I have watched that replay many many times and no I don’t believe that ball was hit in anger look at Novak’s face there is no anger in his face he just hits the ball carelessly at the end of the game and it could have gone anywhere. It was very unfortunate but not hit in anger.

Exactly! Also everyone has seemingly forgotten Shapovalov's incident hitting the ball away in anger. Compare the two and you'll see Novak was hard done by.

So i was reading into the code of conduct rules in place and this means he's on a tight leash as he cannot verbally abuse anyone. He's obviously not going to attack anyone else in the same way but there is no way in hell he will survive the year without verbally abuse someone over a bad decision and when that day comes will the ATP follow through on this warning? I HIGHLY doubt it.

You don't mean he has to...

ATP heard Serena loud and clear is all.

I said it to another post of this. funny how the ATP and WTA launched a massive NO BULLYING campaign when people where writing mean tweets to the players, promoting a zero tolerance stance, but refs and umps it is more of a, "let us make a token fine gesture but not REALLY make it zero tolerance.

Mean tweets - Ban from social media platform
Physical and verbal threats by players - Be good, throw us some coin, and we will continue to use you to make money on tour.

Why to make a tread mentioning British pounds? At least try with USD or Eur, because the British pound is only used in 1 country.

When you're at the top of the game you can pretty much get away with anything.

But hey, if you're Rilley O'Pelka and you wear a hat during the trophy ceremony, they'll fine you for that.

Fines mean nothing to the top 5 guys, so his punishment was basically nothing. Just has to be a good boy for awhile.

8 weeks at this time of year is not small, it’s a huge thing. This likely puts him out until May, so he’ll for sure miss IW and Miami along with much of the clay
The could have just imposed a four week suspension if 8 weeks seemed too punitive. They should have just said they are putting him on probation, which is effectively what they’ve done. This 8-week suspended ban gives bad optics and insults the intelligence of the ppl paying attention to this.

How is this remotely the same thing. Is the net a living, breathing thing? Zverev aimed at the umpire's legs in a brutal manner and it's down to the umpire's reflexes that he didn't get hurt. Stop with these ridiculous false equivalences. Novak's on-court behaviour is never the best, but he's way better than Zverev. I haven't seen him "intentionally" assault an umpire / officials in this manner. However I will criticise Novak for normalising such horrendous behaviour on the pretext of "made a mistake". Yes, we all make mistakes. But when your "intentional" mistake comes at the cost of potentially injuring/intimidating an official, there needs to be consequences for this kind of behaviour. The ATP keeps letting him get away with anything. What a pathetic sham.

The ATP continues to send a loud message that they enable & support any and all of Zverev's violent behavior. Its good that they do, as they will be torpedoed (deservedly so) on a sociopolitical scale when he takes his violence to another level. They will never be able to create excuses for the organization which was well aware of Zverev's despicable acts.
