Do you mark your racquets?

I have different dampeners on all of them. A frowny face, a ying yang, an ace of spades, and a breast cancer hope one.

still have those frames jolly?

Just a few, I gave most of them away. I think I had 17 at most, and only have like 4 left, just my favorite ones.

I would rather give them away to friends that would use them rather than have them sit in my closet and go to waste.

I know my racquets without marking. Not that they play differently, but certain little scratches tell me the difference.

I think the most I ever had at once was 26 or 27.

Of course I don't really need that many, with the Kevlar blend, I can get by with 8, with the straight ALU rough, 12 wasn't enough.

that's 20 + 2 k88s......
I live in the uk so rackets are more expensive but
luckily i get them for about $130 :)
Are you ever going to let go of some?
Switching to the BLXs anytime soon?
:)

(and yes, i counted)

I still have enough K90s to last me until at least 2011, probably will be out of frames in 2012. No reason for me to switch until then. My frames are custom made for me and matched to 1/2 gram to the spec I want.

No reason to ever switch from something I had specifically made for me.

fair enough...I'm trying to match my frames right now!
I actually got to hit with a blacked out bLX tour 90
and it didn't feel very player-framish...
With that amount of rackets you could start a shop! :)
What's tennis in NY like? We might be heading there some time soon.

I have a " address label" made with just the 4 lines on it. I mark it with the info I need to mark the racquet differences. I use it if I make a racquet heavier and the weight it actually is. I also have some racquets that weight exactly the same so I mark them with #1 , #2 , #3. Plus any additional info I need to remind myself of. Cheap, easy and I can change the info pretty quickly with another label. I put the label on the inside of the throat.

That's a pretty good idea also. I like that. As long as you can remember what the differences are of each one. Plenty of choices of dampeners anymore.

I only have 3, one's got a slight crack. The other two usually have a different dampener or overgrip. At the moment they have different string so that's easy to tell.

I have a racquet which I mark S for Service, and I only use it for serving. Of course, it took awhile to get used to switching to either a baseline or volley racquet right after the serve, but I got used to it.

I was thinking of getting another racquet for only my backhand as well. Any ideas?

Just carry them in a quiver on your back, so you don't have to keep running to the sideline between shots.

You should search for the Western Grip thread, too. You are a perfect candidate.

If you have more than one of the same racquet, do you mark them so it's easy to identify which one is which? If you use the same string and same tension then it doesn't really matter, but I usually have different strings and it's nice to quickly see which is which, without having to try and read the strings.

I have 3 racquets and I just added different colored magnetic tape to the very top of the grip, so it sticks out beyond any overgrip that I add. "Racquet1" has red, "Racquet2" has white, and "Racquet3" has blue.

What do you do?

I used to worry about stuff like this until....

I strung for a WTA event. One of the contestants gave me 2 - 3 frames a day. She played with the Nadal frame, strung mains with Pro Hurricane and the crosses with Excel at 64 - 68 pounds, it varied from day to day. The frames I got were always broken, it wasn't like the restring was just for fresh strings.

I noticed on each of the frames that the paint had worn off on all 4 sides where the string was tensioned on the bottom (5 and 7 o'clock). I kinda laughed when I noticed because it lined up perfectly when I pulled tension down there. After noticing, I checked all her frames for the same condition. They all were like that.

Now, I don't know how many frames she had in total, but..... I've never owned a frame and had it restrung so many times that the act of pulling tension wore off the paint.

My conclusion? We worry way too much about rotations......measurements....how many times a frame is string, etc.

I do have a system. I have 3 frames in my bag. Two are strung with natural gut and one is strung with a multi. If it's damp, I use the one strung with the multi. If not, then I use the same frame until it breaks and I pull the other one. My bag has racquet dividers in it, so the one that I'm currently playing is in the middle. The other natural gut strung frame is in the outside divider and the mutli in the inside divider. Hey, you gotta have a system ;)
