Are we going to see #1, #2, #3, #4 seeds at semi's ?

That's not really exciting. We all know the story.
#3 and #4 never beat #1 and #1 just can't beat #2.
Wait, #1 is getting really close to beat #2. Get excited.

It's just as xciting/boring as sopa opera or day time TV shows.
Same old love triangle intertwined with double traingle
with just enough twist which makes boring housewives watch them...

How about a Nalbandian Ljubicic final eh? Any bets on that? I don't think this is a boring situation at all. we have all been waiting for the last 5 weeks, building up our enthusiasm and ever since Fed. gave us a little glimpse of hope in Italy, things look bright and exciting.

When that happened at Australian Open last year, it was the first time since '93 Wimbledon, that the top 4 made the semis of a slam.

I think the last time top 4 made the semis at the French was '85.

Some people watch tennis to see quality play. If its the best four players in the world shouldnt that mean the tennis is higher quality? Maybe you should look into the WWE where they have many plot twists.

How's Djokovic and ljubicic in quarters at the French together with Fed and Rafa and Nalby not exciting? What's it going to take for it to be exciting? Naked ball girls belly dancing on changeovers?

I was refering to semi's as the thread title suggests.
since #3 and 4 just can't take it to #1 and #2.
Where the hell did you get the idea that I'm not excited to have
Djokovic and Ljubicic ?

You are right, the top 4 seeds did make the SF at '95 W. But they weren't the top 4 players in the world(Goran was 6)
'93 W was the last time top 4 made semis. Then last year at Australia. And its likely to happen this week.

I think the last time top 4 made the semis at the French was '85.

Did some more research, top 4 did make the semis of '85 French. Also that was the last time the top 4 even made the QF at the French.

I dont understand why 1 is going to play 3??? Why is that?

per the Wimbledon seed thread from yesterday . . . 1 and 2 are in the upper and lower half of the draws, 3 and 4 are seeded randomly, one in each half.

I think #1, #2, #3 and #4 seeds in the semifinals would be quite unusual. When was the last time it happened? As for excitement, having the best players playing the SF of a GS is as exciting as it gets.

Read my posts in this thread.

Hasn't happened at French since '85(FYI that was also the last time the top 4 even made the quarters at the French!)

Top 4 made semis at last years' Australian, which was the last time it happened at any slam.

I love this tension between #1 and #2 but #3 and #4 have been
sort of irrelevant for a while. I don't like to see #3 and #4 cleaning up
any potential surprises and then hand it to #1 and #2.

But I think #2 might be upset by a very very young player, Djokovic.
Then it sort of becomes anti-climax,... unless Djokovic goes ahead
and win the whole thing...

oops sorry you're right... i believed you meant the seeds. ;)

btw, after the 2004 masters and the 2005 australian open, i thought we would see more often the roger-marat-lleyton-andy square than we did...

But you can never really count on Safin to be anywhere. He's either mentally killing himself or destroying everyone else.

Was '85. Connors, McEnroe, Wilander, Lendl. Don't think Federer, Nadal, Ljubicic, Nalbandian is as exciting a final four.
