Big 3 all seem to be injured going into the US Open. Is there a big potential for an upset?

Federer had to withdraw from all tournaments leading up to US Open, citing a bad knee. Nadal says he is not at his best right now, his foot is causing him problems. Djokovic lost at Olympics due to injury, pulled out of mixed doubles and now pulled out of Cincinnati. Is there a big potential for an upset at the US Open now?

Probably. Djokovic's schedule was clearly geared towards RG+WB and he's been having more and more niggles. Rafa is out of shape. Federer is pretty much gone.

Would be true to form. Since '11, these are the slam champs, at all 4 venues

AO: Djokovic, Wawrinka, Federer
RG: Nadal, Wawrinka, Djokovic
Wim: Djokovic, Murray, Federer
USO: Djokovic, Murray, Nadal, Cilic, Wawrinka, Thiem

Kyrgios is a combined 6-0 against the current top 3...

Yes.

Yup. Novak Djokovic’s bid for the CYGS and undisputed GOAThood shall come crashing down faster than you can shout “lineswoman’s throat”.

And I, for one, am gleefully looking forward to it.

I just can't imagine the big 3 being AWOL at the USO resulting in the most disgusting tennis ever played resulting in a non big3 "winner".

I take it you missed USO 2020 final. With Federer injured, Nadal skipping and Djokovic self destructing.

Federer: either doesn't play, or is ousted in the R16 or perhaps earlier
Nadal: catches fire, but then gets injured during a grind fest with a next gen player, then has to retire from that match during a QF or semi match down 2 sets to 1.
Djoker: he will be completely fine.

Like every slam, (except USO 2020) I will hope one of my favorite young players will end up winning by playing exquisite tennis in the semis and in the final, I will hope it even more after how good they will play against journeymen, but they will end up choking or being destroyed by either Djokovic or Nadal, and of these two will be lifting the trophy.

I know it but I will still watch the tournament with interest nonetheless, and if the miracle happens, hallelujah, but I am not that confident. I know it's maybe not logical but that's pretty much my feeling right now lol.
So let it be

One word: No.
The winner will be Novak Djokovic. And if you think that the next gen will beat him in a slam, then think again. It's NEVER happened except with Thiem.
And if anything the next gen are WEAKER than before. Titsp, Med, Thiem are all is slumps.
I wouldn't be surprised if Novak won UsOpen without dropping a set.

1. There is no "big three" anymore, Federer is irrelevant at 40.

2. Djokovic is not injured

3. Nadal is not winning the USO

The reasonable deduction is that Djokovic is the prohibitive favorite and in the poll position to take home the CYGS. There's little possibility of an upset unless Zverev suddenly becomes a non-choker. The rest of the field has no chance.

Djoko is getting old.
He loses matches because of poor fitness and lack of endurance.
He looks out of shape.
( I used sentences you have repeatedly posted about someone else.)

The thing is that Novak hasn't lost in any slam matches for a long time.
But Nadal has been losing in the AO, French Open etc.
We will see, but so far Novak seems to be not showing his age. Also keep in mind he is younger than Nadal and started late, so has fewer matches.

Djoko recently lost at the Olympics 2 matches in a row.
