Last year, Almagro lost in the 1st round of RG and finished the season ranked 71. He also withdrew from Monte Carlo with a foot injury, but he was still good enough to beat Nadal in Barcelona.

Can he do it again?

Why y'all hating on BrandyTT?

Almagro is hopeless these days but at least I will get a lot of footage of him hitting nice high one handed backhands to add to my video collection.

Man, Federer with Almagro's topspin backhand... That combination would beat Nadal on clay more often than not.

No.
Nadal already rectified Ferrer at Monte Carlo (last year Ferrer beat Nadal in straight sets).
And now Nadal will rectify Almagro at Barcelona.
Nadal was far more error-prone last year.

If Ferrer and Nadal meet in the SF here it will be an absolute dream come true for Nadal, because Ferrer is his likely semi-final or final opponent at Roland Garros, and to play him twice already this clay season would be perfect preparation.

All of Almagro's fighting skills are on display today, but Nadal still won the first set 6-3.
This match is a higher quality than the Nadjokovic Monte Carlo semi-final.

When I look at Nadal now, for the first time in months he doesn't look despondent at all. He looks "locked in", ready to really improve his level and maybe win some trophies.

Ferrer and Nadal might meet as early as the Quarter Finals.

The change in attitude and, to a degree, form, is promising. Providing he stays healthy, there is no reason why he can't go from strength to strength.

It's obvious Almagro has the game to compete with Nadal, but this many unforced errors, it's just ridiculous.

These forehands down the line, it's like his out to practice the shot.

This could be the shortest match thread for any Top 4 player :D

Nadal playing decent, Almagro not good enough today
