Check out the forehand return from Gonzalez at 3:55. If that isn't the biggest shot ever then I don't know what is. The official record is Monfils 188kph, right? Well this return looks at least as big as the serve, and the serve was 198kph. Surely the biggest on record?

a lot of returns simply dont register on the mph. pros seem to be able to hit returns fastest of all

I would say Gonzo's were harder, but they were off of serves, so del Potro had to generate more power on his own.

Not bad... definitely not as fast as Blake's though.

And the very next point in that clip, Federer blasts a backhand service return winner that's just about as fast...

best shot ever was the nadal passing shot on the run in the 4th set tiebreak of the iconic wimbledon final 2008 to set up match point.

then federer hit an awesome passing shot(not on the run) of his own the very next point to save match point.

I think the Gonzo return initially posted was the biggest. He hit it to the middle of the court. That is an extremely fast shot with an extremely small amount of time in the air.
