Big4 together one last time - Laver Cup 2022

G.O.A.T.
Djok, Raf, Fed, Muzz, Alcaraz, Med, maybe Tsitsipas, Zverev, Ruud, Berrettini? not sure who would join

Yeah team world has zero chance, lol
This is an exho, they'll get Alcaraz because he's hyped and hits droppers and they can milk the old goats mentoring the successor storyline.

And Berrettini because he's good looking and isn't Zed xD

can we just get rid of this trash event already? it is fake af and just a waste of calendar space on tour......nobody would give a damn about it once the big-3 retires anyway......

Glad to see this as I rather suspected Federer was going to pull out.

But I doubt he would have gone to all the effort of getting the rest of the gang involved if he wasn't intending to play.

Not sure Team World's chances are going to be lower than last year - Federer's form is unknown, Murray has to be beatable and the Doubles partnerships will owe more to showbusiness than compatibility. Plus Team Europe really wanted to humiliate them last year.

So next Wimbledon he won't play because he'll share a cell with Boris Becker?

Seriously, why should it take a huge amount of money to bring players together in such a way? They are supposed to have fun there. They should play for nothing and donate all the money. And especially Djokovic will just be happy to be able to play somewhere anyway. He will have no tournaments around Laver Cup this year.

Exactly. Whatever the ups and downs these guys have had with each other they know they've been part of something really special in tennis that might never be seen again. It's not weird that Novak should like the idea of celebrating that.

And the images won't do his profile any harm.

They really need to split the teams differently too. Far too one sided although in fairness this time, Roger will be super rusty and Novak also pretty rusty.
They'll leave it alone this year so the 'big 4' will all be on the same team. But realistically, the big 4 are not getting any younger. Two of them already have significant physical issues, and the other two? Who knows. Time stands still for no one.

Going forward however, they need to change the format. The two captains (Borg with an assistant) going one by one and choosing each of their teams - though that would have to be done in private lest feelings get hurt. Or maybe just dividing the teams based on their individual rankings a month or so before the conflict.

Or maybe age vs beauty with those over 30 being on one team and having to face those under 30. Could be carnage.

I hope they are all physically able to play this year. I'll certainly try to watch. I think it's on The Tennis Channel, which means getting a subscription for a month. Will it be worth it?.

Besides just wanting to 'play with the guys', I would think Novak's endorsement deals might be encouraging his participation. As things stand now, he won't be getting too much more exposure the next few months.

Is the theme still Europe vs World? Can't they change it to something like big 5 (Stan) vs Next gen (Sinner, Alcaraz, Felix, Rune and Gaston)?

There's really no downside to Novak in playing this. I don't think his relationship with Federer is anything like as bad as people claim - it's his bonkers family who have the issues, not Novak himself.

Rafa is the only one Federer likes of the Big4. Rafa likes Federer and Murray but he knows Djokovic doesn't like him particularly, and Djokovic doesn't like any of them. Murray likes Rafa and tolerates Djokovic but he is not keen on Roger because Roger used to diss Murray when he had a positive h2h against him..
