Alcaraz and Sinner were absent: Kindly reminder

To be fair neither have done anything of note this fall season, it’s a legit win

They will deliver Novak his much-awaited spankings in Slams soon enough.

Sinner would have been mercilessly wrecked. He’s a 1D ball basher. A Rublev elite at best. He is extremely overrated on these boards. Rune on the other hand.. now that guy’s a real beast in the making.

Sinner wasn't absent, he didn't qualify.

Alcaraz was, but I don´t see him beating Djokovic indoors.
I don't see him beating Djokovic anywhere at a Slam. A Best of 3 match on clay in his home country against a rusty Djokovic was already quite the only chance I guess.

40th in return%games won for the season
It’s more potential and flashes at this point but there’s not a player on the planet who could’ve done what he did to Djokovic at Wimbledon for the first two sets

Plus the massive RPMs and speeds off both wings, it’s easy to fall in love with the potential. The whole “complete tennis player” part seems quite foreign to him as does the serve but still.

I just watched most of the Alcaraz-Sinner USO match again. I agree with you about Sinner being insanely overrated here. Guy's a massive choker and that usually doesn't change as a player matures (Lendl and Agassi would be two exceptions). Of the players under 25, the only two who aren't chokers are Alcaraz and Rune. They will eventually rise to the top of the game, not chokemeisters like Tsitsipas, Zedrot, Sinner, etc. Med also has choked massively against Nadal in two huge matches.

Just imagine Sinner trying to serve out the Paris final against Novak and saving three BP's in the process. Rune did that a few weeks ago at age 19. Sinner could only dream of such mental fortitude.

Med ended Djokovic CYGS attempt.
He will always be that footnote.

Not sure why this matters for Djokovic lol. If someone like a prime or prime-ish Fed was missing then you'd have a point, but Sinner and Alcaraz (out of form)? Come on...

Sinner couldn't even beat a tanking Medvedev in a dead rubber match last year in Turin. I doubt he would have caused much troubles this year, with his broken ankle.
