Rational fans are rational and are able to criticize their guy when warranted. If Federer pulled this stunt organizing the Adria Tour, I would call for him to be sanctioned. Fandom doesn't mean blindly supporting your guy when they are spectacularly wrong about something. That's hagiography, not being a fan.
One thing is an adequate punishment, the other thing is an exaggerated punishment. Ban participation on the tour is an exaggerated and absurd punishment in this case, IMO.
Well, Nole underestimated the consequences of not keeping social distance. He apparently thought that the coronavirus was receding, that social distancing was not necessary, and that Serbian regulations didn't force him to take strict measures. It was a big mistake and another bigger mistake was to hold the infamous evening party.
The message from @ucswang was a hysterical cry, not a constructive criticism, so I set out against it.

Ridiculous. What about those who had no connection with tennis but might now get infected by contact with the players? They deliberately took risks and were not bothered by the consequences to others. Maybe if they got sued for damages that might change their tune.
Ridiculous. The risk is everywhere. No one has any obligation to isolate forever

I'm not confusing anything, tennisbg is a Djokovic fan, he gave that comment a like...
I'm talking about ucswang, not about tennisbg. Ucswang posted a similar post in one of the deleted threads, where he also demanded a ban for Novak from the tour. I can identify sarcasm, and this wasn't sarcasm, but a hysterical scream.

A ban seems excessive.

Best thing that could come out of this is if Novak could get himself some decent PR. Someone who could get him to drop the mumbo-jumbo and tell Papa Djok to put a sock in it.

Djokovic will address the public on Tuesday afternoon after he gets his test results.

After Grigor Dimitrov was found covid-19 positive, all other participants were tested, with Borna Coric, Novak's fitness coach and Dimitrov's coach also positive.

Alexander Zverev and his team were negative, and same goes for Marin Cilic and Andrey Rublev.

Djokovic refused to be tested yesterday in Zadar, instead doing it today after returning to Belgrade. The rest of his family have also been tested.

Ivanisevic had to undergo that procedure twice in five days and he was negative both times.

The town of Zadar published that out of 26 known test results today all 26 are negative, while they wait for the result of around 30 more tests.

Good to hear. Hopefully we have seen the worst of it and we can move on. Sounds like it won't be as bad as some feared. The town having no positives is the best news, and it might mean it was not the tourney that was the problem but the players activities outside the tourney.

o_O(n) This post is total BS. How can you call yourself a Novak fan, when you wish, that Nole to be banned from the tour?
While I don't agree with @uscwang regarding the suspension - I think other reprecussions are in order - @BeatlesFan already nailed it:

Djokovic screwed up bad here. @uscwang was a legit Djoker fan not some troll. Djoker is going to lose fans over this and I can't blame them.

Haha I am sure the only thing Roddick cares about now are unresolved issues with Djokovic. Especially considering he is out of the game from a long time, he has a wife and his own life.
Actually his opinion is quite fair and I don’t see any bias there.

He ranked 2011 season as like 4th or 5th in he greatest of all time seasons..cant trust that guy with Novak..

What happens to slam record now. .:cry:
If this doesn't affect his lungs on long term basis, then it's very much in his grasp, it will basically turn out to be a vaccination of sorts.

But we can't predict for the severity post recovery, all we can do is pray

I wish him and Jelena and everyone of their family and friends well. Also everyone they e come into contact with. That said, there’s just no defending this stupidity and his actual statement was disappointing to say the least.

Novak should consider skipping tournaments until the coronavirus situation is cleared. Keep Monty, RG, and Wimby for now. He can always get the #1 record.
It is very serious. Rome is in doubt. So is Tokyo Olympics.
I expect depleted draws in RG and Wimby due to player illness, health concern, or travel bans.
And his team should use private jet if they are to travel at all.
I posted this on Feb 24. Seems like a lifetime ago. Unfortunately, I'm afraid Novak's mind is seriously messed up when it comes to... um, science.
Hope he acceptd medical treatment for the virus if needed and no more that positive thinking takes care of everything shiiit.

This must be tough on the kids. Both their parents have the virus - probably the grandparents need to take care of them for two weeks. :(

Get well soon, Novak and Jelena.

