Does the Head youtek ig Prestige MP=PT280 like Mid=PC600?

Since the midsize version of this line gets a lot of love and comparisons to classic mids I was wondering if the MP (or the Pro for that matter) has that same resemblance to the PT280 or classic Radical Tours.

No, the IG Prestige MP is not as close to the PT280 as the IG Prestige Mid is as close to the PC600. The IG Predtige MP has more vibration, has a touch of hollowness, and is slightly stiffer feeling in comparison to the PT280. It’s a good racquet though and is what they are giving out to most players you see on the ATP Tour with the Touch Graphene Prestige Paint Job.

Not an off the rack MP though, right?

Correct. It’s made with same layup but without the commercial weights. I have a couple of IG Prestige MP in Graphene XT and Graphene Touch paint job and they play exactly as the retail.
So if the balance, SW, etc. is different from a common MP then is it something about the Innegra that they like?

I have a Graphene XT MP that feels and plays rock solid with no hints of hollowness or vibration. It needs a lot of lead in the hoop though, as it comes very headlight in stock form; once brought up to around 360 g strung and overgripped, it's fabulous.

Funny to see that old thing always get overpraised. In a few years we’ll see the same thing about the graphene racquets because the new tech feels hollow.

I still have 3 IG Prestige MP in the 25th Ann. Edition black paint job. The rackets feel much better with silicone in the handle and lead tape at the head.

I also had the Mid version and that was a nice racket.

vsbabolat did a thorough review of the IG Prestige Mid and IG Prestige MP many years ago and it was a very long thread with lots of people chiming in. It's what I've used since around 2011 in Pro Stock form

Those were the last racquets HEAD sold that I like.

I'm very happy with them to just keep using them until I'm no longer around or until they fall apart. I'd guess that there are a lot of these with newer model paintjobs as IG seems pretty popular still. The YTs didn't hang around for very long but I can use those too. Someday I'll try a PT57 - if the right one comes along on the Strings Forums.

So I also managed to get a 25th anniversary edition IG MP. Strung that up with Tour Bite 1.20 and it feels really nice. It's currently at 355 but I'll add 4 or 5 grams at 12 o'clock to get the swingweight up a little and get the balance right where I want it (12.5")
