Alcaraz New Custom Shoes

Also I don’t buy the notion he’s just using these for clay. They could have easily slapped a clay outsole on that monstrosity they concocted for him
Yes, that is actually so sad that they are not able to get him. If they just ask if he is willing to switch and he says no, just make a small change instead of making a whole different line.

It’s Deja vu. I feel like this sort of conversation was discussed during the Vapor Speed days.

I’m guessing though, for his training, he probably has left over clay VP1s, which he’ll keep using until the new clay season custom shoes come. It’s just like Rafa using 2 year old Cage 3 colors during his training

Alcaraz would burn through the outsole in those vapor lite 2 sneakers in 45 minutes and with his toe-dragging and aggressive movement the toebox would look like it has been fed through a paper shredder.
then what's he doing with that one on in that picture ?? he must be trying it in practice... maybe he will love the Stability and lite and energy return ?? all he has to do is bring like 5 pairs of shoes each match,, he's all good to go

He’s on set of a photoshoot… the guy with headphones is a dead giveaway

wait what, vapor lite 2 for Alcarez? maybe there having him try the whole line up to see what he likes the best from all of the different options for a personalized custom shoe that will be branded to him like the Rafa shoes.

It was a PHOTOSHOOT, he was literally practicing with VP1 custom 2 days ago!!

Does anyone have more info on Alcaraz's socks? They look to have additional padding around the ankle and Achilles. I've seen other Nike-sponsored athletes wear similar pairs but can't find anything like them on the Nike website.

Nike Unicorn Crew is what it’s called. A pair comes to you at $24 on Nike website. Honestly surprised you couldn’t find them

Kinda wild man - feels like socks have got worse and worse over the years. My Nike multipliers shrink like crazy and don’t hold up at all. Total shame. Are you using an cotton poly blends or just cotton?

I bought Multipliers to try and they were garbage for me because they slip around on top of my custom orthotics. I ended up giving them to my kids and they only use them for casual, not for tennis.

I am still using 1st and 2nd gen Nike Elite Crews. They are a thicker blend (61% polyester/20% nylon/17% cotton/2% spandex) and don't slip around within my shoes.

It’s funny you mention old elites

I have a bunch of elites from 2010-2015 range that are more durable/cushioned than the multipliers after a few months. Multipliers are thin, slippery, and cheap feeling. I weirdly find the white ones to be better than black, but still underwhelming from a performance perspective

Underlying question is, how are my 10 year old socks more durable than 10 month old socks ? Makes no sense

To add on: I have nothing against pros using custom frames, shoes, gear etc. that aren't available to the public. It's "next-level" deception, though, to make a shoe look like another ha. I guess it's fooling some people, but enough people are aware that it makes Nike look bad. I guess you could say the same about Federer's vapors with the carbon plate, though, so it's not completely novel. I used to buy a lot of Nike stuff, but outside of the Vapor 9.5s, I don't really have an interest in their tennis products anymore.

Kudos to Nike though..eh?
Instead of spending R/D money on making shoes we want, they spend it on making custom player-only shoes look more like the Garbage they're selling.

Bravo, they really do look alot like the Vapor 11. Obviously the outsole and medial side "prongs" are a giveaway but at a quick glance they're spot on.
