Federer domination amazing shots

Amazing shots from 3 of the most dominant matches from Federer:
AO 2007 semi vs Roddick - the anticipation and wristwork for the flick backhand is unbelievable
Wim 2003 semi vs Roddick - the creativity and ability to swing that forehand from below
USO 2004 final vs Hewitt - the footwork, the anticipation and speed with which he approaches the net and cuts off the passing shot.
As Hewitt said at the end "Too good, mate"!

P.S. I made this small compilation. Credit to the original uploaders of highlight videos on Youtube.

The 2nd set set point vs Roddick is probably my favorite Fed moment. That set was when he really announced himself to the world, producing tennis as good as anyone has ever played. Watching that match, just the sheer feeling of realizing how special he was out there, slowing growing as the match progressed, unforgettable.

Imo the running forehand in the W03 Semi is the best shot of that match. Also think the AO 07 semi backhand winner is overrated. Roddick was in the doubles alley, so Fed had the entire court essentially.

Yes, you have to be a player to get it. I'm surprised this reel didn't include the running forehand in that match.
which one, the one on BP in the 2nd or the one late in the third?

The first one was more important/iconic, the 2nd one was harder.

In terms of pure technical difficulty I think the BH half volley winner vs Blake early in the 2nd set (Blake had a BP) at Shanghai was his best shot. There's several incredible BH flick passes I don't think other could have pulled off (or in the case of 05 AO SF, the flick lob), but that shot is in the dictionary for most at least (hell even Roddick hit one once). The BH half volley screamer down the line, I don't think any two handers even have the control for that much less one hander. That's a shot that just should not be possible.

Trick shots are nice and all but most have been repeated and most players will execute them if they try it enough so they are always overrated.

Really it was a quarter volley, not a half volley since Blake's ball was hit hard and landed right on the baseline

I was thinking about the one on BP in the 2nd, but you're right that the one late in the 3rd (you're talking about 5-3 30-30?) was harder. That ball was below ankle height and Rodger hit a great crosscourt pass on it.

Best shot...ever? Not sure I believe that we can really identify a "best shot ever", but if we were going top 5-10, I'd have to put the backhand passing shot in the 4th tiebreaker of the W08 final somewhere in there, as hyped as it is. The context and opponent and shot he hit it off of make it memorable for his career. Also that falling backwards inside out winner against Haas at RG on break point that saved him from going down 2 sets and a break likely saved him from losing his one chance at winning that tournament, and his place in history as a top 5er.
