AELTC Head of Courts and Horticulture: "Conditions are the same as last year's and years prior"

Has he played on the courts again other ATP players?
Total idiocy: "the players just don't remember the conditions the year before." And this old dude has an agenda anyway, he's "head of the courts," so it behooves him to lie and fool people who have no clue about tennis or surface speeds. The vast majority of people have no frame of reference with grass courts and thus no memory of how the grass played 7 years ago, never mind 17 or 27 years ago.

Nope.

This makes it official. Wimbledon is deliberately choosing to refuse to acknowledge the fact that the courts are getting slower and slower. That eradicates any idea that Wimbledon might not have known what is going on (as was Henman's previous position).

I quite liked his attempts at explanations why would the players think that. It shows that he is a complete hack when it comes to tennis.

Well, that's probably the last explanation we'll hear from Wimbledon officials on the matter.

This Bozo obviously has never heard the adage: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." When every single player (except Nadal) says the "courts are slow," maybe they know more about it than the "head courts manager."

It's a bit slower than in 2018 and almost the same compared to 2017. Definitely slower than in 2010 and 2008.
Perhaps the balls? Change them.

There's nothing to discuss this should put all debate about the courts to rest. Now if people want to talk about other factors that go into how a court plays like the ball then we can have a good discussion. Both Fed and Rafa have surmised that the ball is different this year. Heavier ball equals slower play.

We need those Wilson USO balls that skid fast through the court.

The courts probably are the same. I'm convinced. What he is not saying anything about is the balls which I have said numerous times is probably the difference.

Officals dont lie like Politicians dont lie.
The lies have to be believable though. It's borderline absurd when you keep the same stance, when it's quite obvious to anyone who's watched these matches that the conditions are decidedly not the same

except that on Wimbledon page it is written that last change to ball specification was done in 1995, which implies that same balls are used since then

We'll find out the truth in the Fedal match. If Nadal wins, we know the grass is still fast. If he loses, the grass court has to be the slowest it has been to favour the slow grass court GOAT.

Those guys lie all the time you realize that OP? USO officials have been claiming the courts haven't slowed down every year since 2005. The USO 2018 court was still the same as the one where Fed double bagelled Hewitt on! They say so! It's true!
lol
Wimbledon completely open what they do to the grass. Which length and also what kind of grass. It’s no secrecy or magic. It’s freakin grass!!
You can even go north England and see for yourself how they test the grass and what they do. If you ask nicely. Which i dont think you are capapable of.
If you bother going to Wimbledon and you are able to form a few sentences you can quite easily find people working w the grass at AELTC.
I’ve spoken a whole evening w these folks and it’s super interesting what they do and all the work it takes. The changes and why they did so in the past is neither no secret.

This guy CANNOT BE SERIOUS! What Wimbledon has become over the last 20 years is a total dis-grass.

In all pro sports it's more about politics, money and personal interests than ever, sad.

Both men's and woman's tours are now a joke. Serena will soon get a 41st Grand Slam, Rodgeur will still win Wimbledon at 62 and Rafa will win his 15th Roland-Garros playing right-hander… Seems that (almost) everyone only cares about figures and records these days so I guess fans will enjoy and call them GOATs.

When players like Goffin, Pella or Nishikori reach the latter stages of Wimbledon and Nadal wins 2 sets 6-2, 6--2 against a big server like Querrey (and doing this by playing clay court like tennis), you know that something is wrong :)

Fraud can straight set and triple bagel Ralph and Novak and I will keep saying this was the slowest I personally have seen the grass play in over a decade of my watching.

Except, the truth has been out long before such a match was even made possible. Bad trolling on your part.

Yay another liar. Can we sue him ?

This is how it has always been. The grass is worn out in the first few days. The first week is all about surviving and the second week is for real tennis as some of the past greats (was probably Borg) used to say.

Anyway, it's grass and Wimbledon. Anyone who wins is a Wimbledon champion. The conditions are the same for everyone here. If anyone is not good enough to play on this court, they don't deserve to win it.

The most important part of the post is the admission that the surface is "much slower" than previous years, which has been a major discussion point.

If should try to avoid mental walks when posting, no?

Wimbledon 2019
Rafael Nadal vs Sam Querry
7-5 6-2 6-2
Aces:
Nadal 10
Querry 22

Let's compare.
Madrid, 18 games played, 10 aces, 0.55 aces / game
Wimbledon, 28 games played, 32 aces, 1.14 aces / game

sure, there is no difference, pretty much both surfaces play the same, just a different color:cool:
