ESPN NOT showing men's semifinals tomorrow?

BreakPoint

According to the TV schedules, ESPN is NOT showing the PLO men's semifinals at all tomorrow!

They are showing only the women's final (I assume live) at 5:30 EST tomorrow (Saturday)!

Their next broadcast window is 2:30 AM to 4:30 AM EST Sunday morning in which they'll likely show only one of the two men's semis. Since an American is in one, guess which one they're going to show?

THIS MUST MEAN THAT WE'RE NOT GOING TO GET TO SEE FEDERER VS. SRICHAPHAN AT ALL!!!!

ESPN has really hosed all of us Srichaphan fans as they haven't shown any of his matches (except a few points in the Nalbandian match). And he's hot this week and playing phenomenally!!! So they chose to show a taped women's straight sets match from a day earlier instead of the exciting, close, hard-fought, competitive LIVE 3-set Srichaphan vs. Niemimnen QF match last night and now, they're still not going to Paradorn even though he's playing Federer in the semis? What lame world does ESPN live in? I am royally peeved!

You seem to expect every single tennis match at Indian Wells to be televised, which is absurd. There is more live tennis on espn throughout this week than any other sport on espn. Every day they are on the air 4 plus hours straight live. Virtually no other sport gets this treatment.

WBC has been showed live very rarely, they stuck Korea-US on tape delay after tennis earlier this week.
Count the hours of tennis on espn this year vs NBA or MLB. You'd be shocked how many more hours they are on the air with tennis.

Tennis fans are treated very fairly by ESPN(I'm being serious) You need to open your eyes & see how much coverage there is, for a sport that is very hard to cover(no offseason so tennis is always being played somewhere, 4 major championships while other sports only have 1, no definite start or finish time for matches, etc)
Not to mention it doesn't exactly get great ratings.

tennis isn't the only sport being played. It's a very busy sports weekend, there aren't enough hours for every sport. And Indian Wells isn't a Grand Slam, so it really isn't that big a deal. You got to see so many hours of tennis this week, is it that big a deal that you miss Federer destroy a nobody?

Concerning them not showing Paradorn earlier:
Stars draw in the fans in all sports. Srichaphan is a nobody(sorry) I wish they had shown his match last night, but re-showing Hingis & Fed is a much smarter decision. They are stars. And Pmac & Drysdale deserve a night off.

They had the exact same schedule for the men's semi's last year, so I don't know why you are surprised.

You cannot be serious! I see baseball and basketball on ESPN all the time, much more than tennis.

Do you know what they're showing tomrrow instead of the men's semis? Billiards (a repeat), drag racing, and women's college basketball. Woo-hoo!

They showed the WBC on tape delay because not even many baseball fans really care about the WBC.

Srichaphan a nobody? Well, that "nobody" just beat the guy that took out Federer and took his Masters Cup away from him in Shanghai. I'd say it's going to be a very close match tomorrow.

Man, so much hate! I know it's justified but if it's like this for the little PLO, I can't imagine what would happen during a grandslam!
Broken windows? Murdered lovers? Full scale rioting? Anarchy of Biblical proportions?

No offense but all your *****ing and moaning about ESPN is getting repetative. ESPN is a business plain and simple, if tennis bought in the ratings they would show it more. Of course you see baseball and basketball all the time, there are over 1000 games going on in those seasons. Plus a lot of their coverage is regional which means they do not have to take into account time differences and the like.

Then ESPN should give-up, let Tennis channel do the work[ I'm sure they will do much better job].

But was baseball and basketball getting in the way of them showing the live Srichaphan-Nieminen match last night? They had another 2.5 hours of tennis broadcast time already alloted. So instead of showing a live mens (QF) match, as they had been doing all week, they chose to show a few taped womens and one taped mens match, all of which were blow-outs? The womens matches were even from the previous day so everyone already knew the results.

So what's the excuse for that? They missed out on showing a 3-set classic when they had plenty of time to do so.

But you are acting like this is something new. They did the same thing last year for this same tournament. They only showed the Roddick-Hewitt semi and at 2 in the morning as well. What is complaining about it on here going to do?

This will save Paradorn fans some embarrassment when Fed spanks his hiney in straights.

