Shot clock idealist are a joke. The only ones who really care are the fans and it was supposed to usher in the fall of Nadal. Of course, it hasn’t worked, even with the clock starting immediately and Nadal have three violations called against him, the last one being a bit if BS with the ump asking the crowd for quiet and a fee seconds layer calling time. He did okay stopping the clock a few times and managed things well aside from the last call.
But it is funny that now with the shot clock, with umps starting it almost immediately after the lat point, and with Nadal getting three violations, including one that possibly changed the match with the loss of that game, Nadal still won and the new panty bunch whining is, it is not enough because he is still winning.
Again, Medvedev had a few issues with Nadal taking time on his serve, but really was unphased with it all. Players really don’t care anywhere near fans we see it as a tool to stop Nadal, and maybe Djo.
The real reason it became an issue is advertising and broadcast schedules for networks. Time is money after all.
Loved having the shot clock there and how both Medvedev and Nadal still had an epic battle. One of the best we have seen in a while. Would have loved for it to go to a tie break for the fifth though.
