Do you guys think Thiem is more dangerous player than Wawrinka.

Ha, no. Stan probably had the highest peak of anyone not named Federer. Wawrinka smoked peak Djokovic and peak Nadal on mud slow hard courts at the AO and then Federer and Djokovic (again) on actual French mud. Then he owned Djokovic one more time on slow courts at the US open.

Do you really think Nadal is going to have to resort to faking injuries, slow playing, and maybe taking an extra dose of "vitamins" tonight to deal with Thiem?

Thiem is faster and more versatile (has nice drop shots) but his ground strokes are not as consistently heavy and deep like Stan when he is in Stanimal mode. Stanimal and Delpo are the best players to give Nole trouble bc they can overpower Nole in a rally until even Nole hits a short ball. And they are just fast enough and patient enough to not be too bothered by Nole’s shots. Roger on the other hand just doesn’t have that patience or power off the ground to keep Nole pinned behind the baseline. Which is why he usually wins when he hits his spots (and especially when serving well) but loses when he is hitting UEs.

Stan's GS wins are as good as any in history, brah.
Exactly. Stan has a super high peak but there's other players besides Roger who no question have a higher peak level than him. Namely, Rafa and Novak. Arguably Delpo and Murray as well and that's only counting the current generation.

Stan beat peak Nadal and peak Djokovic (on his favorite surface) in the same tournament. Nadal has higher peak on clay. Delpo was probably pretty close for a hot minute. Murray lol stop playin'.

Nadal has a higher peak on HC, clay, and grass. Djokovic has a higher peak on at least HC and grass. In no world does Wawrinka have a higher peak than either one of them, so stop playing. Murray "arguably" had a higher peak in his 2012-2013 period and 2016 period, his style may not be as flashy as Wawrinka's is but it's arguably been more effective at it's best. Del Potro has caught fire a number of times and has been more effective against Nadal, Djokovic, Federer than Wawrinka has. The Del Potro - Wawrinka h2h is 4-3 in favour of Del Potro despite Wawrinka having more slams. There's lots of evidence to at least say "arguably."

Disagree. Defense only guys like Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray are great at defense, but still got blown off the court when Stan was peaking.

Thiem is one of my favorite players to come across in the last couple years. Clearly he is one of new contenders on Clay, but it remains to be seen if he can modify his game to other surfaces. We are comparing him to older players more mature in their development. And, with sports knowledge these days players can stay fit and play longer and longer.

I think Thiem has bright future ahead.

Well, you can disagree... but offensive, attacking players are only able to BE offensive when they are dictating the points. When Nadal and Djokovic are at their best, they do not let offensive players like Stan dictate the majority of the points. That is why in 2014, Stan was able to beat both of them, Djokovic was underperforming, and Nadal was dreadful in the first set hitting every one of his shots short right into Wawrinka's hitting zone. The truth is that peak for peak, Wawrinka does not stand up to either of them, except "maybe" Djokovic.

Edit: I consider this match his best match at the AO. Amazing, but Djokovic still won.

Who cares about Thiem's fitness? Sunday's match will be over in 90 minutes and his fitness won't become a factor. For his fitness to be relevant, he'd have to win the first set and then another one to extend it to the three hour mark. He'll long be showered and in his presser at the 3 hour mark.

In any case, Stan's peak level is 100 times whatever Thiem can bring on any surface known to mortal man. And Stan's mental strength was vastly superior as well.

On clay against Nadal yes....Thiem has a better chance than last year's Stan but that's not saying much the.
