Does the Wilson Pro Staff RF97 Autograph (Black) come with silicone in the handle instead of foam?

I know Wilson will sometimes use silicone from the factory to bring a racquet up to spec... had a pair of Wilson Blade CVs that are usually foam filled, but one chamber in one of the racquets had some silicone in it.

Whew... Okay. Can anyone else confirm?

The RF97 have a plastic plug in the bottom of the handle with the pallet molded around it. You won’t be able to see if there is silicone or not and it would be difficult to get any in.

The plastic plug is easily removed. It looks like the left of the hairpin is foam and the right is silicone.

So far it’s a split decision by the masses. Halp @Twstaff!

Yeah, all 12 of mine had silicone in one shaft and foam in the other. I think it’s just put in for balancing, but I’ve also noticed that it seems to be a consistent difference in comparison to the first gen black and red RF97. I think it’s a conscious change by Wilson to make the all black version more playable after the black and red was too clubby for a large number of people.

Thank you for confirming. Now I’ll need to find another one with silicone.. I have no idea how much they put in and whether it’s done right (with something blocking the silicone from spreading), which I hope the manufacturer would do right but it’s not the best quality control.

Clashs do have a lot of silicone in the handle. Think this is the new Wilson strategy, produce the rackets lighter and make sure that balance point is correct and not to high. There were many problems with the BP in the past.

No. Just has more lead on the pallet and a foamed wrapped handle. Nothing special @ $249. Federer doesn't even use it. Just the racquet mold. How do you feel now? ;)

Yeah it’s like 1/2 - 1 inch thick. Nothing behind it to dam, but it’s already dried and bonded so you don’t have to worry about it going anywhere.
