Murray had surgery in 2019 and still not top 100 but he's nominates for comeback player somehow...
I mean that's on the players since they vote for that They obviously respect his berry berry good sportsmanship, no?The real farce is Rafa Nadal being nominated for Sportsmanship award despite playing like 5 tournaments and getting time violations in nearly every single one, LOL
"The Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship award is unique as it is voted by the ATP players themselves from the ones nominated by the ATP"I mean that's on the players since they vote for that They obviously respect his berry berry good sportsmanship, no?
lol, that's true. I suppose they're used to the 'Sportsmanship Award Encouragement' paypal coming in from a certain Swiss bank account annually. What difference does it make if the paypal comes in from a Spanish bank account now?I mean that's on the players since they vote for that They obviously respect his berry berry good sportsmanship, no?
They should have nominated Novak given he came back from a near-fatal abdominal laceration at the Australian Open.
Absolutely disgusting snub of Federer for the Sportsmanship award.
That only works if your opponent has already struck their serve. Cilic preempted Fed's cheating by complaining to the ump before he himself was even ready to serve. Genius. He wasn't ready for Cilic' quickest move between points ever... should have raised his racquet! Wait for me, no!?

What about Sock, Kokkinakis and McDonald?
How did McDonald make a "comeback" this year? He has never been that great to begin with. And barring the final in Washington, what has he done this year?
Sock besides his 1st set against Zverev in USO, he hasn't won anything this year.
And Kokkinakis? I vaguely remember the 5 sets against Tsitsipas in Melbourne but that's about it.
I like Frances Tiafoe a lot but the sportmanship award? That's odd.
And what differentiates Ruud and Auger-Aliassime from the rest of the field, I have no idea either.

I thought it was in his contract to be awarded that every year?
No, it's only every year he wins a Slam, right?
ATP having their strings pulled by these two depraved and wicked souls. Remember where they worked...ATP is cheating the voters.
Yeah, it was absurd. I guess Cilic needs his opponent in place and ready to return before he bounces the ball 27 times.Actually, that's one of the strangest warnings I've ever seen. It was super quick, and Federer was just about to get ready at 12-13 seconds
roflmaoWow, somebody got buried in here
Yeah, this is ridiculous. These guys are great sportsmen but the methodology here is "who's the first player that you can think of who doesn't break racquets?"The real farce is Rafa Nadal being nominated for Sportsmanship award despite playing like 5 tournaments and getting time violations in nearly every single one, LOL
roflmao
It is kinda sad. I'm pretty sure the PTPA has something to do with it.
"The Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship award is unique as it is voted by the ATP players themselves from the ones nominated by the ATP"
*yawn*
lol, better luck next time

... you don't like the good tennis? The real farce is Rafa Nadal being nominated for Sportsmanship award despite playing like 5 tournaments and getting time violations in nearly every single one, LOL
It would be helpful if you list every time violation Rafa has had this year in every match otherwise you cannot be taken seriously.
I have the receipts, queen. It would be helpful if you list every time violation Rafa has had this year in every match otherwise you cannot be taken seriously.

I guarantee he got one in the
-Tsitsipas AO match
- Sinner match @ Rome
- Schwartzman match @ Roland Garros (literally before the first point, I'm not even making that up, lol)
and tons of complaints of holding opposing servers up on return - see the quote from Opelka...
If referees warned him every single time he commits a time violation we could have a highlights reel of time violations for every tournament he participates. It would be helpful if you list every time violation Rafa has had this year in every match otherwise you cannot be taken seriously.
The bar is indeed set pretty low. As long as you’re not breaking racquets and screaming like a psychopath while representing your country on the world stage you’re likely to get nominatedNadal? Lol...
Well, if Messi could get one...
What amazes me is that Rafa bashers haven't noticed that tournaments started to use the shot clock already in 2018!If referees warned him every single time he commits a time violation we could have a highlights reel of time violations for every tournament he participates.
i wonder if Goffin votes for himI mean that's on the players since they vote for that They obviously respect his berry berry good sportsmanship, no?
All I know is that enough guys have voted for him to win it 4x total and 3x in a rowi wonder if Goffin votes for him
could be rigged hey???All I know is that enough guys have voted for him to win it 4x total and 3x in a row
And your tin foil hat could be a little too tight?could be rigged hey???
rules are made to broken no?And your tin foil hat could be a little too tight?
Djokovic doesn’t deserve it either at all, lol.ATP wouldn't even nominate Djokovic because they hate him since he came from nowhere and ruined the Rafa & Roger friendship and happines.
And because they know if they nominate him, players will pick him for Sportsman of the year as he always has nice words for his opponents no matter if he won or lost the match, with even going to their lockers and giving the encouraging words after the match (vs Shapo at Wimbledon SF, or to Matteo Berrettini at the finals of European Championship).
Sportsmanship is not only about breaking the racquets, it's much more.
FIFYrules are made to be broken, no?
