?

Turned out he lived in the neghborhood sorta right behind me. Have no idea where he was going. But he wasn't going to be able to shovel anyone out with that cinchy freakin blower.
Local farmer came over Sunday with a skid loader and pulled him out. Sounds like he jacked his power steering though.

Dang it... i need a gofundme account for racquets.
my forehand is about as good as its gonna get with APD.
backhand is serviceable... no problems.
volleys feel gross but i can usually just deaden the ball or crush it.. but i dont enjoy it.
serves were ok with 18g poly (but not able to hit out on FH as much) string but with RPM 16 or BBO i was trying real hard but hit the net so much more and had way less aces than usual.

in the last minute of play i switch back to Blade and my FH is all over the place but i immediately smack 2 aces down the T like nothin.

I need even balance on FH and 7PTS HL on serve. WUT DO I DO?
maybe I just need a more lively 16g poly, string lower, or a hybrid?
I need the APD and Blade to make babies.... DR98? dunno.... DAAAAAAAANGGGIT!
racquetfinder here i come!
Anybody want 2 APD 9.9/10 and a 12 pack Pure Aero Bag? sigh.
the wife is gonna be sooo pizzed. I guess I have the winter to figure it out.
meanwhile... some old dude (at least 4.5 though) was playing like Federer with an O3 white with NXT at 60lbs. I just want a racquet string combo that works for me. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR????? CMON ZAPVOR! make an APP that tells you what equipment is right for your game... $$$$$

I totally need this.. although I would probably like a quiver of racquets to pull out of a backpack depending on the shot.
I just switched so I guess I've got to give it more time and try a few more strings/tensions.
Cuz the forehand is exactly what i want.. i feel like Ferrer being aggressive and attacking the ball and the more aggressive I am the better the shot! VAMOS!
But I double faulted a couple times in doubles and had some old lady partner turn around and say... Can You Just Get the Ball In?????
So embarrassing! I think I told her she better not miss a single shot if she was gonna coach me.. and a few other choice words which straightened her out good and then I hit a couple sweet shots to shut her up.
Last time that happened was with the Vcore89 and I immediately sold them when I got home. So now I am doubting the APDs.

Downs... send me a DR98.. stat! maybe 1/4 grip too. thanks

Describe the double faults. Are they at the bottom of the net.. no spin.. overshooting the service box?

Most of the 1st serves were hitting the tape. So maybe not off by much? 2nd serves were in the middle of the net sometimes and then when i tried to adjust they went long. I think it is just a tension issue. (never technique.. .lol!) BBO never gave me a lack of power until today. BBO was strung at 56 and RPM was at 55 and RPM played slightly better. I could drop it down a few more lbs I guess.. especially when playing at the Arctic Circle.
I guess those should be my summertime tensions and winter could be 52lbs? or 17g? dang it. brain hurts
