Dino's Volkls

All in all there are more than 600 racquets. The goal was never to reach a specific number, or get as many as possible. I got the first ones for collection purposes like 25 years ago, so it's taken a while to gather them all.

600 rackets, incredible! It made me smile. 600… o_O

And that's a lot of space and money too !!

I decided to bring out my little Volkl-collection. It's a long project, but I'm beginning to make an inventory of my racquets. The idea is to take individual pics and add specs, but as you can imagine it's going to take some time.

Beautiful collection.

Pity that Völkl sold out and no longer offer any flexible frames :(

It's always nice to see here "crazy" fellows who have a fantastic collection of great rackets. I'm thinking of you Dino and also legrandleconte or Alex78 who have tons of beautiful rackets, mainly old stuff or NOS. There are many others on that forum and too many to mention, sorry for those whom I forgot.

I have a nice collection of Fischer rackets -- 20 or so… -- and around me they call me "crazy" as well -- but my little collection is nothing compared to some here.

Hey Nico thanks for mentioning me, but there are many colleagues in the forum with better collections than mine.
At Fischer (one of my favorite brands), you beat me a lot, in quantity and quality.
The classics forum will be very entertaining now that Dino is back. Eagerly awaiting your post.

Thanks! Based on number of racquets in my collection, Völkl is probably number 3. Head is by far number 1.

I think that all collectors of classics should have the same.
Head number must be the first. In the 80's and 90's Head I made an incredible number of first class models.
In my case of 142 in total Head is the first with 35. Wilson 19 Yonex 17 etc.

Yeah, same to you. Im good but bored during lockdown in Australia but it's starting to lift up a bit slowly. How about you?
I'm good thanks. Out of home today again (and back to the office……). We'll see what happens next. Read that Australia handled all this pretty well, didn't they?

Yeah, and keep in mind that this is only the Völkl section, like 10 - 12% of the total... [emoji848][emoji51][emoji1787]

Thats what I told her, these are just his Volkls :laughing:

Sadly I was sponsored by Volkl for 12 years and all I have to show for it now are a few C10s (beat to hell) and my yellow bag which is still going strong.

Its so strange to me that they abandoned their core base who crave flexible racquets with lots of feel. The average Volkl player in my experience is a 30-50something high level player that doesnt care about celebrity player endorsements and just wants good feel & control and easy on the arm. Yet they have all these 70RA pieces of junk now, its just not right.

I suppose I should just email them instead of complaining here but I'm with a different sponsor now anyway.

Would love to see a pic of your full collection if you can fit it into one or 10 pics :D

If I bring out all the racquets in the yard, maybe I can get a good aerial shot with a drone or something. :)

I totally agree with your assessment of Völkl today.

So which company are you with now?

I feel the same about Volkl... too bad they abandoned what they did best. Anyone knows about current sales?

Lol too funny. I'd love to see that collection but don't spend a whole weekend on my account haha.

I'm with Head now (also adidas) and have been bitter about it since I haven't liked their graphene stuff. I'm using the 2020 Speed MP with lead now though and it plays like a dream. Not harsh and glassy like the previous gen. Been using playing them with Lynx Edge and Lynx Edge Tour 17. Hope that doesn't sound like a paid advertisement. I really like this setup and would use it if I was sponsored or not.

Yeah, I think so, but I don't want to reopen my shop until dine in is allowed, not just 10 customers at any time is not good enough,

Apologies to Dino - no intent to hi-jack his thread!
But I recently acquired this apparently rare animal: A C6 Pro. Not much info on this stick to be found, I wonder if any Völkl expert around here knows a thing or two about it.
Mold-wise, this looks to me like the C9 Comp: 98in², 22mm straight beam. Unstrung weight is 285g (with plastic on the grip).

Interesting. Looks like too many strings for me; but a very nice frame!

It's a 16x19 string pattern in a pretty much standard Völklesque 98in² frame. I also suppose this one needs some lead as it looks like a platform frame to me.

Just a glance made it look like 18 mains and a comparably dense cross pattern. I didn't study it too much. My Tour10 mid is the only dense pattern Volkl I really like. I much prefer the 16 mains, especially in frames from the '90s.

No problem. :)

I don't have much info, unfortunately. I remember trying it out in the early 2000s, and at the time I didn't think too much of it. IIRC it was supposed to be towards the cheaper end, a sort of good but still entry level racquet. It's been some twenty years, so I may get things confused, but that's my recollection.

Thanks for your reply and the info!
It's sitting right next to me, urging me to put on a leather grip and some lead ;) I'm just not there yet - I've liked the "Völkl feel" in the past but ultimately think the head shape is not ideal for my game. I "believe" I play best with racquets that are wider at the top, such as Blades, for instance. Currently using a heavily modded Gravity MP Lite, and performance-wise I have no reason to try something different. But what does that matter, anyway ;)
