Aussie Free to Air US Open Coverage?

Okay - same question as with the French. I haven't found any signs of US Open coverage during the first week on Free to Air, and was wondering if any other Aussies had heard of anything I may have missed.

Hopefully they at least show the second week. It wasn't so long ago that we'd at least get a 30 minute round up show the next morning, but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Fingers crossed for at least some coverage of the last Grand Slam of '07.

Galain,

According to the anti-siphoning provisions in the Broadcasting Services Act, a free-to-air provider holding the rights to broadcast the French and/or US Open is only obliged to show, "Each match in the men’s and women’s singles quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals". I don't know if that means each match in its entirety or if they are allowed to show only highlights.

I've checked the Channel 9 TV guide. No tennis in the first week. Most likely coverage from the semis. I tried to ring Channel 9 tonight but the girl was a bit vague. She said to ring back in the morning.

probably one of the reasons tennis is so unpopular in australia. the free to air channels only show the aus open and wimbledon.

Ha! Good luck...only on Fox Sports 2 down here in Melbourne. What makes me really angry is that apparently they signed a deal agreeing to televise from the quarters onward in the French and US Open.

I'm pretty sure channel nine will broadcast from the quarters onwards. It bloody pisses me off the way FTA in Australia treats sport. It didnt show one bloody match from the French Open. How ******** is that!

Hey.. Anyone thought about broadcasting Fox Sports or Ch 9 on TVU Player for the rest of us Aussie's in other parts of the world.. I miss the voices of Stolle, Newcombe and Trabert.. And I am having a hell of a time of getting a decent stream to watch the USO on at the moment..

Also, anyone with a wide screen television recieving a 14:9 picture??
Because i sure am, and pissed off about it!!
Last year they showed the US Open in full 16:9, why have they gone back a step? Hoping Channel 9 will broadcast in 16:9 next week.

Well here is the article of nine's US Open broadcast, suppose it's better than nothing.

It sure is a joke. You'd think with the new digital channels and such, we'd be getting better sport coverage. The new NRL deal is absolutely rubbish too, if anything Nine is actually going backwards with its sport coverage. I'm thankful that at least we get to see the QFs onwards at least.

Tell me about it, it was ridiculous that none of the FO was aired on free to air. I thought channel 9 isn't broadcasting any of the US open this year, I hope I'm wrong.
