Hey, BB! What have you been up to? You've given this board a lot of useful information over the years. I always looked forward to your posts. Stick around, man.

I got married to a fantastic woman. She is loving tennis and is learning fast. She just ordered some racquets here so I thought I would stop in to say hi.

Congratulations. Were those racquets her Valentine's Day present?

Welcome back! Looking forward to reading more of your exceedingly helpful posts.

Thank you guys. I really love you. I will try my best now to stick around. I had dedicated few years to instill some sense into our leaders' minds such as "Stop War Start Peace". If there is peace there will be lots of tennis.

Yer name was legendary back when I began my quest to figure out what makes a tennis ball do what it does. I wasn't nearly far enough along at the time to even get anything out of yer posts. Looking forward to seeing whether what I *think* I've learnt matches up with what a legend knows. :)

Bienvenue, BB. Great to hear that the reports of your death were greatly exaggerated. Has your SO mellowed you out at all or are you as feisty as ever? Mellow or feisty, I look forward to see you posting again with your great insights.

Welcome back to the fold, guys! Hope all is well and life is good.

I'm not on here much but like to look in to see what is being discussed on occasion. Glad you have jumped back in.

Best to you guys.

Welcome back BB and Mahboob.

Good to hear from you guys. What's Rabbit been up to? WHERE is SoCalLefty?
Rabbit's been lending his technical expertise in both the Racquets and Stringing sections. SoCalLefty I'm not sure about. I did however find out the whereabouts of some others:

- Deuce: Fell in love and married the guitarist from an all-female Gothic rock band. They have since opened a successful chain of spiritual retreat centers in the Canadian Rockies focusing on alternative uses for vegatables.

- Larry Hall: Parlayed his potent lead role earnings in many male-only adult film classics by heading his own adult film company based in Simi Valley, California. Has since changed his name to Ben Dover.

- Susanseemiller: Ended up hitting the cougar jackpot by marrying the (much) younger man of her dreams, Rafael Nadal. Nadal's supposed knee injuries (and silent ban rumors) actually represented their hush-hush honeymoon period that they assumed would have turned into a media circus if known.

- Phil: Music legend in Japan. Owner of "Ride 'em Joe!" the most exclusive Country & Western cabaret nightclub in Tokyo. Is married to a former Miss Japan.

Good to see you back Bungalo Bill. What's it been, like five years since you last posted here?

See you've already posted in the "pat-the-dog" backhand thread. Be interested to see your take on it.

Classic stuff, DP. :) Glad to hear LH and Deuce are staying busy. As you mentioned, Rabbit's posts are fewer and far between but he's still kicking. I miss Phil most of all. Every few months, I'll run a search to look for his last post, hoping for something new. Hoping he's alive and well and bugging the sh*t out of someone, somewhere. :)

Yeah, Dedans, that Larry Hall was a real wild card. Sometimes he'd chip in good stuff, sometimes flaky stuff. Sold him a racquet once.

There's a little "join date" tag under my moniker here, but I used a different name back around 2000 or so. Can't recall it. Doesn't really matter.

Lol, very funny. I remember Phil.

Does anybody remember POGO? I think the last thing of note he said was that he was going to war[Afghanistan?] and was never heard from since. If I remember right, he was married to an Argentine and he collected Yonex RD7s that were only unused and still had the plastic on grip.

Is this true? The one and only BB is back? And Mahboob as well?

Oh glorious day! :D

All we need now is Aykhan Mammadov back to have a full party ;)

Mahboob also used to give very detailed advice, like 10 things for the forehand, etc.

Lol, yeah don't know how you would get much more opposite or simplistic then Pat the Dog or the U shape hand swing for a one hander. Maybe we just should say "here is a tennis racquet, now go swing it." Haha

^^^Science and Art! The coach HAS to know the Science - how they give that to the student is the Art!

As a coach on a forum we usually have to deal more in the science, on court we deal the Art. TCF, much like I am finding more and more in my own coaching, is finding more success giving out less of the science on court and finding the most efficient way to help the pupil achieve the desired feeling.

I did a great exercise with a group of Elite coaches from various different Olympic and Paralympic disciplines the other week to illustrate exactly how effective that process can be!

Cheers

Basically Trebs, the coaches had to pair up to teach each other a skill from their own sport (could be any discreet skill of their own choosing). Before starting they had to write down all the key technical teaching points they would use when teaching, all their best technical jargon. Then just before starting their teaching, they were told they couldn't use any of the words or phrases on the paper. Some found this particularly difficult as it forced them to find alternative ways of communicating and imparting their information. Was good fun to challenge and be challenged in this way!

Cheers

sounds like an interesting challenge.
i remember a few years ago i had a group of beginners to teach.
when i arrived at the club, there was deafening noise from heavy machines. instead of my usual explanations, i had to resort to showing them what i wanted them to do. we had a lot of fun and it worked quite well too.

^^^Yeah, I did a sponsored "coach in silence" at one of my old clubs to raise money for charity, really makes you think, but actually the effectiveness can actually go up.

Thanks for reminding me why I find The Beatles completely overrated.

-SF

Blasphemy, Mr Negativity. Don't really give a rodent's posterior what you think of the Beatles. There are other, more suitable forums around where you can express such misguided musical opinions.
