Cricket fans on TT ?

I think he's probably been lead astray by poor management and greedy people around him. He's just going to have to hope that he isn't banned for a seriously long time, he's got the potential to go down as one of the all time greats.

Really liked Aamir and Asif but they have tarnished the reputation of Pakistan cricket. I think only Aamir has a slight chase of not getting the life ban...

Yeah, the best thing that could happen is life bans. Anything less and players will know they can get away with it again in the future. They say the 2nd Test against Australia was fixed, aswell as the 1st of this series at Trent Bridge.

Jeff Lawson was saying Pakistan can't be banned from playing as it would ruin cricket in the Country, well letting them continue could well ruin the game of cricket for everyone else. Will people go and watch their team against Pakistan if they think they are watching a sham? It was so strange the silence and morbid atmosphere at Lords on Sunday, it was like the sole of the game wasn't there with this Pakistan team playing. Hearing Strauss you could see how it made the victory feel pretty hollow, the game that should of been remembered for he brilliant batting of Trott and Broad is now remembered for ugly reasons. Ricky Ponting said that come back win in January was one of the best moments of his career and I myself enjoyed watching that game, to think the result was probably fixed is such a shame.

I think the Pakistan Cricket Board and the team management should be sacked; they are ineffective in discipling the team. Players who are found guilty should get life bans. This will set a good example for the future players. Banning Pakistan wont be a good idea; Pakistan domestic cricket has a lot of potential and talent. Pakistan can surely make a new team after getting rid of the cheats. I am big fan of Pakistan cricket, I felt betrayed and ashamed. England gave us a "home" series, and this is what our team gave them in return. And to do this at Lords - the most sacred cricket ground in the world ! Just makes me angry and very very sad. The irony is that the series name is "Spirit of Cricket".

Questions shouldn't be asked about the Sydney test match, it's just a great example of how Pakistan are the most entertaining side in cricket, one minute they'll bowl a team out for 10, then be all out chasing it for 4.

Yeah, I think what you say is how alot of the Pakistan fans are feeling. To see the fans back at home be so disappointed and the fans over here pelting their team bus with tomato's shows just how upset they are.

On face value it looks, as usual, as if the countries which cry foul so often about all things to do with cricket administration (such as the Asian countries recently vetoing the John Howard to become head of the cricket assn) are the exact ones which can't lie straight in bed.

The bar for honesty and acting ethically in Pakistan and India especially is so low it should be no surprise at all that this sort of crap is mentioned so often with regards to sports. You only have to look at the lip-service paid to the concept of corruption-free contract bidding processes and how miserably this failed in the preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth games to see how laughable their efforts really are.

I watched the match and this match was at the same level with the 2005 Ashes edgebaston test match on the basis of performance and drama.

TEST CRICKET AT IT'S VERY BEST.

I *hate* cricket. I know folk who are addicted to it and are part of the whole betting thing. They;ve told me it's *totally* rigged. e.g. They knew the result of the last world cup more than a month in advance.

the person i speak of is very close and would not lie, although he could brag a bit. he did say that the result of the world cup was known a month in advance (india vs pak) as well as who would win.
He says he is quite sure that even the progress of a match is decided in advance - such as when wickets will fall, but there it is his suspicion. There is a whole ball by ball online betting system on cellphones with a broadcast happening on special cellphones.

you think a bitter rivalry such as Ind-Pak, a WC final would be fixed b/w them ????? seriously ??????

match-fixing is not *that* prevalent in cricket, but spot-fixing probably is ( I dunno if you know the difference , if you don't , I'll explain later)

if your friend thinks *every* match is fixed, he's nuts , frankly ... that'd involve such a large % of players, that it is unfathomable !

Personally I think India are a cancer to cricket.
Their bowling sucks, and they can't handle the short-pitched stuff. But, come on man: Cancer? Really? At least, they seem to be playing it straight rather than cutting deals with shady bookies.

weighing everything up, I still fancy Aus to win - they're just trying to make out they're not favourites so when they do win they'll claim they did 'amazingly' to beat this England side. ;)

Yeah, I think the home advantage should probably be enough. It was enough for England last time and i'd expect Australia to take advantage of it this winter.

Thats a pretty easy prediction to make, India have never lost to Pak in a WC.

And all I have to say to the rest of India sucks brigade: we're currently number one in the only format that matters. So suck on that. And while the bowling might have dipped this year, Zaheer Khan still brings it every time and Ishant is quite a handful when healthy.

Yall keep hating, we'll keep winning.

Just re-started the thread since Pakistan beat England 3-0 in the test series. Who could have predicted that with England being No.1 in the world. And in UAE we get test matches that don't last 5 days ...superb.

On the other hand, India team has turned into a bunch of spineless individuals who play for personal glory and stats. Truly deserved the 4-0 thrashing they got from Australia.

I didn't think it would of been 3-0, but I expected Pakistan to win.

England can't bat on those kind of pitches, for whatever reason. We bowled really well all series, as usual. I thought the batting would cost us a game or two and we would go down 2-1. Nice to see Pakistan looking serious and organised though!

too much cricket. stopped watching (except the world cups) in 2000 when I moved to the US. with the advent of t20, its going down the toilet. give me wasim and waqar and ill watch them bowl 24x7 but not any of the current crop of bowlers.

Nice win by England in the 1st Ashes Test. One of the most enjoyable finishes I've ever seen.

Still not really recovered from the 2005 series, 4 of the 5 matches had me a nervous wreck!

Great start to the series though. Anderson was incredible, and will continue to be all series. The weather is supposed to get even warmer, around 35 degrees next week so the pitches should be dry, helping Anderson reverse it and Swann to get alot out of them.

Said 3-1 before the series, i'm happy with that prediction so far.

What do you think about the World Cup?
To add to the previous post, I've lost a significant amount of interest in the game these days. It's sad but it's what falling out of love is.

I don't really have much of an insight into the forthcoming world Cup except for the fact that India will find a way to bottle it up :p

We can agree on that :D

Yes i follow cricket and particularly test match cricket and like to follow all the teams and how they evolve. The Ashes series this year was a great series. When Australia tours England it’s full on and everyone is into it.
The whole Johnny Bairstow run out was a classic and it got the crowd and members fully engaged.
In the 80’s the West Indies were fantastic and the whole saga about the World Series cricket was great. Then you had the Pakistan era with Imran Kahn who was very popular everywhere he went. Australia v India with Sachin Tendulkar and controversial Harbijan Singh was a classic:
Then you had the rise of Sri Lanka and captain Ranatunga and spinner Muraly was great theatre.
Then you had the return of South Africa to cricket and they had a very good side with Cronje, Pollack, and Graham Smith and last but not least NZ with Sir Richard Hadley, great player .

I think the sledging in cricket is quite entertaining. When Australia was playing South Africa in the One Day World Cup final Australian captain Steve Waugh was fighting to restore Australia’s innings and he offered a catch to South African ( maybe Darryl Cullinan) who dropped it and Steve Waugh went up to him and said “You just dropped the World Cup”, and that game went down to the wire with a run out to give Australia the win.
The other sledge was directed at Shane Warne when one of the players from the other team asked Shane “Why are you so fat “, in which Shane answered ,”because every time I make love to your wife she gives me a biscuit”.
