djokovic and nadal are playing and
only wawrinka , monfils , tsonga , fognini is out
Or maybe wait until they've stepped on court and have finished their warm up.I'd wait until the actual player publicly announces their intention to play, but it's clear that the event will go on.

We can already give the trophy to Rafa, since Novak has contracted Covid, and thus soon his lungs will collapse, his heart explode and his penis shrivel to almost nothing.

But what about people who were asymptomatic? They have long-term issues too?It has indeed been found that people who have recovered now have heart issues, so it's no laughing matter. It's a reality for some.
So nothing will be missed? Jk, super hyped.

New symptom?
He didn't say everyone will suffer long term effects. But what about people who were asymptomatic? They have long-term issues too?
Djokovic and Coric didn't have to recover from anything, because they never had symptoms.
This is a mandatory tournament so the list is mainly of players who qualify to play it doesn't mean that they have actively said they would play. Of course, both Nadal and Djokovic are exempt from any penalties for not playing mandatory tournaments now

While I agree w/ your sentiment, the Cincinnati Masters is being held at Flushing Meadows this year:Ohio had 1,320 new cases yesterday and 38 deaths.
But yeah, go ahead and have these tournament and risk lives. Insanity.

The Western & Southern Open is continuing to plan for the 2020 Tournament at the USTA's Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. Additional details surrounding the event have been revealed in advance of the joint ATP Tour and WTA event that is scheduled to begin in five weeks. The one-time staging of the tournament in New York is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the Western & Southern Open, which features an ATP Masters 1000 and a WTA Premier 5, will take place Aug. 20-28, and is scheduled to be completed just before the US Open is held Aug. 31-Sept. 13 at the same venue.
Ah ok that's a bit better but I just see so many things going wrong, so risky, so unnecessary. It will be held in NY
Indeed. Last "symptom" is lesser male fertility. Nothing to do with long term trend of declining fertility in last 30 years.New symptom?

Burkina Faso and Yemen.... not the United States. Like come on.
Also, I still laugh when people say it’s here to stay and we need to live with it. Some nations are near eradication like New Zealand. Just because the third world country that is the United States is so badly handling this doesn’t mean we must embrace a Covid world and sign a death warrant to all our elderly and vulnerable.
Prize money got significantly smaller ...

Do you think Djokodal care about this anyone. They would play for free if they won a slam.I can't see too many top players coming when they see this just recently published announcement.
Not sure it's good news.Looks like he will play USO!!!!!
Hectic weeks ahead!!
Seeing slams being played with the defending champ and favorite in my opinion is good news. Not sure it's good news.

They would probably even pay for it if they got the chance.
Dont think Rafa will play the US Open, let alone Cincy. These lists are just a formality, we've seen Rafa make decisions to withdraw even after the draw was announced so this doesnt really mean anything. I dont expect him to play in the USA tbh.

Why do you think Rafa won't play? Do you honestly think he is scared he might get c19? You really think they will be made to quarantine when they get to Europe?I'm inclined to that conclusion too.
Agreed. Given how Dimitrov is saying how it has affected him, and seeing how many NFL players are choosing to sit out the 20-21 season, I think he'll err on the side of caution and not risk whatever remaining years he has on the tour.Dont think Rafa will play the US Open, let alone Cincy. Don't want to get into an argument about the finer points of the virus, except to say that it is still a huge unknown what any lingering affects might be. There may not be any past 6 months, there may be effects for years after. Bottom line is, we don't know. And if you're Rafa, on the verge of overtaking arguably the greatest player ever in the Major count category, why would you risk it?I don't see why he would not play, especially when it is clear everyone else is?
Yes, but he is playing the FO and other tourneys so I don't see how the USO would be any more of a risk. FO is even allowing some fans.Agreed. Have any of these players committed yet???It's only an acceptance list
Basically yeah, the reasons you mentioned. Dont think he'll take the risk. Also he's only been practicing on clay recently. Why do you think Rafa won't play? Do you honestly think he is scared he might get c19? You really think they will be made to quarantine when they get to Europe?

NYSo is Cincy still happening at NYC or is it moving back to it's original location? Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?
It's still TBD if he'll play the French, and he has almost 2 months before he has to make a decision, and for the most part, Europe has a handle on it. Right now, though, the US numbers are all over the place. Some states are trending up, some down. And some that were trending down a few weeks ago, are now trending up again. So who knows where NYC will be by September? Especially if schools & universities choose to open 'in person'?Yes, but he is playing the FO and other tourneys so I don't see how the USO would be any more of a risk. FO is even allowing some fans.