If the women's final is anything like the Dementieva v. Henin match today, ESPN would be better off showing Srichaphan's match. Plus I heard he's playing this really good swiss guy...just can't seem to remember his name....oh well. ESPN pulls his kind of crap all the time on tennis fans. I gotta get the Tennis Channel sometime.

Here's what the PLO website said about the match last night:

"In arguably the match of the tournament so far, Paradorn Srichaphan maintained his impressive form this week with a scintillating three-set win over No.22 seed Jarkko Nieminen."

All while we were watching a taped straights sets women's match from the morning of the day before. ESPN was on the air from the PLO. Why show a day-and-a-half old match on tape rather than show a live QF match that's happening right behind them?

Usually if the semi and final do not show on ESPN, that's because they may show in on a local channel, like CBS. So check your local listing.

Fed/Srichaphan will be a non-event, Fed will finish him off quickly, but Nadal/Blake will be amazing and I'm sure they will show it.

I beg to differ. Have you watched all the clips of all the Pdorn's matches on the PLO website this week? He beat Ferrero 6-2, 6-2 in an hour. He beat Nalbandian and Ginepri, two players that have given Federer trouble in the past. I think it's going to be a very close match as long as Pdorn plays within himself, doesn't get ahead of himself, and maintains the same level as he's been playing all week long. Should be a good one.

Thats why I love the tennis Channel. They will sould every match live all day long its great!!

Seems like a lot of people have the tennis channel. It's not available here in the East Bay of NorCal :( Instead, we get the damned golf channel, I wonder if there's someway to trade it for the tennis channel.

Anyway, are you guys with the Tennis Channel able to watch more tennis matches than those covered on regular cable?

I live in Jersey right across the river from NYC and i cant get The Tennis Channel on DirectTV. Its only available here on Cablevision. I dont want to pay for both. i dont understand y its not available for like $5 on directv.

Is the Tennis Channel caring today's semi's. I know ESPN demand exclusive rights, but if they are not showing the matches, maybe the Tennis Channel can.
I like most on this board am sick of ESPN ruining tennis, poor announcing, match rerun's, ticker tape of yesterdays sports, poor scheduling and think ESPN exclusive's should be dropped.
Let anyone who wants to show matches participate.

ESPN is showing the finals, but it's at 2 AM. Duh, they said it themselves during the Nadal Bagdadtis match: "It'll be on at 11 Pacific, due to some delays from the women's NCAA softball finals." That's 2 AM EST. I checked my cable guide, and sure enough...

I am so glad the women's semis were shown since they were very exciting matches. However, the men's semis should be shown; it's the right thing to do. The PLO is a very big event and to not show all the semi-finals is absurd and very unkind to tennis fans. I prefer the women's matches, and greatly enjoyed them(for the great level of play in the Sharapova/Hingis match and the sheer excitement of the Dementieva/Henin match) but I would still like to watch the men's semis. The unfortunate thing is that espn has exclusive rights to the event so the tennis channel can't broadcast it.

As far as the fed match who cares fed beating up another chump, big deal but the nadal + blake match that would be a shame if that is not on.Who has fed beat so far besides lubi, his draw is a joke are you fed fans really thinking that ****serpan can give him a match. Please another example of fed being #1 because the field is so weak, that is okay because after playing those hacks + then running in to the machine named nadal it will make it that much tougher on fed.

It's either watching espn replay of the last american still standing (Blake) again, or a replay of team USA losing the baseball 'world series'.
see that one is a tough one. i'm sick of watching blake and i don't want to watch WBC (world baseball championships)

I'm not sick of watching Blake, because I'm evil and greedy, I want eye candy and entertainment, and he provides that. I should email espn and tell them to show his matches back to back all day. bwahahaha

The fact that he is playing Nadal adds an extra plus to the match.

ESPN is notorius for not showing the best matches, they could care less. The answer is TTC. If Directv got on board with TTC, many of the distribution problems would go away. If every tennis fan who has directv, forced their hand by threatening to switch their $1000.00/year programming fees to DISH Network, Directv would offer TTC.

Actually, ESPN is showing the men's final live on Sunday at 11:00 AM PST, which is 2:00 PM EST, NOT 2:00 AM.