The virus will have ZERO effect on someone like Novak, who is supremely fit and mentally strong. He would probably be asymptomatic. Even if he has symptoms there is literally a 99.999% chance of him not having anything worse than a regular hangover.
He should be back on court soon and back to winning slams and breaking records.

But yeah, overall it was careless by him. Putting yourself at risk is fine, but putting others is NOT. If someone were to be negatively impacted in the extreme, that would be unforgivable. And for someone as kind as Novak, he surely must be feeling terrible about what he did.

Does Srdjan Djokovic run the bloody forum or what? Discussing the world number 1’s covid diagnosis is perfectly valid and the threads should not be deleted just because some fan boys are hurt.

Then again Grigor is also extremely fit and he looked like a corpse in his match with Coric. Definitely not asymptomatic.

It's very sad what happened. Nole underestimated the seriousness of the situation, apparently thinking that coronavirus no longer posed such a threat as in previous months, his mistaken impression was also assured it, that Serbia and Croatia were little affected by coronavirus compared to other countries. He wanted to organize the exhibition event in a positive atmosphere, as a meeting of friends after several months of separation. The event went as if there was no corona, participants and local spectators wanted to for a while forget about the corona, its real and media side.
Regulations in Serbia and Croatia didn't force Nole to comply with strict safety measures, these regulations were created for local people, not for sports events with foreign athletes.

Nole deserves criticism for her carelessness, foolishness, but not the lynch! The proposals to ban Nole from the tour are disgusting and mostly motivated by hatred to Djoker.

so is hopes of Novak ever catching Roger's record in the black hole. he caught something else instead. now his chances of winning US open or French is in the dust this year. he will likely become more ill in coming weeks and he will be too weak to compete in September. better just train for 2021.

Not at all. It's June. It'll be July by the time he's better. Then he just trains for a couple months. Not impossible, especially when you consider that he's already been training. Just as long as he isn't stuffing himself with junk food and lounging around the next two weeks, he'll be fine.

Yeah, chances are he'll be fine. Hopefully he is keeping himself isolated and following actual medical advice instead of new-age quackery

I get what you are saying. but that sounds like Hope than reality. RAFA and other young guns like Thiem, Tsisipas will all be training and playing matches to get tough and will be Hungry like the WereWolves. and Novak will be relatively weak from recovery and not match tough.
Reality is Novak will be lucky if he reaches 2nd week of either slam this year.

As young and fit as he is, the odds are definitely in his favor that it won't be very severe, but for now we just can't know for sure. Players' careers have ended because of mono (Soderling, Ancic), and COVID has the potential to be much worse. Hopefully all the players currently infected have mild or no symptoms and can get back to training in just a couple weeks' time.

Hope he is fine obviously and gets over it quickly but he is not looking good during Corona crisis. Kinda like boris Johnson when he got it.
BoJo, at least right after he recovered, sounded like Scrooge after he was visited by the Ghosts of Christmas, singing praises of the NHS and all.

If Novak can shed his hippy nonsense after this, then at least something positive will come out of it

Also on another note, please do NOT ignore the COVID 19.

I got this in early March. It's been nearly 4 months now I still have a lingering cough and shortness of breath. It weakened my immunity for a while and I got exposed to some other viruses too as a result (herpes Zoster etc). It has definitely impacted my work and general life and obviously fitness. I lost tons of weight and muscle mass and it was a terrible few weeks when I was suffering.

Again I'm not a pro tennis player, but I'm in my 30s and decently fit.

So please be careful and social distance for your sake and for others.

Hopefully when the dust settles we'll here more about how Novak allowed this situation to escalate. Ivanisevic always seemed like a bad idea and it wouldn't surprise me if he was the one pushing it very hard all the way. As such, I'm expecting Ivanisevic to exit stage left pretty soon.

Vajda needs to lock this thing down again before Novak goes (even further) back off the rails. Novak needs to be much more careful with his hires, especially these former pros in mentoring roles. Turns out Boris wasn't quite such a disaster after all.

But will he take standard 2 month recovery?? Not sure...His US Open is gone??

How much will it affect his health?
