I would say it isnt the forehand thats quite so good as his mind and how he is so smart where he decides to hit it, if he has an opening you're gone.

Well Nadal's FH is really really good and it's hard to deal with. Oto, Federer's is scary good and if he even has a little time then it seems he's gonna hit the winner off of it.

Fed has the best FH I've ever seen..

Nadal consistently generates insane topspin and power at the same time while Federer has supreme racquet head control and racquet head speed control allowing him to generate as much or as little spin as he wants and place it upon will. I would be happy with either one :p

Federer's is better.

Case in point, if Federer had Nadal's backhand, Nadal wouldn't stand a chance. And then there's the whole thing about the hard court surface, which is kinda a common surface...

whose forehand do you think is better?

Like many have said, Federer's FH is probably the best ever.

Nadal's FH is consistent and only looks special on clay.

Which one would I'd like to have?

On Grass/HC: Federer.
On Clay: Nadal.

Overall: Federer's of course.

It looked pretty special at Wimbledon this year. He didn't rely on it as much as Fed relies on his forehand as Nadal clearly has the better backhand.

Which of Nadal's forehands are you talking about, his 2-h one or his 1-h one? Nadal only hits forehands, he doesn't got a backhand. In either case I would take Federer's though.

I take Nadal's forehand....Federer's forehand is very good also - when he hits the shot in the court....lately, he's been shanking the balls too wide with the forehand....Nadal is more precise.

Nadal's fh is more reliable. He can be aggressive with it while keeping a good margin for error. Federer's fh is more prone to errors, especially when he tries to play more aggressive with it.

Although Federer's fh may sometimes be pretty to look at, it isn''t always reliable.

Federer's fh long caused him to be broken at 7/7 in the Wim final.

Fed's fh into the net caused him to lose the Wimb. final 08.

what got him down to match point wasnt the forehand tho..the forehand kept him from losing in straights(and serve)

Nadal's forehand isn't a 9.9. It's not THAT close to Federer's. Federer can do a hell of a lot more damage with his. Just look at how many more winners he hit than Nadal. Nadal's backhand is slowly becoming the more impressive shot. His forehand breaks guys down and he can do crazy things with it, but he can't just whip a winner out of nowhere as consistently as Federer can. And you can't break Federer down on hard courts by going to his forehand, you'll get killed, but you can do it with Nadal. Or at least, it has been done against him.

Yes, Fed's forehand has let him down against Nadal, but it's also the shot that gets him to the finals in the first place.

Nadal's forehand is usually much better, but Federer stepped it up and found his winning forehand in the final.

i love nadal but what makes nadal effective is his mindset and his strategy. He does not dictate with his forehand like fed does. He out fitnesses his opponents and towards the end where he's still at 95% others have wavered to 60-70% of capability.

Can't go against the versatility of Nadal's forehand!

I would have to go with Hot Sauce here. When I see Nadal's forehand the last thing I think of is versitility or variety. It's devastating and effective like Courier's forehand but not varied.

If you're talking versatility, I'd go with Federer's. He can flatten it out, hit with tons of spin, hit short angles, and everything.

How could you watch Nadal play and say that he doesn't dictate with his forehand?

I think its liking picking between two beautiful women, either one would be great to have. I would have to say that Fed's FH is more versatile in that it suits all surfaces but if you're going going for steady then Nadal's FH is better. Both are really hard to imitate..Its crazy how they both swing across their bodies!
