While I think this is an extremely sensible decision there was a fan on here saying that he was actually charged more for the tickets to watch the Switzerland games than the other matches.
That is correct.
The Ticket Pricing was structured consistent with the expectation that the Top players would play certain matches. So tickets for matches involving Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray were more expensive than most other matches.
IMO, this in itself was wrong and makes a mockery of the Event to some extent.
I know some fans that booked airline tickets and Hotel accommodation well in advance with the expectation that Federer was going to be playing. It is wrong that players can simply pull out on a whim like that. Federer should not have indicated he was going to play unless he was certain of doing so. He should have told everyone that he would consider playing the event and would confirm it by a set date. At least that way, fans could have had some flexibility.
The big question now though, as Federer has pulled out of the event, will we see Nadal and Djokovic follow his lead?
