Anyone gets pedicures here?

Hi,
I used to get pedicures every 2 weeks because I was in love with my feet, but during the summer when I'm playing a lot of tennis, for some reason, my toenails turn blackish and sometimes I get blisters 4-5 days after I get the pedicures done. I wish I had more money to get pedicures weekly but $20 per visit adds up, you know?

What do you do to keep your toenails clean?

I confess to having a whole range of thoughts on this post...

First off, my pedicures cost a minimum of $45 - where the heck are you getting pedicures for $20?

Secondly, you probably get blisters because with all of those pedicures your feet never get to form callouses. I'm vain enough to try to minimize callouses, but if I didn't have a few I would expect to constantly have blisters.

Another thought - I would feel somehow cheated if my husband's feet looked nicer than mine. After all, I have strappy sandals to contend with...

I remember briefly dating a man who took longer to get ready for a date than me - he usually looked better than me too! Didn't last...

As far as maintenance goes, trim or file the toenails so that they don't jam into your shoes, scrub in between your toes and push back cuticles when you shower, and use a nail brush to scrub the crud from under the nails.

I also have lavender bath salts that are nice for a foot soak - I"m not sure what the manly version would be.

I think at this point he's well beyond worrying about that.

hey, thanks for the words of wisdom. I get my pedicures at a place called Tri Lu's in the Bay Area. I guess I get a good deal because I just go there to get my feet cleaned for sanitary purposes. I guess it costs more money to color your toes and stuff. Plus, I've visited there so many times that I was able to get a discount.

I'll try out your tips this week. Thanks again.

I would rather spend $25 on a pedicure, $15 on a manicure and $70 on a facial massage, than dropping $200 on a bar tab. Anything wrong with that?

I'm thinking it's not such a bad thing. My husband worries about the cat damaging the leather sofa with her claws, but I actually think he could do more damage with his gnarly toenails...

Shoes.

I used to get the black toe thing from skiing. The key there is I got boots custom fitted. The guy took a boot that was too small and sanded bits out till it fit as snug as possible. Your probably getting so many foot injuries for the same reason.. Try some different shoes.

Yeah, I lose the left nail in the winter from skiing, the right in the summer from tennis.

I just peel off the blackened toenails after they start peeling. A few primal screams, a little blood, and I'm good to go. :)

p.s.-I'm not kidding.

This reminded me of the scene from predator 2 where the predator was healing himself...

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but personally, my vote for the $200 would be for a two hour lesson then a one hour massage. But then again, thats just me.

And I have the ugly "tennis toe" also. Damn Barricade II's! Every 3 months I pull it off. Mostly, though, just my wife screams.

Yeah, I think so...for a guy, at least a straight guy. And spending $200 at a bar isn't the only option to doing all that either-how did you come up with that equation? I used to think your posts, like this one, were all jokes, but now I know better. You're serious. That's...sad.

Pedicure = $25.00
Minicure = $15.00
Facial = $70.00
------------------
Total = $110.00

Bar Tab: $200.00

No ****; do the math. You'd have $90.00 left over for, e.g., a blow-up doll

Do you know just "how much" blow-up doll you can get for $90.00 bucks? A no-brainer.
