~Adidas Barricade 5 Review~

Wore through them completely (you can see my sock) so I thought I'd write a review to help those who are considering them.
Got the black/silver colorway as seen below. 1/2 size larger than I normally get so this probably affected some areas.

Scores out of 10, 10 being GODLY (must be absolutely amazing to score 10)

Fit/Design: 9.5/10
Fit was true to length and width was medium (accounting for the 1/2 size larger). Toebox size was kind of on the spacious side but that's probably because of the 1/2 size larger; wasn't too big, just abit roomy. Arch support is medium.
Very well built shoe. Best I've seen so far. Other than the bottom of the shoe and other areas on the bottom medial (inside) sideof the shoe , no other area was worn out/torn/frayed. Shoelace eyelets are all reinforced. Impressive build

Durability: 7

In this catagory, 10= outsole worn out to the midsole at 5 months and replace the shoe at 5.5
Purchased July 22 so they lasted about 3.5 months. They outsole first wore through at around 3 months and took about 2 weeks to wear all the way through both outsole and midsole. The shoe under-performed in this area, I thought they would last longer. I play alot though so it isn't that surprising but still dissappointing as my Vapor 5s (no warranty, and not meant to be a durable shoe) lasted about this long as well. I play 2-3 hours 3 days a week, and 3-4 hours 2 or 3 days week. BTW I am a heavy toe dragger.

Ventilation: 9/10
Nothing to complain here. Lots of mesh at the top/tongue, medial (inside) side, and around the heal. Plus the perforations on the lateral side, this shoe breathes pretty well

Traction: 8.5
I play exclusively on hardcourt
The Barricade V's offer a good amount of traction but nothing amazing. It just doesn't have that nice feelon the court where you could really feel shoe gripping the court. Still, not slipping or sliding on the court except when the treading has worn down alot but that's expectable.

Cushioning: 8.5
Not the cushiest shoes but they offer a pretty good amount of comfort. There isn't much softness to the shoe (it is firm) but this didn't cause me any pain until the toward the end of long practices.

Stability: 8.5
Pretty good stability. Didn't feel rock solid but there was no worry of rolling ankles or anything. I was kind of expecting it to be very stable considering the Barricade line has always been known for being very stable shoes but the Vs still were pretty good in this area

All in all, a pretty good shoe. It's got the 6 month warranty so if you wear out shoes fast like me, atleast you get a free pair. I don't really want mine though so if you're interested, email me.
If you are looking for a pretty good practice shoe that you can also wear for matches, the BVs are a solid choice. But if you can tolerate slightly more narrow shoes with slightly lower arch support, I would suggest the Nike Cage 2s as they were overall better shoes that last longer.

Next up: Adidas Geniuses. In fact I'm wearing a pair right now and will be walking around on carpet so I'll be writing up my initial impressions later.

Thanks for reading

Thanks for the review, mane. I got my pair (for the first time cuz I've always used Nike) and it took me a while to break them in...they felt really really stiff. I tried on my friend's pair and his were so much more comfortable than mine strangely. After playing in them for over 50 hours now they are beginning to feel a lot better, but I personally think the Barricade V's need more cushioning as long matches can make my feet pretty sore.

What shoe would you consider a 10/10 for durability?

Yeah, that was my only problem with the review. I think it is a 9 or 10. Actually, in my experience the Barricade IV was the most durable shoe I ever owned so I *might* knock the B-V (and B-III) down to a 9.

I have yet to find a shoe that would score 10/10 in durability. The Nike Cage 2 however comes close at 9.5.

This review is my take on the shoe. You might find that they are more durable but for me, the outsole wear doesn't lie. Maybe we play different amounts and styles of tennis. I should probably have included that in my review
