I'll be there. :)

R. Federer alone is not gonna cut it either btw...
Or N. Djokovic...

The problem is Switzerland have Wawrinka as a second player and Serbia Tiparevic but for the british except Murray they don`t have any good singles players. They got to hope Murray wins both singles and the doubles with his bro

....

My favorite tennis event too! Will they televise any of this in the States?

Austria/GBR at Wimbledon. Pretty cool.

Aussies at Anto f a g asta...pretty funny how the name of the city in Chile is censored. Anyway, I bet Fernando's feeling good that it's not in Australia.

Stanley and Roger against the Belgians ought to be really entertaining....all those striking one-handers.

Melzer is not so bad, and Austria's 1st and 2nd singles player both ranked inside top 100 (well... almost), wherea Great Britain's 2nd best single's player is ranked 172. I'm not at all saying that GB can't win, I'm just laying out my humble opinion as to which country has a _slightly_ (and I do mean slightly) better chance to win ;)

The biggest two mismatch would probably be Croatia v. Brazil and Slovak v. Serbia. Croatia has all the big tall servers (Karlovic, Ljubicic, Ancic, Cilic...) and the match will be played indoors. Serbia not only have Djokovic and Tipsarevic, they also have one of the best doubles team in the world.

However, player's lineup for each country's not out yet; so far I know only Murray and Federer are comfirmed.

Get outta here, you sicko!!!

Orange, for many people (including many posting on this thread, the first thing D Cup beings to mind is a bra size....and a very large size it is. Next time refer to Davis Cup as DC although, D Cup does draw attention to the event.

Or maybe it was just a humourous play on words by you? If if so, it's pretty funny.

Well, I guess I'm glad that my thread drawn some attention to the Davis Cup... I was hoping more people would comment more on the playoffs though!

Com'on, it's the most exciting tennis event!!

Ja i realise that. I was just picking up on the OP mentioning those two players for Serbia and Switzerland.
But i do believe we have a good record against Austria (back when we had Henman and the like). I like to be optimistic for my country. ;)

Lol

I was expecting a great Chile-Australia, but it's sad we won't see Hewitt there.

Great Britain could be upset by Austria. Andy Murray has to take the weight, I'm curious to see how does he handle it.

What's your guys take on Netherlands-South korea? Do we stand a chance? Haase is coming back from injury and doing well in a challenger event now. Or second player will probably be Huta Galung, who made the main draw of Roland Garros this year (we play on clay). Does anyone know how Lee has been doing lately?

Orange, I think you've accidentally stumbled upon a whole new way to market the Davis Cup to men (and lesbians).

I live in Antof-a-gasta and I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday for the series between Chile and Australia. With Hewit out, I think our national team actually has a chance, although it's a shame I won't be able to see him play live.

Your team has a chance anyway? Hewitt playing or not, Gonzalez could at least win both his matches the form he's in. 4th round US Open, silver in Beijing. Massu is second singles player i expect?

You never know, Gonzalez is quite an unpredictable player, as well as Massu, although he's in a much worse form than Gonzo. I still can't get past our defeat at the hands of Israel. :?

I don't know, but I saw Haase at Croatia open playing against Ancic. Haase lost (well he was playing against a home favourite) but he looked pretty impressive. That was before his injury I think... so I guess for the DC playoff it could be a toss-up between two countries.

We should have a better second player. Huta Galung is no. 170, their second is230 in the world. Huta Galung's favourite surface is clay. I don't know whether Korea has any tradition in doubles, we surely do, although our team is not very good atm. I give us a good chance. Lee has dropped a lot of places (ranked 142) as well:S how did that happen?

It would be a lot more exciting if we could see some of it in Canada. CBC has shown DC in the past (v. Chile eg) but not lately. So it's hard to visulalize what's happening on the court. Maybe someone will be live streaming somewhere.

I have tickets to See Great Britain v Austria but its going to be a close match.

Murray v Peya = Murray Win

Melzer v Bogdanovic = Melzer Win

Murray & Murray v Knowle and Melzer = Could go either way

Murray v Melzer = Again very close but Murray to edge it.

Bogdanovic v ? = Does it matter :(

If only GB had a good second singles player we could be a half decent team :(

Well, Mario is back, but this time Marin is out for the DC tie against Brazil  Paresis of facial nerves, out for a week. Still, Karlovic and Ancic should do the job.

Good gawd that sounds awful for Cilic... so half side of his face is frozen? How could one end up with paralysis of facial nerve??

It's not full paralysis, a milder version, but he must avoid physical and psychological stress not to aggravate it further. He was advised not to even watch the matches, but I suspect he'll disobey that one. They reported it could be due to exposure to the wind or a virus. He canceled the two tournaments in Asia, but hopefully will be fine after that.

Does anyone know where i'll be able to watch Netherlands-South Korea? The Dutch public TV used to broadcast but they wont do it anymore. Perhaps any dutch people around who could tell me?
