Hi guys I just got this beauty of a stick for 7 bucks. It says Dunlop Max 200G, but I was wondering if it's the same mold as the original John McEnroe Max 200G? And worth as much too? Btw I also got an original Max 200G a few weeks ago, it was an absolute steal at 15 bucks.:) I compared both and this green/white version's headsize seems a tiny bit larger but otherwise almost the same. Both are made in England. I've yet to test the swingweight and static weight at my local pro shop, will do it soon. Anyone familiar with this green/white Max 200G? Thanks.

is it fake?

I can't be sure but I really don't think so, the original owner had it for more than 10 years and I don't think any fake 200G's have been made, and as it was so long ago makes it even more impossible for fakes. The frames are really rock solid, feels like much better quality than the newer frames in recent years!

I don't think it is fake. I am guessing it is last batches of 200g before the 300g comes out. Experts will soon come in and comment.

but for 7 bucks, even if it is fake, it would worth it. :)

It's an original Max 200G from about 1989. It's the 3rd version of the 200G.

It actually has the exact same head size as every other 200G, as they are all from same mold after 1983. (The 82 versions are slightly different but the head size is the same).

You'll find that one of your 2 racquets is slightly warped, that's why they appear to have different headsize, this was unfortuately quite common, especially at higher tensions!

Oh and by the way the Black one you have is the first version, and the one with the McEnroe signature is the 2nd version.

There was also a 4th and 5th version as well:)

I think the Max 200G is the best frame ever made (along with the Max 300i, which is the same mold, only slightly stiffer):)

Oh cool thanks for your input. I know one of the later generations, the Max 200G Pro with purple and green, it's my next target! But I don't think I'll get lucky so soon again. Agree with you, the 200G is simply fantastic. I hit with the 1st gen and I can say it's the best frame I've ever hit with, but I don't hit the sweetspot with every shot. If only the headsize is around 95! That would make my racquet of choice. Now I'll get the 3rd gen strung, can't wait!

Oh and by the looks of it can you identify which one is warped and which is normal? I reckon it may be the 3rd gen and once strung it'll hopefully get back to the exact shape.

MaratSafin,

I remember seeing a thread similar to this some time ago.

Some racquet collector posted pictures of all the different versions of Max 200G ever produced.

Search for it, and you will have all your answers.

The very first version of the Max200g didn't have any US nor UK patent information on the throat AND the beam width at the tip of the head tapered slightly.

Awesome, thanks. I was too excited about them and forgot to do a search!

Where did you get this? What's the headsize?

I got both from some people clearing out their garages in my country. Not many people know about these over here!:) The headsize is about 80? The closest thing I have to it is a Prince Spectrum Comp 90 and the Max 200G is noticeably smaller.

Yup, now I learned quite a lot after some research.. mine has both the UK and US patent info and is a 3rd gen just before the signature version. The green/white is a 5th gen from 1988 after the signature version.

As mentioned already, this is the original Max 200G. For $7 this is a steal. By the way, don't assume that it is warped, just because the headsize looks a tiny bit different. Think about the fact that one is strung and the other is not...

Yes.. I strung up the green/white Max 200G a while ago with an Armour Pro Gut/Pro Line II hybrid and unbelievably the headsize is back to exactly the same as the other Max 200G. Really happy about it! Btw the white/red hybrid string job looks absolutely sick, and plays awesome too.
