Oops, you're right. It's 13/15 (86.66%). I double counted the 1983 Masters (held in 1984) and the 1985 Masters (held in 1985).

I remember reading that the ATP rankings of the first few years where based in that premise, i.e., efficiency more than sum of points. This was detrimental to Vilas in 1977 who played lots of tournaments.

No sarcasm, McEnroe's season peak has a good argument to be the best ever, that was a stellar year. The most dominant season of the Open Era by % of matches, sets, and games won. Could be the GOAT season if not for that epic fail in the French final.
