in returning game. Like at break chances. That is supposed to be what he has been working on since 2009 or so with coaches from Daren Kahill, Paul Annaconne, to now Edberg.

In today's match he can't be aggressive. Too much wind.

Federer gave away the break by going for a shot off a loopy ball that wasn't so fast paced and his early break points were lost off two unforced errors that weren't produced off particularly pacey Monfils responses....

Maybe he handles the pace of big hitters worse than he used to but it seems odd to be blaming the current result on that right now. Monfils has played better and Federer's errors in moments where he had chances were to do with his own execution off makable balls.

Yeah probably. Monfils made a few lucky shots that 1 game and Fed missed a sitter on his break chance. He could've easily won the first set 6-4.

But he is playing terrible. Probably having flashbacks of Nadal's 2005 retrieving capabilities.
