I hope Dolgo does well but he is likely to run into Almagro again in the QF, then Nalbandian (maybe Robredo) in the SF. A bit tougher than his Brasil draw.

nice that Dolgo and Igor successfully teamed up today, beating Andujar/Gimeno-Traver (finalists last week in Brazil) in three :)

So disappointed ... not a stream link in sight ATM ... but several of my faves are playing tomorro/Tuesday

[5] J Monaco (ARG) vs [Q] I Navarro (ESP)
C Berlocq (ARG) vs [2] S Wawrinka (SUI)
[3] D Nalbandian (ARG) vs P Starace (ITA)
[WC] J Acasuso (ARG) vs [7] A Dolgopolov (UKR)
I Andreev (RUS) vs E Schwank (ARG)
L Kubot (POL) vs P Cuevas (URU)

I'm going there tonight. I'll give you a report tomorrow. GO NALBI

never knew clay courts could look so good ... that BA lawn tennis club looks like a beautiful venue!

Looking forward to your report, diegaa ... hope king david is 100% (after his retirement at AO) ... apparently, LSH is planning (and maybe some of the other sites, who knows) to show it.

Not Before 7:30 PM (it's now just after 7:00)
[3] D Nalbandian (ARG) vs P Starace (ITA)

Starace has had huge succes with S/V on breakpoints. How can an experienced pro player have such horrendous volleys?

True, Zildite, and yes, a bummer - but it was to Chucho. He's a good claycourt player and a wily vet.

There were some who didn't think he'd go far, but I have to admit to having been concerned when I saw that was Sasha's first match.

Were there a lot of UEs, or did Chucho just play the better match?

hi, rue! :)
afaik, the only match from the BALTC that was shown online was king david's ... and he def potito in straights ... only good thing about both alex and igor losing today is that now they can concentrate on their doubles! we still gotta come up with a team name for them! :p

Hi, LG!

There was a stream for Sasha-Chucho coming in from Argentinian TV (I saw the last part of the first set) but I'm embarrassed to tell you I can't remember where I found it. :???:

I saw David's match point. Such a sexy drop shot, lol. I heard he'd been a little streaky before that, made some crazy errors, but I'm hoping being at home will sustain him through the tournament.

Still thinking about names for those rock-n-roll doubles players, lol. :)

here's what i saw yesterday:
Nalbandian-Starace:
Both players started the match studying themselves, like in a boxing fight. They were playing at 3/4 max speed, with a full speed shot once in a while by Nalbandian, while potito wasnt hitting the ball too nicely. In the second set Nalbandian started to find those typical angles of his, but overall it was pretty much the same that in the 1st set.
Dolgo-Chucho:
Honestly, I was expecting a 62 62 victory for the Ukranian. I couldn't believe the poor fighting spirit of Dolgopolov! He played lile a #500, lots of UE on really EASY shots. It was EXTREMLY disappointing, so much that people started booing at him. In the second set, things improved a bit and the crowd intended to cheer him up but the guy was already f*cked up. On the positive side: Dolgo made some impressive dropshot, it is clear that the guy has a great hand.

Nico v. Chucho and David v. Tommy? I don't think you can ask for a better pair of top half quarters than that. :)

I can swear that Robredo just dropped the spanish P-word twice, looked like it was directed at Nalbandians back or perhaps the umpire. He wasn't just saying it out loud, both players were at the net after a point and Nalbandian was walking back to the baseline.

I'm not entirely sure though, don't go around telling everyone since it hasn't been verified. :D

Almagro vs. Chela final. Nico going for two in a row and his 9th title whilst Chela is in good form after beating down Stan. Should be a good one.
