Babolat Pure Drive 2024 Official Thread

At this point I just kind of trust Babolat's timing. The Pure Strike v4 was a significant improvement over the previous version. The Pure Aero 2023 was a significant improvement over the prior version (for most people). Pure Drive 2021 was much better than the one before. I'm sure the next Pure Drive will be awesome.

I think, looking at the Pure Strike release earlier this year, the new 2024 or 2025 pure drive will be either:
1) Blue, with black double babolat stripes, or
2) Black, with blue double babolat stripes (less likely).

I just want to see Roddick versions paintjob with subtle changes. It was such a beautiful paintjob

Good thought, but given the simplified cosmetics of the Pure Strike this year, if that trajectory continues then the Pure Drive may also be 'simplified' to just blue with black double stripes bilaterally (as distinct from the 2018 PD with black and white stripes on the smurf).

I wonder if it might be like the latest pure aero with contrasting opposite stripes. In other words, a blue racquet with black double stripes on one side and white double stripes on the other.

Yep, Babolat & Yonex are absolutely nailing it from a retail perspective. Hopefully there’s more PSVS level paint jobs at some stage.

Yep...looks like wimby paintjob. Apparently there is also another predominantly blue paintjob of 1 of the PD models this year, but doesn't sound as if it is for all the PDs. I think we'll have to wait til 2025 for the 'new' PD.

I think I'm most interested in a new Pure Drive 98. Maybe the flax technology or whatever it's called that they put in the Aeros and Strikes will make it feel like a usable frame.

I will def get two of them when they come up with the new line. Samefor the upcoming wimbledon issue. I get ring and roll to customize them. Regarding feel: silicone in the handle changes quite a bit how a frame "feels". I played .25 inch extended and now I will get the plus version or just get a couple of team versions and make them longer and heavier to the desired specs.

Well Roddick isn’t sponsored anymore plus he’s looking for a new frame. Tweeted it out about a month ago but agreed. He was the big name after Moya (even though he uses the Soft Drive)

They seriously must've had a bad falling out, seems crazy they wouldn't keep him as a sponsored guy, in his recent tweet he was asking about new racquets and he said no Babolat too. Obviously Nadal is a much better player, but Roddick really made Babolat crazy popular even before Nadal won his first RG in 05.

I realize saying Roddick put Babolat on the map may be an American centric view, and perhaps it is, but regardless of Moya winning a slam and reaching number 1 with his Pure Drive in 98, they really seemed to explode in 01 when Roddick had his breakout season.

Would love to see Babolat and Roddick reconcile, make it happen @Babolat Official

I'm not a massive fan of this shade of blue for the PD, similar to how I don't like the 2018 one. It's just that this one looks more metallic than that one.

All subjective though at the end of the day. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see videos of them in hand.
