Berdych's racquet

Pallet + buttcap would be about $40. I have heat-shrink sleeves at home. It would also be an easy way to add half an ounce to the handle - basically killing two birds with one stone.

I may be shipping another racket to FL (Monday/Tuesday).
I can just get you the 1/2 pallet and the FL guy can FWD to you (as a gift).
I have the Head shaped (TK57 or 76) in 1/2, and the TK82S.
Let me know.
;)

Berdych could have used different specs/customization or they could be coming from another player. The pro stock racquets have so many different specs...
All the TGK260.2 i have seen were all different in term of specs.

Agreed.
I assumed both were from TB.
They will be different as I played with silicone and lead on the Radical PJ one.

Thanks for the offer but I think that I'll use the shrink wrap - that is
if it is warranted. I won't really know what I'm doing until I actually
get the swingweight of the frame.

BTW, I did some digging and that Customs facility in New York can be a
huge bottleneck. I've seen people waiting up to three months for stuff
to get shipped. The flow through Customs in FL is much, much faster on
the order of being very reasonable.

> I assumed both were from TB.

I wish. Maybe that's a story for another time.

I'm going to order a retail frame and try customizing to these specs.
I guess that I'll find out if the 260.2s have the YT technology or not.

Well, they're both great frames - I can see how it would be hard to
decide.

Movdqa,
have you been able to measure your(s) 260.2 on a rdc machine?
what are the specs and the flex?
Thanks!

It's on my list of things to do. It's a bit of a trip to get to the RDC machine and I was hoping to have a second 260.2 to match up with.

That's the point. He plays with the Radical PJ because he's superstitious.

I heard a engineer say that sometimes the molecule in different colored dye align differently and affects the aerodynamics of the racket. that might explain the different feel with different color PJ

The decals are different too but probably no real difference. The lead strips at 3/9 are not perfectly lined up either. There's about a 3/16 inch difference.

Weight is 13 ounces and balance is 5 or 6 points headlight. I posted that a while ago. He plays with a white overgrip too (13 oz is without the overgrip). Also plays with an "O" dampener - I don't know what those weigh compared to the rubber band that came with the strung one.

Excuse my niavety with these things, but I can't see where his strings are tied? How does he decide who serves first without the rough and smooth :)

I remember you saying that the 260 needs mass to have adequate power. Am I right in assuming that at 13ox, it just crushes the ball!

Nice looking sticks, also noticed the trader joes receipt, love that place :)

It does crush the ball but you need the strength to get the thing moving fast enough. It's not surprising that he has a two-handed backhand.

And you're supposed to have gone to Stanford? HA!

Can't you just, stop being completely mind-bogglingly clueless, for once?

There are two of his old Dunlops for sale at the String Forums. You could ask the seller for the specs or buy one or both.

You already have Head pro stocks so you should already know. As I said before, there are two of his Dunlos for sale at string forums if you want one or two.

I took off the bumper/grommet to take a peek and there was four inches of lead at 12:00. So the formula for making a Berdych racquet is to take a tgk260.2, put four inches at 12 under the bumper, 2 x six inches at 3:00 and 2x six inches at 9:00 and then add silicone in the handle to get to 13 ounces (including dampener but not including overgrip).

I also learned a little something about grommet strips. After taking it off, I was unable to get it back on as some of the grommets didn't line up with the holes. It's not clear to me as to whether or not my second frame was ever strung but a few of them were frayed and a few had small dents. I didn't have an awl handy but I did have a variety pack of nails (good for adding weight in the handle - you just push it into the silicone). I used a medium-sized nail to align the grommets with the holes and got it back on. The question is should I try to make another one?

Interesting, thanks for all of your posts. Question if I may? Is the lead at 12:00 four inches total i.e. 2 separate 2 inch strips of lead? Or is it 2 separate 4 inch strips of lead?

Thanks again and keep up the great posts! Griff.

It is two separate strips, quarter inch tape I believe. I took pictures but have not uploaded them yet.

Being a pro stock frame, I would have thought it would require more lead in the hoop. If my math is correct, we're talking about

At 12: 8" equals 2grams

At 3: 12" equals 3 grams

At 9 12" equals 3 grams

Only 8g total so there must be a vast quantity of silicone in the handle.

Thanks for the pics.

When I was using the APD's I always had my lead at 12. Even when trying lead and 3/9, I always liked keeping some at the tip as well for the rotational help.

uhm im not sure if this is correct. movdqa said 2 seperate 4 inch strips at 12 so 2 grams. now i assume he meant the exact same thing for 3 + 9. and with 2x 6 inches he just explains its layered.

so 2grams at 12 and 6grams at 9 and another 6grams at 3

im sure he will clear this up.
thx for the infos

Yup, the strips at 3 and 9 are layered.

I measured the width of the strips as they looked a bit wider than 1/4 and they were 5 /16ths in many places so it looks like half-inch tape was cut down. I'm not sure if 5/16ths was intentional or if it was an attempt to split it down the middle.

Berdych technique is under-appreciated and under-rated.
Very smooth, efficient and economical strokes. Cannot see anything funny he does with hips or wrists or legs or finish.

Forehand has elements of Fed in it minus the flair.
